This is a beautiful place, but you get the sense that it is aging. They need to replace carpets and bedding. Staff is friendly and courteous and overall I enjoyed my stay. I recommend Kata Beach to anyone going to Thailand.
Restaurant Tip:
Two Chefs across the road is great and reasonably priced!

Mom Tri's boathouse....a must!
The customer service was exceptional.The provision of iced water and towels as we sat on the lounges on the beach was a great touch ( at the pool too). The food was delicious and beautifully presented.Sitting outside on the terrace watching the world go by was great.Eating breakfast watching the surfers etc delightful.The hotel service in all respects was excellent. Mum cat and her kittens were entertaining. One of the best hotels i have been to for location and service.

We booked this hotel for one night and ended up staying for 4 fantastic nights...could have stayed longer!Everything about the hotel was great. they went out of their way to provide for your every need. The beach out the front of the hotel was really good with clean white sand and nice gentle surf.The pool was well maintained and both areas had comfortable cushioned lounges and the staff were at hand to provide towels, water and snacks. The restaurant was delicious and the Oasis bar and grill next door) which is owned by the same people was excellent as well. If I was going to return to Phuket I would not hesitate booking there again.

The whole place was excellent, service was superb, the rooms were lovely, food was great.

This was one of the best places i have stayed, the staff were so helpful and friendly and really couldnt do enough for you, the breakfast was delicious and the room was great. The location was great too, really close to the town. Really cant think of anything i didnt like about this place.

Mom Tri's was a fantasic small hotel on some of the best beach in Phuket. The staff went out of their way to help like providing iced water, cold towels and snacks while we were lounging on the beach sun lounges. The restaurant was excellent as was Oasis a more casual eatery beside the hotel they also own. We liked it so much we stayed again for a few days at the end of our holiday. Terrific!

Hotel management need to stop trading off the reputation of the dining awards at their restaurant. We arrived at the hotel at 2 am in the morning. Transport was 1400 baht, double of most comprable hotels in the same area. This is our 6 visit to Kata and Katathani beach hotels. The room was very disappointing and we chacked out for the next 11 days to the Katatani Beach Resort and Spa. Absolotely amazing, rooms 100% better. Disappointment that the manager did not try resolve our disappointments directly.

I suppose dining if you do not stay in the hotel

Position, Position, Position. The hotel sits right besides one of the best beaches in Phuket.

We arrived lateish at night to find the staff prompt and helpfull, providing a welcome drink overlooking the beautiful lights of the beach and surrounding reastaurants. Our beachview room was a little dated with a hard bed but we had everything we needed including free wireless internet connection. We would happily stay at Mom Tri's boathouse Hotel again as the benefits far outweigh the cons and there are still plenty of restaurants to choose from and plenty to do in the area.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Enjoy the free beach lounges and umbrellas along with the free cold water but get your drinks from the vendors nearby.

Great hotel and service except Internet!
Both restaurant are great, hotel is nice, breakfast is excellent! Interestingly the less expensive Oasis restaurant is a lot better in terms of service.

The hotel was beautiful, directly on the beach. Breakfast is just fantastic. Italian premium quality food is served. Freshly squeezed juices and freshly brewed coffee. The Winehous and grill restaurant boasts an award as best restaurant in Thailand. Food quality was incredible here but service was not as great strangely like in their other restaurant, the Oasis. Internet service is a disaster though. I could use it once or twice during the night only when all other guests were sleeping and did not use the net. Technical staff is totally untrained and useless. No other real options for net outside the hotel either if you want to use your own PC.
Nightlife Tip:
SKA bar on the beach. Excellent atmosphere, nice cocktails. Kata BBQ restaurant is perfect for lunch, cheap and great food.

Found this hotel due to some great reviews on Agoda -- definitely made good on our expectations! Was right on the beach in Kata with a perfect surf break and warm clear water... Very relaxing environment -- not your Cancun frat house experience, which was nice. Good blend of people and excellent service! The staff was great about answering questions we had and even wrote out a little Thai language cheat sheet so we could say "thank you" and "hello" without wondering if we had it right. We stayed during low season, which included a free breakfast with an omelet bar, pastries and juice... I'm looking forward to making another trip out to stay there soon!

I thought Mom Tri's (MT) would be an ideal location for a quiet retreat.
-I went in June (off season).
-While the view of the ocean was amazing, it could barely be seen from the hotel room due to untrimmed trees.
-The service was average to poor, which was shocking for Thailand. There was maintenance on the room next door and other rooms, making it hard to relax over the drilling and banging.Also,
I was watching a movie and the front desk cut it off 15 minutes before it ended.I asked if they could just finish it and they refused. They also wouldn't let me borrow the disc.Normally, I don't care about hotel movies;but, I thought the staffs' unwillingness to assist a customer was noteworthy.
-Decorated sometime in the early 80's and it showed,
-Breakfast was average...a surprise since it's kitchen is supposed to be well known.
-Walking immediately outside the front of the hotel can be dangerous, there's no sidewalk and traffic is quick.
BOTTOM LINE:
** There are better hotels in the same area for the same price (or less) **
