If you're looking for a cheap, decent quality hotel in Phuket town, Chinotel is a good candidate. The room was clean, the hotel is fairly modern, free wifi with good signal, and the location in town is pretty convenient with many stores, restaurants, and markets nearby. The front desk staff were very helpful and even lent me a bowl and fork/spoon when I asked.

Modern and clean hotel. As a tip, use the hotel to get any transportation of sightseeing attraction. For the ferry to phi phi islands they offer it for 350 when others charge you 500.

Decent and proper for the price

The room was decent (a bit too small). View from the window was not great though with it facing parking lot of a market. Bathroom is small, clean, but there are several molds spots. In-room Wifi was not constant.
The best thing of this hotel is location. It locates just off the street where local buses for beaches depart and arrive. Good restaurants are in walking range.
Restaurant Tip:
Many foreign travellers find Phuket Town boring, but to local Thais, it is heaven for good food. Try Dim Sum, Rotis (Malay style fried pancakes), and local dishes which are the perfect mixture of Thai, Malay and Chinese dishes (you can find similar dishes in Penang, Malaysia). Stay here for a day or two for good food, after or before heading to beaches where you can only find pricey Westerners-oriented restaurants.

Small rooms but value for money

The rooms are quite small, but given the price we pay for it, it is definitely no surprise. I would recommend this hotel for overnight stay. The room is generally very clean as it is a new hotel.

Great location, but hotel does not have elevator

great location, value for money.
the hotel room have everything you need, esp mini fridge.
just a little bit disappointed that there is no elevator in this hotel. as we stay in the 4th floor, we have to step up to 4th floor everytime we back to hotel. quite a tired thing after a full day outing in the phuket town area.
Shopping Tip:
Market just beside the hotel, you can experience how the local life in the morning

clean room with free wifi and good facilities. great for if you want to explore phuket town. the interior is clean and comfortable but just outside is a bit dirty.
there is also no lift service but besides that, everything is good
