Pleasant but noisy at night.

This hotel is rather old. Whilst you get a pretty decent sized room, the toilet is very small. Nonetheless, its cozy and quaint. I do feel that the sea view is overrated as the hotel is only 4 levels tall. There isn't really an unobstructed panoramic view of the sea. in fact, its really noisy at night with nearby clubs blasting music till the wee hours of the morning. Street buskers vying for some share-of-throat does not help if you are looking for tranquility. In fact, the cheaper garden view rooms are better, IMHO.

My second stay with this hotel. The main reason to return is because of the location. It’s just at the end of the walking street. The tropical set up inside the hotel is fantastic, you heard bird signing every morning, walking in the garden feels like walking in the jungle. Very nice ambient!
A very pleasant stay in general, but there are a few bad experiences during my 9 day staying here
- Some staff in the reception is not properly trained, they “sound” very rude during check in, I guess this is may be due to their relatively poor English
- Made a query about the room price for Xmas at reception, the girl turned to a senior for help. Her senior put down the price on a piece of paper and handed over to me without looking at me, then return to his paperworks on the desk. I asked a few more questions directly to him, he replied quite rudely. But what was really annoying was that throughout the conversation, he never “I mean never” looked at me. That’s not a proper way of talking to a customer
- Only “non-smoking” of my three preferences (non-smoking, king size bed and lower level) was honoured. Requested a king size bed but was given a twin-bed, the staff leading us to the room made a call to the reception, than the manager told me over the phone that they are running full house and promised a change the next day. But the same manager checked us in didn’t mention anything during my check in… I’m ok with a twin-bed, but nobody ever follow up with that promise during the rest of my stay, that’s not a service expected for a 4 star hotel. I decided to stay in that room eventually but at least as a courtesy, someone from the hotel should follow up to correct their mistake. Seems to me that their attitude is “you don’t come to ask then we don’t care”
- Hygiene in the Sunrise Sunset restaurant is not up to a 4 star hotel standard, I got a cockroach inside the dim sum, the staff their seems not surprised

Very Unpleasant. The hotel looks very good from outside, but very bad inside. The rooms are not very tidy, the furniture's are very old, ants all around.

we had just a one night stay on a cruise stop over

We only had a one night stay, but it was pleasant, bed was comfortable, breakfast was included and ok, staff were friendly.
