absolute heaven
villa amenities, peaceful surroundings, great staff
8.7
This is absolute heaven. After a terribly long month of work, a friend and I decamped here and it just healed us. Amazing villa, where you feel as though you are the only ones there, great hotel facilities and superlative staff. The staff were some of the loveliest people I have come to find at a hotel.
Great Thai massage - an absolute must do.

Excellent Property
The villa, food, gym and pool bar
9
Loved the pool villa, excellent layout and the villa pool provided a great way to relax after a workout at the gym. The waiters at the pool bar were very friendly and provided great service.
The pool area was a great place to watch the sunset.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Be sure to reserve the standard pool villa. The lagoon pool villa is not worth the additional money.
Be sure to get your massage from the women who work at the hut on the beach. Less than $15 and very good therapeutic massages.

Beautiful private villas
Privacy of the villas, lovely landscaping/ gardens, great room ammenities
9
beautifully landscaped gardens around ponds was the greeting before finding our very well appointed villa with the privacy you only dream of. a great private pool, outdoor bath tub accompanied by bath salts and flower petals to make it truely romantic.we could have stayed there for days. definately will return.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
As the hotel is set in a more remote part of the island, we rented a car for our stay so we could get around. Krabi was a good day trip, the drive approx 2.5 hours each way.It also enables you to sightsee at your leisure and eat away from the high price of the resorts meals.Driving is a bit hairy there though and you need to take extra care especially of the motorbikes that appear from every where and anywhere.

Wonderful hotel with exceptional service
The villas are beautiful, luxurious and well laid out.
9.7
this is a beautiful resort, well worth the price if you want to relax with your beloved. the pool villas have exceptional privacy and are well planned/laid out. you can enter the pool from anywhere in the villa, through sliding doors. the outdoor and indoor space becomes one.
the food at the restaurant was very good, particularly the tapas. we did not try the signature restaurant as the menu appeared to be limited and the reviews on this site were not very good. the food in casual restaurant was also consistently good.
we are regularly stay in luxurious resorts and we were very surprised to see that anantara exceeded our expectations.

good alternative to jw marriott if you have kids
Nice size villas and pools, quiet, nice communal pool
7
we chose anantara because we wanted to stay at a nice, quiet and relaxing hotel but needed it to be child-friendly (we were travelling with a 14 month old). anantara has nice sized villas with good sized private swimming pools. the beach has nice sand but is public, so no lounge chairs, etc on the beach. also the waves were quite rough so not really suitable for young children. there is, however, a nice man-made beach by the pool. the ambiance is really terrific and relaxing but food and service left much to be desired. we waited 20 minutes for a buggy to pick us up, room service orders took over an hour and were incorrect. the jw marriott is next door, which was a nice alternative for food (if you can stand the craziness of all of the people and kids there). turtle village next door also has a shopping center (totally overpriced) with a grocery store in the basement.
Hotel Feature Tip:
just go with the garden villa. the lagoon villa just opens up so you can see the lagoon but you end up closing it all day anyway for privacy and the sala villa just has an extra little sala in the lagoon that isn't that practical because there are a ton of mosquitos out there. we went to the trisara for dinner one night - definitely worth the trek out there and the $$$.

Charming hotel with sprawling grounds
Beautiful common pool. sprawling grounds, rustic with a modern touch
8
The pool villa was exactly what we wanted - private, big and luxurious. You can jump right into the pool from the living room (by opening sliding doors) or through the outdoor tub (which we didn't use as it looked a bit worn out given that it is outdoor and is constantly under sunshine).
The gym was small but sufficient for basic cardio workouts and two sets of weights machine. The common pool area on the other hand, was absolutely beautiful as while it was a distance away from the main beachfront, the hotel tried to bring the beach "closer" by having a flat sand pit area right below the pool and sundeck chair area. We loved how some of the chairs were located right above a shallow pool as it kept us cool and breezy.
Shopping Tip:
Turtle outlet right next door has some outlet shopping available. It's touristy of course but will be fun to bring kids to if you need to get out of the resort grounds for whatever reason.
