Large resort with many features

i crashed my scooter just before i was due to check in to the diamond cliff resort. i was mostly stuck in my room after that and couldn't move around the resort as easily as i would have liked. however, the staff were excellent, and being a hilly resort there are buggies pulling up out the front of the lobby all the time and they will run you around wherever you want to go in the resort. there was always a good place to park my scooter and security guards that would watch over it. the room i had didn't have that great a view but if you get an ocean front room i dare say that it would have.
Restaurant Tip:
If you eat at the resort you will be a lot less likely to get the explosive diarrhea that I had during my whole stay in Patong.

the hotel is giant and has good facility. bit of trouble to get to beach though as the hotel beach is small and full of stones and the road to patong has no side walk, you need to compete with cars for road. otherwise great hotel and great stay

Massive hotel at the northern end of Patong

this is a very large professionally run hotel at the northern end of patong beach - cloase enough to walk to the main attractions of patong - but quite enough - the hotel has great facilities in cluding 3 pools and 6 restaurants

Quiet location with nice view

My stay at the hotel was an enjoyable one. Though we were on the hllslope, we did not have a problem leaving the hotel promises as there was a regular shuttle service. I enjoyed the complimentary 1kg of fruit that I received during my stay there.

Um, I would have to really come up with some highlights. It was a grand hotel at one time.

they had airport pickup ticked and wouldn't honor that. I think they had the airport shuttle and local shuttle mixed up. That cost me about another $100 to get to and from the hotel. That aside, it's a big, old hotel that needs some upkeep. It's got all the right parts but they're a bit old. Because the week I was there, the place wasn't that full, it was quite boring. They have lots of restuarants, but the food is quite mediocre and empty. Then again, the food is mediocre all over the island in the restuarants. If you are an adventurous eater, there are lots of colorful food stalls in the markets. There's lots of climbing to be done in the resort, as the place is massive and built on the side of a mountain. They have constant shuttles taking people up and down to their rooms and other amenaties.
I would say that everyone there was nice, but there's probably so much competition now it's hard to keep up with standards. I guess I'm making excuses for them, but I wouldn't go back.
Okay, on the positive side . . . they had nice pastries and a tailor shop on site, so I had a suit and a tuxedo made. Good quality and very reasonable price.
