Small and quiet hotel

Helpful staff and clean,comfortable room at a reasonable price. We got up very early, before the included breakfast but they offered to prepare coffee and toast as a special concession. The shower cabinet was improperly installed, so the door didn't close properly and there was no silicone seal along the walls at the base and sides so the water ran out onto the bathroom floor. There was insufficient space around the sink to arrange toiletries conveniently. Don't be alarmed by the glowing galaxy of stars that appears in the wallpaper above the bed after the light's go off - the luminescence gradually declines over time.

Good Location, but...
Good beach, very quiet time and place, decent price range

The swimming pool (one reason this hotel was chosen) was foul and dirty when we arrived at the start of a 2-night stay. It was promptly closed for the duration of our stay. Very poor management of that attraction.
The American breakfast arrived mere seconds after our sitting down - NOT fresh.
In spite of the good price and very good location this was a very disappointing visit.

The hotel staff were extremely helpful. I intended to bird in the area but without personal transport, I found myself too far from the prime locations. The manager (?) took it upon herself to drive me out to the locations personally on her moto for payment of the gasoline necessary for the trip - in other words, essentially free of charge.
The room was spacious and clean. However, during our two night stay, no room service was provided (low season? - we were the only ones present the first night and only one other couple the second).
The location was right on the beach. The beach itself was pleasant for this part of Thailand. As elsewhere, trash is present.
The pool was sizeable and pleasant but did not appear chlorinated. A substantial number of water bugs were present in the water which was unexpected.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The prime bird watching area for spoon-billed sandpipers at Pak Thale is about 20 km from the hotel. There are hotels nearer but it did not appear that there were any within less than 10-15 km.
