Excellent location.
Friendly staff.
Large room.
Great facilities
We Stayed at the Montien for nearly one week. we were impressed from the start. You are invited to sit in while we checked in. Room was large, clean, with uninterrupted view of the sea and the swimming pool. The room is cleaned twice a day, with ice bucket filled everyday in the afternoon.
We also liked the room service, great sandwiches, international quality. Overall, we were very satisfied and will stay there again.

Convenient location, great pool, wonderful, helpful staff.
Plumbing is suspect - weak water pressure and tepid water most of the time.
For the price for an upper-end hotel, the Montien is quite reasonable. Since business is down, ask for an upgraded room - they usually oblige. If breakfast is not included, go elsewhere as the buffet is expensive and so-so at best.
Restaurant Tip : PIC Kitchen is about a ten-minute walk and a wonderful dining experience. Several cheap breakfast alternatives within five minutes.

I liked the Pool not many guests so you could get the huge pool all to your self and a comfortable sun bed no need to lay down a towel. Nice big air conditioned lounge on reception floor again had the lounge to myself so good for watching sport on TV. Location of hotel good on Beach Road.
The hotel is rather old and tired and the rooms are a bit shabby more holes in the bed linen than in the towels I think this says it all.
Some of the staff were not very well trained and could be rather impolite and abrupt.
For me the Hotel is just too old and ran down to visit it again, the bathroom was also very old and had a lot of mould around the bath / shower. Everything in the room was just worn and it all needs a complete refurbishment and a revamp. The location of the hotel was very good and 10Baht taxi easy accessible outside the hotel.
The hotel pool was very good and reasonably clean and very well set out with sun beds as there were very few guests easy to move about and follow the sun or move to the shade. The Room service was very good and reasonable price also the Coffee shop was a very good service and very polite and helpful staff. Breakfast had a reasonable good choice and once again no problem getting a seat and no need to queue for omelette etc, would be a ok hotel if you were not to bothered about cleanliness.
Restaurant Tip : Soi 8 you get a good full English breakfast

500 BHT/ day for in-room 'Net service. 165 BHT for poolside local beer. Rusty pipes in water system.
I asked the staff why Montien still charge 500BTH/day, at this info era, for in-room Internet service where most aren't. Their answer was, "Because so and so hotels still do." I read some reviews on Montien before my trip. Every time I turned on the faucet, I had to let the water run for a minute or so to "bleed out" what obvious looked as rusty pipes. Montien really made me feel like they are out sucking blood.

Excellent location with superb views.
From the moment we walked throught the hotel entrance we were treated like royalty. The staff couldn't do enough to make our stay an enjoyable and hasstle free time. The gardens and pool areas were so relaxing and the view from our room was brillient. Orchids were placed on the beds each evening and the cleanliness was excellent. Will definitely come back again and recommend this hotel to anyone.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Book trips from the hotel for less hassle and excellent value.

The evening buffet and the morning breakfast, both had an unbelievable selection of very well prepared food. All staff were polite at all times
In the pool area they tried their best to keep the smokers in sections, which seems to be difficult with Europeans. We would stay their again. Do feel we should have been given the new rate as it dropped after we made our reservations. Or a credit.

The pool was ecellent, big, enough sunbeds even many made their own agreement with the pool staff to reserve beds for them.
room standar show the age, carpet on the floor was old, today it's much better with tiles, more clean
Mountien hotel is still a good choice for everyone, but its possible to get better hotel for less money now in Pattaya with nearly same location.
Staff is helpsom as always in Thailand. The outside area is huge and always clean, there is a Spa/Massage center near the pool who was ecellent, not to costly either, but don't choose teh tradinional Thai and Herb massage if you not use to that one from earlier, you will feel it for days after woods.

Friendly helpful staff.
Big pool.
Excellent location.
A little late night noise from the hotel next door.
The welcome from the friendly staff set our long weekend off to a great start.
The reception desk to the pool people all the staff went out of their way to make it an enjoyable stay.
Hotel had plenty of sunbeds and shades and the pool attendants were helpful.
Right in the centre of Pattaya for restarants, shopping malls and bars.
Beach accross the beach road.
Travel tip : Try the Ruen Thai restarant for great food and a Thai dancing performance.

Rooms have balconies so if your on the beach side the view is nice
Over priced for the type of rooms they offer.
Plumbing problems that cause the shower to turn off after two minutes of showering.
Open Lobby that gets extremely humid and sticky.
Bad Service
I had scheduled a 6 week stay at this hotel and left the day after I arrived. The room was barley a step up from a Motel 6. When trying to take a shower after arriving the shower water ceased to flow after two minutes of showering and from then n just dribbled out with such a lack of water pressure that I had to put my clothes back on while covered in soap and complain to managment to get a new room. The room looked simular to a motel 6 room with the exception of it's balcony but the view was absolutely terrible becuase they put me on the third floor. I wound up leaving the next day to a hotel with fabulous, luxurious accommodations for almost half the price of this one. I will never set foot in this hotel again.
Hotel Feature Tip : Stay away from ths place. The prices are extremely high and the quality of their rooms is extremely low.

Balcony with Gulf View.
Nicely Landscaped.
Customer Unfriendly Policies.
Overpriced For What You Get.
Unsanitary Practices.
Visit Bangkok often as we have condo there & Pattaya City a short inexpensive bus ride away so have stayed at many hotels there. What stands out about Montien is that all rooms on the higher floors have great views from the balcony. What aggravates is that this aging hotel holds itself out as a 4 star but provides no wireless internet access in the room or lobby unless you agree to pay a day fee. Unless breakfast included in your tab (ours was not) avoid the buffet as there are many more inexpensive options to get a great breakfast in the immediate area. Lower level staff is great but the management embarrased us on check out. There are cheap slippers in the room which we assumed were complimentary. We gave what we thought were our complimentary slippers back. So apparently the hotel recycles them from guests to guests.

Good location.
Well trained staff.
Beautiful view.
The hotel is located with easy access to the beach, and hotel towels can be brought to the beach. The restaurant and buffet was excellent with high quality. It was clear that the staff were well trained and knew how to approach guests and tables. We enjoyed the room and the fantastic view out over the bay.
Restaurant Tip : The international buffet was of very high standard.

lovely views across the bay. Friendly staff and good service
Expensive drinks around the pool area. Bathrooms could do with upgrading in the near future
I have been using the Montien for many years now and have never been disappointed with my stay. It tends to attract an older clientelle, and woud definately suit the more mature person. The staff are always fantastic and the service very good. The hotel is located in a good position with easy access from both front and back. I would like to see the bathrooms upgraded in the neaer future as I feel they are looking a little tired. But that said, this would be my choice of hotel every time should the price be right.

Good location, friendly staff, great sea view, great pool & Jaccuzi.
Excellent hotel, friendly staff, the swimming pool is great as well as the huge Jacuzzi.
Located minutes away from Pattaya's walking street and still very central, on the beach.
The very well equipped gym allow as well anyone interested in getting back in shape or losing the small kilos taken while eating at the very good restaurant of the Hotel.
Nightlife Tip : Minutes away to Walking Street
