Food was good with a large selection.
Rooms are large. Staff friendly
Room a/c noisy on high. Shower is electric, water was either hot or cold with a 15 second delay for an adjustment to have effect.
As mentioned, the rooms are large, the staff friendly and the food good. However the shower was very bad. Be happy with cold showers. breakfast was outside and there seemed to be no protection from insects so shared meal. The grounds were a little untidy, the hotel in general showed its age and needs maintenance.

Location just a bit out of town makes it quiet but still close enough. Lots of teak wood. Teak forest behind it. Our room had a balcony which was nice.
The hotel is aging and really needs an overhaul. The beds are getting older too.
We stayed here for 2 nights in July. It's probably the best hotel in town...which means that Mae Hong Son is undeveloped because all the hotels seem older. There was no new resort there. The lobby is great open aired with lots of teak. It's close enough to town but not right in it...which is good too. We rented motorbikes and it just took 5 minutes to get back and forth to dinner. We thought the restaurant was overpriced and mediocre but we had dinner both nights at the Fern in town and really loved that. The pool is older and not great and the gym is 'non-existent' - two old pieces of equipment under the balcony. The room is comfortable enough, for sure. If I went back to Mae Hong Son I would most likely stay here again just because I wouldn't want to be right in town and this seems to be one of the best hotels in town. But don't get your hopes up for luxury!!
Restaurant Tip : Eat at the Fern. There's also a small night market by the lake, which is a beautiful place to sit. There are some vendors there selling barbecued tubtim fish covered in salt. Delicious!
