Great Base for Mae Hong Son
9
Gim's Resort has good-sized well-designed bungalows in a rural setting, just on the edge of Mae Hong Son. Sitting on your deck overlooking the rice paddies is a delight. The communal wi-fi area has tea and coffee available all day, and the friendly owners are always on hand for advice. This was our second visit to Gim's Resort and to Mae Hong Son, which we really like. Mae Hong Son is a delightful town, with a lovely lake in the middle and great scenery all around.

Impressive villa
Big, beautiful, well laid out villa
9.3
This hotel is made up of individual villas. It was like being in Shangri-la. The walk to each is peaceful with running water along the walk way. The villas have their own decks and ours overlooked rice fields. With separate shower room, toilet, and sink, it came in handy with three people in the room. There is also a fridge in the villa. There is also a sitting area in the villa. Two sets of patio doors make you feel like you are always outside. The owners and staff made our stay more than nice. Although a bit out of town, it is convenient because they will drop you off and pick you up anywhere in town. Highly recommend this hotel.

Bangalows with the scenic greenery/ rice field
Located not too far from the city, nice interior decor with naturally materials, comfy , clean and friendly service.
8.7
it is a small resort with the bungalow style located in the midst of the garden and rice field behind a resort. it is rather difficult to find for the newcomers. need to put more signs on the corner of the roads to show a direction. there are bikes for guests to sightseeing around the area and to town. the room is quite small but clean/comfort with a porch and has everything you need, tv, wifi, necessary toiletries including hair dryer. the shower is strong with separated toilet. free four bottles of water in the room, coffee, tea , seasonal fruits and cookies are also provided for guests in the lobby. the owner is friendly and makes you feel warm welcome.

Lovely location, very pretty resort
Very peaceful, post card pretty location
7.7
The villa was very clean and comfortable and the hotel staff were very friendly. Realistically the resort is about a 15 minute bike ride from town. It is a lovely, peaceful ride though and the bikes provided are very good. There is no restaurant at the resort and not much near by so you will need to ride into town for each meal. We recommend getting the phone number of a local tuk tuk driver to arrange evening pick up. We highly recommend this for a quite, healthy retreat in an absolutely stunning town.
Restaurant Tip:
Salween River Restaurant does an amazing breakfast. We have lived in Thailand for around 3 years and this is one of the best breakfast places we have come across. Highly recommend.

Great and clean resort
Surprising details in room and resort design
8.3
The location of the resort is not in town, however the wonderful resort and the feeling it gives makes up totally. The spacious room is very clean and homely. A peaceful place to chill out.
Travel tip:
The resort does not provide breakfast but there are many places in the town that you can grab a bite. Do not miss the nice coffee joint (Before Sunset Coffee?) at the high up majestic temple (Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu) parking lot as it offers a good view the city, especially in the early full misty morning!

Oasis set among fields of rice
Beautiful, spotlessly maintained, friendly and courteous staff.
10
from reading all the reviews of this guest house our expectations were very high, i can honestly say all those expectations have been exceeded doubly so by this wonderful oasis.
guests stay in individual bungalows that look and feel brand new. our particular bungalow overlooked paddy fields and forested hills where local nature could be seen and heard. in the morning cockerels can be heard distantly crowing through the mists, while later in the day you can relax in the shade on raised decking outside your room.
the staff are all friendly, attentive and helpful. rooms are cleaned daily and are very comfortable. although there are no breakfasts provided there is an assortment of teas and coffee in the open reception area with freshly baked cookies and locally grown fruit which you are encouraged to help yourself to throughout the day and are able to take back to your room. free bottled water is supplied to your room daily.
the guest house is situated a short distance from the town but this wasn't a problem for us as we had a hire car. there are however, bicycles (in good condition) for you to use free of charge.
we fully recommend this resort to everyone and sincerely hope we have the opportunity to return one day.

A great find
Beautiful villas in a peaceful area
7.3
We booked 2 nights - it was a great find and we were really pleased with our private villa - Villa No 3. Cleverly decorated, it had everything we needed - a fantastic wet room with 'very' hot water and thick bath towels, a separate toilet (a clever idea), the use of a hairdryer for my partner and 4 bottles of complimentary water instead of the usual 2.
There is no on-site restaurant but don't worry, there is free tea (several varieties), coffee, drinking chocolate, biscuits, fruit for you to help yourself to at ay time.
It's situated approximately 2km out of Mae Hong Son so you'll need transport to get in to town.
Wifi in Reception was fast and reliable - unfortunately we couldn't get a signal in our Villa.
If you're in the area you should check it out for yourselves, you won't be disappointed.

Gorgeous chalet, beautiful grounds, lovely staff.
Attention to detail in the chalets, communal area and well kept gardens. The super friendly staff.
8.3
The whole ambience at gimms is relaxed. The staff are really friendly, helpful and attentive. The chalets are beautifully decorated and laid out. They are airy and light. It was real luxury for us. Comfortable bed, the quietest fan ever, a seperate toilet, separate sink and separate bathroom with bath (bliss)! The television had many different english speaking channels and films. Some of the chalets have verandahs overlooking the fields (harvest was over so it felt really private) others look over the gardens or are closer to the generator or road. The distance from town may be a problem if you dont have transport or are unable/unwillling to ride one of the free bicycles provided. Ring ahead and they will pick you up when you arrive. The free tea and coffee fruit and biscuits was great but fresh coffee in the morning would be even better (and also probably not the meditation music that is played whenever you sit down). My favourite accomodation in south east asia!
