nice and big hotel, but got room to improve their

the resort is nice and large, however the service really need to improve.
First, I have asked them whether there are larger room to change (with extra pay), the hotel was full, but they said they could not reserve one for me and asked me to check with the front desk everyday by noon. So everyday I checked with them at night when returned to hotel after my activity, the answer is NO. But how could I check exactly at noon which they said it's the best time when lots of people checking in/out.
Second, since the hotel is quite far from downtown, the taxi fareis around 800 - 1000 bahts for single trip which is expensive. Not until we asked if there are any other transportation, no one told us there is hotel shuttle go to Patong Beach once a day. There is no sign or anything in the front desk or hotel guide about this service. It cost us thousands bahts for the transportation before that.
Lastly, do take anything from the mini-bar, they will charge you on the day when they clean the room even though you refill them the last day of stay.

We enjoyed staying at Centara Grand West Sands very much. My kids enjoyed playing in the Splash Jungle Water Park very much. It's so convenient and we only took 3 minutes there from our room. Nice breakfast with many choices and varities. However, it's difficult to book the spa service as it seemed to be always full.

as with most reviewers, the hotel offers a good standard of accommodation and is well placed for the airport, if that's important to you. it is a big site and clearly set out as condos, not in anyway a hotel.
pros: waterpark, pool outside rooms if you are in block 4, access to the airport, wifi access.
cons: staff service, location, food and price, happy hour at bar (happy!?), beach.
the nearby location of nay an beach is much better to spend days if you want a good beach, cheap beer and good food and the hotel should supply a free transfer to it, not patong, which is overpriced and grotty.
make sure you book tours on line and not hrough the rep in reception, you will get a better deal on price.
overall a pleasant stay, but if it was not for the waterpark for kids then give a wide berth and book elsewhere.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Use Nai An beach, 400 bht in a taxi.

最欣賞此酒店為提升了房間為DELUX POOL VILLA 房間, 有一個十分好玩的水上樂園. 其他SERVICE, 房內設施有問題都不能在住宿其間修理好. Very satisfied for upgraping the room to be Deluxe Pool Villa, but slow respond, not enough staffs for serving customers, saw many complaing from guests and including me. But it's fantastic to get private pool into the room, this is the only selling point
Travel tip:
Have to consider the location and don't expect too much or compare to other resort and Villa. But if you paid less and got up grade the room, i could say it's fair
