Nice and roomy with lots of little touches. Loved the free kayak and bikes! Friendly staff.

None

The suites are spacious and clean and well stocked. I enjoyed all of the little extras, like fresh flowers in various places as well as things like umbrellas, flashlights, and robes, etc. The location is a bit far from anything, but that's exactly why I chose it. It's more expensive in terms of transportation, though. But worth it. I took advantage of the free bikes and kayaks, although I should mention that if you set your sights on the small island across the bay be sure that you are in pretty good shape. It was tough, but well worth it. A word of caution at this hotel: watch your step. There are several places both in the room as well as in common areas where there are small steps. It's very easy to trip or bump your toes. Just look around when you first get there and notice where they are. I recommend this hotel.

It is far from all the bar scenes and everything that brings with it.

It is not close to anything at all. The 1 restraunt is not very good and over priced for what is served. The male server is very rude, if possible wait until he leaves or be sure to have one of the females as a waiter. The staff is very loud, they constantly slam doors in the hallway early in the morning and wake everybody up, I can't imagine why they do this. The room had a terrible smell to it, I think it must have been disinfectant to get rid of mold or something. The blankets are very old and smelled like dogs had been sleeping on them. Overall I would stay away.

There is a recently built Radisson just down the road from this hotel. I would highly recomend staying there instead for the same price. The hotel just is not a nice place to stay.

Restaurant Tip : walk out of the driveway and walk up the hill about 1/4 mile to the top of the hill. There is an ok little place there to eat.

different phuket. hotel is on the beach. very quiet location.

lots of stairs, but they have a club car to take you down to the restaurant, pool and the beach. the beach is not good for swiming due lots of rocks.

our room in the 3. floor was exellent. the pool is nice and the restaurant and room service was also good. can recomend if you wish to relax by the pool and beach. there is a free shuttle bus to phuket town to robinson mall.

Large suite style room with beautiful view. Out of the main tourist areas so it is quiet and family oriented.

At the far end of the island about as far away from the airport as possible.

We feel that this is an excellent place to stay with a family. It is beneficial to rent a car so that you can get around. The rooms are large with a kitchenette and an other room for watching television. Every room has a view of the bay or the pool. The value was excellent. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We will stay there again.

Restaurant Tip : Walk down the beach to the left (100 meters)for good seafood at a fraction of the hotel restaurant prices.

staff - friendly, thoughtful, willing to help; situation - right on the beach, outside town; rooms - good size with big 'fridge and cooking facilities if required; bathroom - walk in shower; coffee - good and 'real' (not Nescafe); downstairs rooms have sitting area at front in the light but upstairs rooms have better view with sitting area at back; very clean; washing machine/dryer available to hotel guests; internet access in lobby area and computer room;

breakfast orange juice - awful!; upstairs rooms have the view but sitting area is at back with no window; steps or very steep slope to beach, pool and restaurant - you need to be fit;

I find this hotel difficult to fault - it is what it is. If you are looking for shops and night life - rule it out but for tranquility and atmosphere it is great. There are a couple of very good alternative eating places along the beach and up the road. The beach is unfortunately stony and rocky as the tide goes out so not good for swimmers (could hotel do something about this?). I'd go back any time especially with deal from Agoda (better than hotel rack rate)!

Restaurant Tip : try eating further along the beach or walk a little way up the road - you won't be disappointed

Large, Clean Rooms

Far from town, activities

I stayed at By The Sea because of it's location to the sailing school I was attending, so it's off the beaten path location was not a hinderance to me. The rooms were large and clean, AC worked well and it had a nice balcony. The staff was courteous, however they would not extend a late check out on my last day despite the appearance of less then 50% occupancy. If you want a quiet time away from town on a nice beach (watch out for rocks in the water) and a great price, By the Sea is perfect.

