checking in was an ordeal, welcome non-existant, almost like it was a hassle that my family and i had arrived at that particular time. noticed while waiting to check-in that the reception area was cheaply decorated with a paint job and plastic chairs.
before entering room could smell smoke coming from the room despite no smoking signs on doors
superior room was not as small as previous posts indicated, but was very basic. first impression of the room was that the upgrade from the little duck as it was formally know consisted of nothing more than a lick of paint and a new fridge proved be correct. bathroom was almost too small to use and leaked in several places.
staff in lift spoke badly concerning body odour of one of the guests sharing the lift, not realising my wife could speak thai.
will not go back if room was free.

Quiet location, but noise comes from other guests
Checking out was smooth and after discussing for 3 days about having to pay for laundry received, but no ours they eventually produced the correct bill and only charged us for our own washing

Checking into the hotel was not made easy, requiring a print out of the voucher although I explained that the rooms were booked while we were travelling in the car therefore could not access a printer. In the end someone saw sense and allowed un to e-mail the voucher to the hotel so that they could print it out, but they would not let us check-in until the actual voucher was printed.
Went to the rooms and each one had a strong smell of smoke even before entering, although there were no-smoking signs on the doors. The rooms were quite small for Superior rooms and the bathroom almost too small to use.
The rooms felt dirty and I wanted to cancel and go somewhere else.Bathroom had no pressure or flow in the taps, which was probably because the shower and taps leaked; other 2 rooms booked were no better.
I soon realised that the hotel make over from the Little Duck to Bella Express was no more than a quick paint job and some plastic furniture in reception plus a new fridge in the room.
Continually had to tell guests to be quiet, they like to congregate in the corridors into the small hours
Advertised a snooker club, but only had a derelict building out the back, with snooker club signs over the door, this was full of old laundry and tables and had broken windows.
Swimming pool although functional felt as dirty as the hotel. Other guests were spitting in the water, looks and noises made the children want to get out and not go back after the first day.
Only saving grace was the buffet breakfast, not because it was anything special, but allowed us to have breakfast even when after the 10:00 hrs cut off time.

Check out the photos, is exactly the same, near to the beach and walking distance to festive mall ! you could find the best somtum(papaya salad) just opposite the hotel. The old lady sitting on the stool beside an atm machine :)

great hotel in great location. comfortable bed and good wifi connection in the room. breakfast very good as the variety is great and for the price you pay you can't really complain. staffs is very helpful and polite. check in was hassle free and overall i have a great day in my 2 days. highly recommended.

Good hotel and good price
Great room, good room service, OK staff. In the center of the city. Close from the beach and 5 mins away on the Tuk Tuk from walking street.

The hotel was great and the room service was good too. A few hiccups - shower is horrible! No pressure on the water and its not even remotely hot. It is like almost cold water. That pissed me off.
The AC can't be turned off and I called them a few times to come fix it but they said "OH, you don't like the AC?" haha and never came to fix it. Also you can't switch off the main lights in the room without switching off the whole electricity of the room. So at night you can't just have your night lamp on while sleeping. You have to either have all the bloody 6 lights on like its a Vegas Casino or have pitch dark room!
Ordered food and was promptly served but no one came to clean up the plates after that for 3 days!
But a decent hotel. I won't mind coming there again!
Travel tip:
When you get off at the hotel. Go to any motorbike rentals which are at every nook n corner of streets and get a scooter for 200 Baht a day. Very good way of travelling instead of spending 50 Baht eevrytime on Tuk Tuks. Also just down the road from the hotel towards the beach, there is a place called Ali Baba restaurant (very very famous everyone knows about it). The gentleman there has every sightseeing option in Pattaya for shockingly low prices.

bella express is a decent hotel if you're looking for a quick fix and if you don't spend much time in your room.
located near the action of pattaya and the baht bus route. but if you're looking for peace and quiet, i won't recommend it.
i believe it was an old-rundown hotel that Bella chain took over. the whole thing seems like a cover up of a shabby hotel.
small bathroom, scary elevators, rather dirty pool (due to it's located right under a huge trees)
lots of chinese, taiwanese, and indian tourists here.
but the good news is, the breakfast is good. quite a selection for the price.
