Friendly and helpful staff, very clean rooms, free wifi.
No lift if you are on 4th floor.
Get past the hotel frontage that also doubles up as a tourist office right on the street and you will find one of the best value for money hotels in AoNang. The staff are willing to help with anything you ask. The rooms are basic, but really clean and tidy. Breakfast is also basic but good. When we 1st arrived I didn't have a printout of the booking and were just allocated a room. Later on that afternoon I went onto the internet and printed off a copy of the booking and handed it to reception. A little while later we were asked to change rooms because they had given us a standard room when we had booked deluxe. For the extra £ or so choose a deluxe room - these are on the back of the hotel overlooking the pool instead of the street so are quieter unless you enjoy watching life go by from the balcony. We were on the top floor so had a good view but a lot of steps too.
Restaurant Tip : Right across the road from the hotel is a tiny Thai restaurant that serves delicious cheap local food and shakes. You must try it.

clean, new, good breakfast, great beach, nice and friendly personnel
We had a wonderful experience in this hotel. They are conducting some works currently therefore they offer the guest an upgrade to the cottage and 1 night free if you stay 2 nights. It's really a good deal. We weren't bothered by the works 'cause during the day we were out climbing and during the night they stop working. Breakfast, friendly service and cleaning were the winning points of this hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : great climbing spot!
stay on the west side of the island. the beach is much better!

Room is spacious, clean and come with small balcony. Come with simple traditional Thai decoration. The staff is friendly. Within walking distance (less than 5 min) to nearby famous Aonang Beach.
Shower curtain does not cover whole bath area making the bathroom floor wet. Limited variety of breakfast to choose from.
1st the hotel name already cause confusion. The hotel exact name is ‘The Palace Aonang Resort’ (in Blue colour). However, on Agoda is written ‘The Palace Hotel’. To make the matter worst, there is another hotel in the same road with the name ‘The Aonang Palace’. We had difficulties to reach the Hotel as the taxi driver drop us at the latter hotel. Luckily the hotel is nearby and within walking distance. 2nd, the hotel is a bit over pricey as it not exactly located by the beach side but due to high season it would be acceptable as others hotel in the area also expensive. Recommended to go to Ao Nang, Karbi within May to September as it was low season and the hotel is very cheap.
Shopping Tip : Always negotiate for lower price/ discount when shopping.

Great location on the main street about 100 meters from the beach. Good breakfast buffet served out doors.

These days any hotel of this standard should provide complimentry wifi.
The hotel is a bit old and dated.
The shower is not separate from the rest of the bathroom which floods when you shower and doesn't drain well.

The hotel is located in the middle of Ao Nang town and close to the beach. But still in a quite area!
The rooms was clean but not very tastefull. And the bathroom old and the breakfast at the hotel not very nice.
A good located hotel if you want to stay in the city and near the beach for a cheap price. Mot a 3-star though! And the central beach in Ao Nang is not very nice. I recommend Railay (West)...

Close to town and the beach. Cheap accomondation.
The beach in Ao Nang is not very nice because of a lot of dirt. Do you like the beach then go to Railey West or Phrah Nang close to Railey.

The hotel needs serious maintenance, breakfast is bad, general lack of cleaning of pool area, etc.
The hotel is located close to the beach front. We got a room at the top floor (room 406)with a balcony facing the pool area and with a sea view.
The room was really very bad and very worn down! The bathroom was full of ants, the shower had to be operated by holding the shower head in your hand and there was a smell of sewer from the drains. Only one of the lights in the bathroom worked, making it badly lit and difficult to shave. The hotel staff excused this by claiming that the other light (the one in front of the mirror) was an emergency light...
The hotel staff was nice and friendly, but we had the impression that there were a lot of employees at the hotel, but few of them were actually working. The pool area was hardly cleaned, e.g. the sun beds were not cleaned at all during the 5 days we stayed there and we had to clean out leaves from the pool ourselves as the hotel staff were busy sitting in the shade and talking.
The breakfast buffet was served outdoors under a tent, without any refrigeration for dairy products, youghurt, etc. The staff was generally slow in cleaning of the tables, so that we saw several examples of hotel guests having to clean of the tables while the hotel staff were busy having their own breakfast.
The hotel is too expensive amd we would not recommend this hotel!
Restaurant Tip : There are several nice restaurants at the beach front at the end of the beach, main shopping area.

Good location and excellent breakfast and friendly staff.
Dirty swimming pool and noise from the street.
The location is good near the beach and the hotel was clean. The breakfast was excellent because they served something else than just toasts, like fruits, eggs and yogurt. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. But the swimming pool was quite small and a bit dirty all the time. In the street side rooms there was some noise from the traffic and it was disturbing during the night time.

Outdoor breakfast was refreshing, the staff were excellent and it was as good a location as you could get in Ao Nang without going all out with the expensive beach location.
Choosing a hotel in Ao Nang was difficult with the descriptions given on the sites. We like to stay in beach front chalets and the initial impressions for most of the hotels is that they are on the beach. Unfortunately this isn't so for all but 1 (I think) which looked really expensive. The Palace was however as close as you could get, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and despite our room overlooking the main street the noise was not noticeable, and we even had wi fi from the balcony on one of the nights. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, and the breakfast, served under awnings outside was very refreshing, as was the pool area. The "gym room" consisted of a glass enclosure with treadmill and bike - but who needs it this close (about 150m) from the beach.
Travel tip : I would recommend staying here if you are going to be in Krabi for any length of time- other hotels may be OK for a 1 night stopover b4 moving on, but the Palace is good for a few more days.

Clean rooms and newer then most Thailand places at this price
limited English channels on TV.
Hard to find with 2 places named Palace but with Ao Nang in their name
I was quite surprised at with the room finding it clean and newer then most places in Thailand at this low price (low season). It was quiet, very little noise. The breakfast was ok and at times hard to find a seat open before 8.30 when everyone was waiting for their tour. Beach was within a few minute walk.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Kayaking at Tha Len was excellent even though it rained some and was cloudy. Best place so far for kayaking in Thailand

great location, lovely pool, clean rooms, nicely decorated
With reference to the reviews below mine which I took into consideration when booking, things may have changed since these people stayed at the hotel. The balcony is not 1 long communal balcony providing easy access to everyones room it is seperated by walls (though you could climb over if you desired but the point is it is not 1 long balcony). Our room looked exactly like the pictures on this site to the extent that the Superior Room photo could even be our actual room. It was nicely decorated, we were on the top floor (no lift if this is a problem for you) right at the end so we had fantastic views of the sea & it looks like all rooms on the street side would have a view of the sea (high floors at least). The other side of the building overlooks the pool & a beautiful mountain & they can probably also see the sea. The room was cleaned daily to a high standard, tea & coffee making facilities were in the room & were replenished daily along with 2 bottles of water. The pool was lovely & it also had a jacuzzi in it, we were here low season so often got the whole pool to ourselves which was great. We were booked in for 2 nights at first & booked in for another 4 after staying & seeing how lovely the place was. I gave a neutral rating on dining since we never bothered with breakfast.

Even though I don't have any serious complaints about the hotel, I would not recommend it to my friends. And the people who run it have do not know about hospitality management.
