Great breakfast and friendly waitstaff knew more about the area than the staff at Information. Excellent spacious rooms. Very dilligent and attentive attendant at the private beach.

For a 5 star rated hotel the service and amenities looked a little tired. Terrible plumbing. Front reception staff/information staff spoke very little english and knew very little about sites/attractions/shopping in the area.

Overall our stay at the Alpina Phuket Nalina was quite disappointing even though the rooms were spacious and excellent the plumbing was terrible! Every time you flushed the toilet it sounded like an airplane was taking off. We tried to have a cold shower before dinner, after a very hot day and found we only got hot water. Then when we were leaving we had to get up at 3.30am and tried to have a hot shower but only got cold water. There were also lots of ants in the room. We got the room quite cheap as it was off season but they stung us for every other thing we had at the hotel. And because the hotel staff couldn't assist us to find any alternatives we had to use the hotel to book things which was very expensive. For a 5 star hotel, it was disappointing that the front reception and information desk spoke very little english and had very little knowledge about local attractions, etc... If we were only there for a short stay all the flaws might have been forgiveable but because we were there for a long stay it started to become unacceptable. Also, all the hotel amenities such as gym, beach & pool are only available from 8am - 5pm. Since most of the tours around Phuket do hotel pick-ups from 7.30am and return you to the hotel by 5.30pm we missed out on using any of the amenities unless we devoted a full day to doing so. We will probably not stay here again even though the rooms were nice but we felt we got very little value.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Make sure you bargain for everything even if it has a set price in the brochures, such as the tours especially when booking through the hotel!!

Great room very clean good choice for breakfast lovely staff

No free shuttle to the major shopping areas Cost of taxis prohibitif, the slightest ride is $50

I loved the room on the pool, just add to step out of the balcony and I was in the lap pool ready to enjoy. The room was very nice, the staff very helpful but because the hotel is far away the cost of taxi really make it very expensive as the hotel does not provide any free shuttle to the main shopping destination. great for people who do not want to go around, for people who do not enjoy the beach but enjoy visiting not a good location.

staff is friendly and attentive pool is clean, big and refreshing room is clean and nice good value for $ talented musicians in the evening

restaurant not cheap not within walking distance to the beach and can only go to the beach according to the shuttle bus times not in the centre of Karon or Kata although still some restaurants and shops nearby

We had a pleasant stay here. The staff was always smiling and very friendly. Buffet breakfast was not bad. Restaurant not cheap and across the street is a nice thai restaurant run by 2 sisters and it is very cheap - only 50 Baht per dish ($2). Outside the hotel are a few massage parlours for cheaper than inside the hotel although be careful with them. The beach was truly worth the trip. The hotel has chairs down at the beach and from there it is a short walk to Kata where there are a few more stores and restaraunts. Next to the beach spot is also some masseuses and it's heavenly to get a massage there while looking at the beach. Motorcycles can be rented close to hotel for 300 baht and the guest house nearby can give you a good deal on any excursions.

Restaurant Tip : The restaraunt across the street is CHEAP and good Thai food.

Overall, we love the hotel as it has very good service.. From the day we check in and out, their service is very good. Room is clean and nicely designed

Far from the night life of Phuket, not much things to see nearby during night.

Situated near Kata Beach, it is much more peaceful over here than in Patong Beach.. There is 7 Eleven within walking distance and several massage parlor that charges 200THB for 1 hour massage !! Would suggest to tourist who prefer a quiet area compared to Patong.. Many good quality restaurants nearby.

low cost

Staff on the reception desk seemed unable to help with very minor requests

We booked the alpina and for the Agoda rates the pool access room was incredibly good value for money - quite a large room and direct access in to a pool from the balcony. We were out of season so the hotel was really quiet as were its restaurants. The staff were OK but we felt a little lacking in local knowledge. the location is OK in Kata but it is quite a long walk to the beach mainly because you have to walk around the club med grounds.

Great swimming pool, friendly and helpful staff, rooms are spacious and comfortable.

Slightly far from the beach

The room layout is impressive, comfortable and clean. The swimming pool is great. The staff here are friendly and helpful, most importantly, its prompt, we ask for service and within 5 minutes, they are here to help. I would definitely want to go back again.

Recommend for families and couples. Extensive swimming pools and nice poo.View of pool area very nice.Good buffet breakfast.

Check in a little slow and security door entry faulty. Took office staff over one hour to relocate us to a new room even though hotel was only 20% occupied and many rooms were available.

Stayed at this very well presented hotel for 5 days. Would recommend it to families and couples. Extensive swimming pools and nice pool bar. View of pool area very nice.Good buffet breakfast. Hourly transport to Kata beach were hotel has sunbeds. Lovely cheap restaurant directly opposite hotel for more budget concious guests.

