The hotel is nice, clean, without much of the frills that you would find in "western style" places in Thailand. Nice swimming pool, clean and spacious rooms.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The location is certainly not the best in town. There is nothing of any interest around the hotel proper and the ride to downtown Pattaya is quite long.
The breakfast was bad. In fact, quite terrible, even by the standards of someone who travels in mainland China most of the year.
Housekeeping is a little chaotic.
Internet connection was really bad.
I arrived at the hotel in the middle of the night after having had a very long trip and was welcomed by very helpful staff, with limited command of English.
The room was clean and bright (the next day), and the staff very helpful. The breakfast, though, was another story. A mix of bad Chinese and bad western food, in a setting reminiscent of a dining hall in an Eastern Germany high-school in the eighties... but with the usual Thai friendliness, in spite of the swarm of Chinese tour groups.
There is nothing to do in the area, and there was a lot of noise during the first few nights due to a political rally held on the large empty lot next door.
The closest acceptable shopping center is about 30 minutes away by cab.
However, it was a very good experience. I would go back and stay at the Eastern Grand.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you are into Thai boxing or martial arts, there is a very nice combat training finishing school nearby that I attended for two weeks. Kombat village is about 10 minutes on foot from the hotel.

The accommadation was of a high standard and clean, The swimming pool was not to deep and the area around it was also clean and tidy, the sun beds are good.
The beds in the rooms are so hard that you would thinks you was sleeping on the floor, the food and drinks always take a long time to get.
This is a very good Hotel, about 5 miles from the centre of Pattaya and in a good location and peaceful, it is by a railway but you only get 2/3 trains a day and you don't hear them most of the time. The staff are always welcoming you with a smile, some of the waiting staff need to speak a little more English, some times a bit hard to make them understand what you are after I found it was better to point at the Menu and the item you required. Housekeeping was first class clean bedding and towels as and when you required them. always towels for you to use for the swimming pool
Shopping Tip : There are 5/6 shoping malls all within 3/5 miles Tesco 1/2 mile Big C 1/2 mile Carrfor 3 miles Mikes shoping mall 5 miles and the Big new city centre

very good and clean - worth the money, off the busy pattaya centre
The hotel is very nice, clean and cheap. If you like the busy life of tourist centre, which Pattaya definitely is, you better don't go there. It's located off the downtown and I suggest to rent motorbike, which gets you anywhere. Directly from bell captain for 200 baht a day. No bus/minibus will drop you off/pick you up from the hotel and you need to take cab to the bus station. The hotel is only for Asian tourist and I felt I was being stared at, since we were the only ones non-asian there.
Shopping Tip : walking distance to outlet mall