Restaurant Tip : There are a couple rather hidden restaurants along the beach as well as just off the road from the hotel.

the view the tranquillity the rooms the friendliness of the staff

not sure there are any

This is the umpteenth time I've stayed at "By the Sea Residence" and it is my most preferred hotel in Phuket. Being in Phuket for business rather than leisure it is convenient for Phuket town, is quiet, is inexpensive, has free Internet facility, has a good pool for swimming laps and terrific staff. Breakfast by the beach is a wonderful start to the day. I shall continue making this hotel my Phuket "residence".

No loud music, peaceful and calm everyday, small and intimate.

Could use more local food at the buffet (mostly mildly bland Western style but plenty of it!) Occasionally very loud concerts from the Novotel nearby would intrude on the peaceful evenings, but if it was music we enjoyed we loved it. Swimming in the sea must be perfectly timed w/ the high tide, else it's impossible and icky to walk through the gooey mudflats during low tide to reach deeper water.

We stayed here for ten days, and absolutely loved the peace and quiet - very unexpected for Phuket. We especially appreciated the lack of blaring music at the "bar", and lack of excessive lights about the grounds. It basically had everything we needed/wanted: clean, spacious room, sea kayaks/mountain bikes, two daily shuttles into town for shopping, gorgeous landscaping and flowers. We did overhear some tourists complaining about how "there's nothing to do" (which for us was the main drawcard!) and others complaining about how expensive/difficult it was to find/reach the nightlife - it is quite out of the way, which for us was perfect but for clubbers/bargoers it would seriously cramp their style. Overall we are looking forward to returning next winter!

Shopping Tip : If you take the 10 am shuttle into town, don't ask to be dropped off at "Central" -it opens at 11 am -we didn't realise this and spent 30 mins in the courtyard sipping iced coffees but we wish we had known beforehand!

Excellent location by the seafront. Friendly staff. Rooms are clean, big and well equipped. Good sea kayak (that we used a lot) - excellent location to make short trips. Good bicycles.

Only one kayak was in use - once we had to loan one from the nearby hotel. Exchange rate for Euro was poor.

A beautiful and peaceful place. Only two small hotels and some villas at the appr. one kilometer long beach. The place is quite remote, but has everything that we needed. Five very nice restaurants in the area, that was enough for us (we don't need 500 restaurants to choose from). A couple of shops nearby, and a short distance to Phuket town where you can find big markets. One of the most important things for us was that it was an excellent base for paddling. We did several trips to the nearby island that was a very interesting place. The hotel was quite perfect for us: everything was of high quality.

We'd like everyone working there. They are nice and we get a warm welcome from them. The only one thing I'd like in Phuket is this hotel. Clean and quite big room and reasonable price.

The weakness is many rock in the sea which can not swim. The air conditioner in bedroom does not working well.

We drove to this resort and the way to resort is nice view. We love view over there. Once we reach to the resort we very surprised with a warm welcome, good service. The resort have a quiet beach as we've been looking for and every persons there are very nice. We've got a good hospitalize there. Nice breakfast, food and cocktail. We drank cocktail there every 3 nights we spent in this hotel. The room is clean / nice and the resort is look new.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The way to the resort will pass the nice view which can see the sea view. You can go to Big Buddha from the resort it's not too far.

Beautiful views, very friendly, responsive staff, clean beach, free bikes, free Internet, free sea kayak, free ride up & down from beach to lobby, one of the quietest areas of Phuket

It is a steep walk up & down to pool/beach, but able bodied visitors can easily do it. Staff does not speak or understand English very well. Hot water for showers was inconsistent. Taxi rides to town and resort hot spots are a bit pricey. (The prce you pay for some peace & quiet)

My wife and I liked it a lot and should we return to Phuket, we would stay here again.

The view is great, the staff were wonderful, the rooms are very nice.

Weak internet in rooms.

This is the place for quiet relaxation, which was exactly what we were seeking. The staff were always helpful during our week there, the room was quite large, and the view of the bay was spectacular. This was our first visit to this hotel and we will definitely be returning.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The Panwa Garden & Spa, just up the road, is a great place for a massage.