Restaurant Tip : Cheap quality food restaurant directly opposite hotel for budget minded visitors.

value for money and comfortable rooms in a great garden setting

None

Very well appointed bathrooms with no tub,but super shower. Comfortable beds with nice linens. A super setting with the rooms all built around a large garden containing a beautiful swimming pool. Pool access rooms on the ground floor. A very friendly staff attentive to the needs of the guests. A restaurant. A spa. A fitness room. Free wireless internet in the rooms.

Travel tip : rent a car or jeep at about $30 a day and drive to less tourist parts of Phuket like Rawai and Nai Harn

Nice large, secure and quiet hotel. All staff wer billiant and friendly (particularly room servce staff). Three happy hours each night in the hotel, live music each evening, personalised service, close to a mini mart (60 metres),rooms were nice, bed was huge, views over the hotel and the mountains were great. Arrival drink was yummy!!

Don't book tours through the hotel (cheaper to book through people on the streets), a little walk to the bars, not alot of shopping to be done, a relaxing place and Kata beach is much nicer than patong (whiter sand, less people trying to sell you stuff etc.)

The hotel was lovely, clean, comfortable and inviting. If you want to hirea mopped/motorbike they are only 50-100 metres away. The pool was lovely, age and quiet (June 2009). The happy hour waiters are slow so order a couple of drinks at a time, remember you will be charged 10% tax and 7% sevice charge on top of your drinks but the cocktails are yummy. Didn't go to the resorts spa as it was a quarter of the price on the streets. The hotel runs a free shuttle bus every hour between 8am-5pm and has chairs and umbellas on the beach which are free (unlike other beaches in Phuket). The beach is not patrolle y lifeguards so be ware as the wavs and rips can be quiet strong (we saw a drowning) and there was no oe to provide medical asistance so that was a bit scary. Beautiful area all round though.

Travel tip : Dont pay over 180 baht for t-shirts (no matter what size), sunlasses we picked up for 150-20 baht and beer (35 bat for a long neck) and water(7 baht for 600ml) are cheap from the mini mart.

Beautiful hotel. Friendly staff.. Really nice rooms. Great outdoor pool.

They ask you to get your own taxi down the road! Had no one around when we needed to go to the airport. We had to hail our own cab at the last minute. They aren't next to the beach or the nightlife as they advertise. No cabs come to the hotel. You have to walk to the main road and hope one comes by.

The hotel itself was very beautiful inside. The staff was polite and helpful. Our room was huge with a great view and a huge double shower in our bathroom. The hotel was modern and beautiful and would have been perfect EXCEPT.....there's no way to get around. The staff asked us to hail our own cabs and since the hotel isn't near anything the cabs do not pass by. You have to walk 5-10 minutes down to the main road and hope a cab comes by. Being told to walk to the main road at 10pm at night without any offer of help to get a cab did not impress us to say the least. It took us 1/2 hour to get on the first night we were there. The hotel is not near the beach as they advertise but they do have a free shuttle to and from the beach every day until 5pm. They aren't near the nightlife as well which leads to the cab problem again. The most annoying thing was having to catch our plane and being told last minute (after we booked a driver the day before) that the driver isn't at the hotel that early. Again my wife had to hail a cab down on the main road which almost made us miss our flight. As beautiful as the hotel is the lack of transportation is a deal breaker for me. I would rather get a hotel closer to either the nightlife area or the beach next time so at least I know I can hail a cab quickly if I need one and not wait a half hour each time.

Hotel Feature Tip : Be prepaired to have to walk 10 minutes to the main road and wait for a cab to come by (if at all). Transportation will be your biggest concern if you stay there.

Very comfortable rooms, huge swimming pool and well designed, the deepest I found for a hotel (1.2 to 1.7 mt). Italian restaurant inside, cooking class available, great breakfast buffet ( a bit expensive) and nice bakery inside. Live entertainment every night. They also have private villa. Friendly staff.

It`s not on the beach, you have to walk a few hundreds meters, but they have shuttle bus to bring you to their beach facilities.

I booked there because it was the cheappest deal of Kata area with Agoda, but it was surprisingly good! Superficially I didn't want to choose this hotel because of the name, it didn`t give me much value, but I had to reconsider it.It`s a big hotel with many rooms, looks like a village, but the space is enough for everyone. It was a nice suprise, at the end we didn`t want to leave!

Travel tip : Located nearby the dining and turistic area of Kata, lot of restaurant choices nearby, but not a good value for money. Our best spot were: Italian Job for coffee and ice-cream, the Boathouse for dinner and the Oasis for drinking with live Jazz. All of them on the way to Kata Noi.
