Pool. Staff.

There is no room safe. Sometimes there is no one on the front desk who speaks English, but they do try to find someone right away when needed.

This hotel has a great pool and a friendly staff. They really try to meet your needs. This time I stayed in the main hotel rather than the bungalows. I had a great room on the third floor -- non-smoking which is not always available in Thailand -- overlooking the pool. It was peaceful and pleasant.

The swimming pool is even better in the hot season. The staff are still helpful. Although many have limited English, they do strive to please and to understand requests. Even though breakfast was not the big buffet, you got to order a good breakfast off the menu as part of your room fee.

Breakfast during the low season is not the huge buffet that it was in December (but they made up for that.... see pros). I felt like the pool could have been cleaner than it was on one of the days I was there. The one place the staff dropped the ball was on responding to my request to have a doorknob fixed in my room.

Rooks remains a friendly place to stay with a decent breakfast and a staff that is eager to please. The pool is pleasant and a great relief after a day out in the heat. The wireless connection in the main building seems to have been improved since my last visit.

Fabulous swimming pool! Great staff.

The coffee at breakfast really needs improvement. It was a real shame to have a fantastic breakfast buffet and then find the coffee so disappointing. They are doing some renovations near the resort/bungalow area. There was no noise, but I had to walk through a work area to get to my room and that might bother some people.

I stayed in one of the bungalows in the back of the large hotel. It was clean, spacious, and comfortable and very peaceful and quiet. This would be great for a family with children. There is a pond outside the bungalows with fish to feed and a back and front porch for each unit. The breakfast was a buffet feast of Western and Eastern foods suitable for any taste. But anyone who is at all particular about their morning coffee will want to plan on a stop at a coffee shop. The staff was unfailingly courteous and helpful and cheerful.

Out of town centre, long walk into town. Should hire car to get around. Ratings below are on hotel. Bungalows would be rated at the bottom.

Restaurant Tip : Fern Restaurant, about 300 metres away, opposite Library, is excellent. Good food, good value, good atmosphere.

First we had a bungalow. These bungalows are far far away from the main building. The fridge in the room was almost alive and the door of the closet was dangerously hanging out. We changed rooms to the main building and that was a bit better. Most of the staff hardly spoke a word of English. We will for sure not go here again.

Restaurant Tip : Fern Restaurant is about 10 minutes walk and that is a good restaurant
