As long-term residents in Thailand who have stayed in Phuket on numerous occcasions, we felt that the hotel was not good value for the money. We paid about $190 per our room at the Chedi, while much nicer private villa at Centara Villas Phuket will cost you only $60.

  • Restaurant Tip : Surin beach is just a short 10 minutes walk from the hotel and has a great selection of Thai and international restaurants right on the beach, from cheap to reasonably priced.

Overall a very good stay - we enjoyed our time at the Chedi.

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : John Gray Sea Canoe - we booked this through the hotel at £3900 baht per person. It was a great day trip and included transfers to and from the hotel as well as lunch and dinner on the boat. Would definitely recommend as a good way to see Ao Phang Nga and explore the hongs.

One additional comment- the shampoo, lotion, bath gel and other amenities were in adorable miniature clay "pots" which means they are refilled each day. I prefer using toiletries that I know have not been used before, which I can throw away when I am done using. If you are looking for a peaceful (yet within walking distance to many beach-side restaurants- try "Taste" restaurant), I highly recommend The Chedi.

I personally like The Chedi a lot. The location is perfect (fantastic beach) and the hotel is not brand new but has a lot of character. But I think that there is a big difference depending on the room you have. It is not a hotel for raining season because you need to walk to arrive to the main lobby and there are no nice places to be in case of bad weather (apart from your room and the restaurants).

  • Restaurant Tip : The restaurant at the Twinpalms hotel is very nice (moderm and stylist) with nice food and music (and prices are almost the same that in other restaurants around)

Difficult to stay with a young child. Better for a couple without children.

When checking out staff's attitude was not pleasant. Quite rude. That kind of attitude is very disappointing.

If you are a beach person, you might like this place. But considering the rates, the resort itself is not value for money.

  • Hotel Feature Tip : You need to go down early if you want to reserve a sun bed on the beach.
