Amazing pool villa for couples

My stay was very nice. It could have been nicer if it wasn't for 2 external factors:
- We were unlucky - it was cloudly the whole weekend during our stay
- There are too much mosquitoes
Due to the lagoons nearby, you just can't avoid having mosquitoes. The hotel does provide a can of spray and other equipments to keep mosquitoes outside your room. Make sure you use them early enough before you get bitten by mosquitoes!

relaxing but not quite the standard I am used to

pleasant and attentive staff, slightly disorganised systems poor central kitchen ran food options , chaotic and holiday camp feeling breakfast. Tamarind excellent ( ate 3 times there) not quite 5 star , room dusty and beds never quite made properly. dirty cloudy spa pool with room that I would not use , rooms are old and tired (A/c leaked all over bathroom one night !) with very dated electronics. too far from beach . Hotel is simply too big to feel special and relaxed and tranquil.

Just an experience to acknowledge that we pay overcharged price for the brand, not the value. Kitchen leakage, safe no bettary(and not attend to it), etc.
But the staff are friendly and nice.

Lovely hotel but a few disappointments

visited the hotel last year when looking at the chapel for our wedding. we loved it and decided to stay there on the night prior to our wedding and the night of our wedding in jan 2013.
upon check in we were told we would have a late check out of 4pm, which was great because it was the day after our wedding. we were greeted with a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and a gift of a china elephant to place our wedding rings.
on the morning after the wedding we were told at 12pm that we had to be out of our room as someone else was waiting to get in. we hadn't even drunk our champagne or been in the jacuzzi yet as we thought we had until 4pm. they offered to put us in a different room for a few hours but we didn't think it was worth it. we also had a car collecting us at 4pm from the banyan tree so it meant we had to find alternative transport too. the banyan tree agreed to pay for a complimentary car to take us to our next destination in kamala but when the supervisor was asked to sign off on the car, we were then told it was not possible. we ended up waiting half an hour for a taxi.
we didn't let it bother us but it was a bit disappointing considering it was a very special day for us and cost us a lot of money.
we also heard that you have to pay for tennis rackets if you want to play. we can't confirm this as we didn't play but if this is the case its a rip off when taking into account the price of the room.

Luxurious Viila - must try once in a lifetime

Stayed at one of the larger villas with private pools. Villa was clean and well-decorated. Environment was peaceful. Wonderful for romance and honeymoon. Quality of staff performance at the Banyan Tree Spa is superb.

(Near) faultless

This was our third stay at Banyan Tree Phuket, which says something in itself; it really is almost perfect. The only let-downs were around room services: cleaning was done very late in the day and some basics such as mosquito repellent weren't replaced. Also, the 'Sands' restaurant listed in the in-room dining guide hasn't existed for a decade, apparently - surely this could be updated? Other than that, this is an outstanding place where the staff will do anything they can to help.
