lovely, secluded beach good, relative inexpensive restaurants friendly staff nice swimming-pools large balcony with good sea view

The rooms are clean and well-maintained, but could use a bit of updating

I know this hotel since 1995, have come back there often and was always content. I recommend it.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The Phuket Aquarium (next to the hotel's shopping arcade at the marina) is nice to visit on a rainy day!

We stayed at the Cape Panwa hotel for two weeks. The garden and the beach are beautiful. The morning restaurant offered a wide variety of food for breakfast, we enjoyed the beach the most, especially the wonderful staff. The room was clean and tidy. Tennis court is in beautiful place.

Rooms and corridors look rather old. Matress on our bed too.

It was our eighth trip to Thailand, but first to Phuket. Usually we were staying in Pattaya Royal Cliff, but after this five-star hotel Cape Panwa is beautiful for this money. If you want to be off the beaten track from the major tourist areas in Phuket, then this is the place for you. The hotel is situated in a very quiet area, food was great and more than sufficient. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it to my friends.

Hotel Feature Tip : For those who play tennis - the court is vacant almost all the way.

Private beach that is kept clean by a man sweeping it all day! Two pools - one overlooking the beach. English customer relations person!

Only weakness of the hotel are the bathrooms. They could do with updating but the lovely room makes up for them.

Cape Panwa is a great little find. A brilliant hotel with a private beach and two pools. It’s located at the bottom corner of the island, which looks remote when you look at the map, but it isn’t really, as the island is so small that you can get from the airport to the hotel in less than an hour. It is one of the unspoilt areas of Phuket and has more of a laid back feel to it. After sunbathing on the private beach all day you can retire to the main pool for a swim which is like swimming in a warm bath! Breakfast was great and staff very friendly and helpful.

Restaurant Tip : The restaurant outside the hotel, on the brow of the hill, is fantastic value and serves amazing food. You'd need to book though as it gets very busy. Get a sun shade early as some people are greedy and take 2 or 3!!

Good location, excellent private beach, nice staff, good service

Nothing special

Cape Panwa was the first hotel we stayed at on our trip, and we couldn't be happier about our choice. The hotel seems really well-run, and the rooms and facilities looks very good and well-kept. The beach is really nice! Palm trees line the beach, white sand and turqoise water. It's a bit rocky at low tide, but nothing we cared about. It's still mostly sand, and you can still take a bath when the tide is out. If the tide is low you can still go for a swim in the two pools, so we didn't care about the tide. They have free sunbeds and bath towels, and it's not crowded at all. We ate at all the restaurants, and the food is quite good. Especially at Panwa House, the curry there rocks! And what a beautiful location. All in all, a very nice hotel that will absolutely be on my to do-list the next time I go to Thailand. If you are young and single it might get a bit boring, and it's quite far away from both Phuket Town and other more happening beaches. But it's a great place to start of your tan and relax.

Hotel Feature Tip : The hotel spa is great! Cheap, excellent and the interior makes you feel calm already while you're waiting for your appointment.

Very well run hotel. Pleasant and friendly staff. Impressive dining location on the grounds - Panwa House.

The view from some of the rooms is of a distant oil terminal and large boats sometimes moor off the beach area.

A very well run hotel which has a quirky attention to detail - for example they offer a room with shower and refreshments for those who check out early and are waiting for a flight and give you a free drnk in one of the bars. The rooms are good and most, if not all, have a balcony with sea views (sometimes of an oil terminal in the distance). There are several dining options but we twice went to the Panwa House restaurant which is a stunning an old Sino-portuguese building on the grounds. To get there you take a tram down a hill from the main restaurant area to the beach side! The hotel does have a bit of a package destination feel (large groups of certain nationalities etc).

Definitely not my vision of a Phuket resort Guest Rating: 5.3

self-inclusive resort, private beach, reasonable rates, family friendly

Old and frayed, location limiting, not for a romantic, quiet or luxurious getaway, average rooms.

let me first give the reason for an acute disappointment on reaching Cape Panwa- we had been traveling around Thailand and Lao for about 9 days and hoped to finish in style at Phuket just lounging on the beach and enjoying the research. We are a couple in our early 30s. When we reached Cape Panwa, I could understand why it is recommended by guide books. It is a self-inclusive resort with it's own beach, good rates (making it good value for money) and is family (kid) friendly. However, we were dejected for several reasons. We were looking for something relatively more luxurious and elegant with nice rooms and a beach and some privacy. The Cape Panwa hotel has clearly seen better days. The resort definitely appeared old and frayed around the edges. The rooms (we had superior) were very average with uncomfortable beds and a bathroom, though clean, very tiny and unimaginative. This was not a room we wanted to relax or spend the day in. The beach is private access, but it is an ok beach and that is all that is there. If you want to walk around outside the resort, again not much to do. We walked down to Panwa village and it was quite uninspiring. The food is good, but the waiters were rather shabbily dressed. The place was packed with families and so if you are looking for a romantic escape or relative solitude, this is not the place. Internet is not free and is in a small room just below the reception.

Hotel Feature Tip : If you end up in place which is not what you expected to be, do not hesitate to be imaginative and flexible in your plans. Don't settle for less. The internet is an instant source of rates/availability for surrounding resorts. Calling the hotel directly and speaking to the reservation manager can be helpful.

Even though the hotel is quite old, it is well maintained and the staff are wonderful.

Travel tip : Go for the Jacuzzi Suite...beautiful!! Even though we liked our standard room we decided to upgrade for the last 3 days.

It is possible to apply for the solitary island tour at the hotel. The snorkel tube set prepared might not be the size that is not suitable and its old And The mini store's food, drink and daily neccesities is as expensive as the price in the town.

All in all the hotel was wonderful. Guests who had stayed there previously said it was not as good as before but people like saying that don't they?

Shopping Tip : Don't bother with Phuket town. Shopping is better at Patong. Use the hotel transport.

Watch dining at the restaurant - tax and service added (10%). The latter is quite high for the area. This hotel is better for the older crowd. We felt a bit out of place here.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Check out the aquarium nearby and take advantage of the shuttle service that the hotel offers.

The tides determine when you can swim at the beach. It's still very nice. You can splash at the water's edge to cool off.

Travel tip : Go for one of the day trips to the smaller islands - the snorkelling is great.
