beautiful, new, boutique hotel with amazing views
amazing view, modern, cozy
8.3
Kalima is just far away from Patong that you get peace and tranquility, yet close enough for a quick night out in town if you want to party. I stayed there to be alone for some rest and relaxation, and I got exactly that. The hotel is not one of those huge giant chains with hundreds of rooms. It's a cozy, chic, modern boutique hotel that marries local Asian decor with today's designs. The pool was the highlight of the hotel. It's not a beach-side hotel, but the pool with the amazing views alone will be enough to keep you staying in. When I was there, there were some families with kids. I was worried at first, but it wasn't too much of a bother. My room was nicely decorated and furnished, bed was comfortable, and room service was good. You can always leave the hotel and walk around to explore local shops and restaurants, but I purposely came here for a solo getaway, and I got just that.
Shopping Tip:
If you go to the mall and legitimate shops, you won't have bargaining power. For smaller shops and street vendors, make sure you do some bargaining. And don't buy anything without asking for the price first. I once got ripped off by a kid selling grilled corn. We ordered one, he gave us one that had been sitting out for a while (no longer warm), and charged us 150 baht for it. When asked why so expensive, he pretended he didn't know English, although his pronunciation of his limited vocabulary was suspiciously good. With any tourist-heavy area, you're bound to attract scammers and cheaters. Just exercise common sense.

Great hotel, but isolated location.
Atmosphere, professional service
8
Very clean, well-designed hotel with professional staff and good features (such as relaxing pool).
Some features such as the artificial sand area and mini-golf was still in the construction stage, so we were disappointed that it felt like false advertising on their website, where it claims these features are available at this hotel.
The location is also a big minus. We were happy that we weren't in the 'heart of Patong' where it is very rowdy day and night, but the hotel is just a bit too far up the hill. It's isolated with no restaurants, except the actual hotel's, or shops. To get to the shops (even a convenience store), you need to use their free shuttle buses (runs only 3 times daily, and last return trip back to hotel ends at 5pm). We usually used their shuttle bus to get to Patong, but ended up having to tuk-tuk it back up the hotel after dinner - which cost us an average of 300-350 baht from Junceylon Shopping Centre area, in Patong.
Meals were excellent at the hotel. Breakfast (included in room charge) had quite an extensive selection (ended up being our most looked forward to meal of the day!). We had lunch at their Lima Restaurant which is decently priced and good tasting clean Thai food. We also had dinner at the 6th floor restaurant, but it was rather expensive here. Taste was decent, but not fantastic considering price.
The layout of the hotel is a bit of a maze. Lots of different types of rooms. We had 11 people, sharing a total of 4 rooms on 2 different 'areas'. We often got lost, and just decided to meet at the lobby or pool.
Design is very simple, modern and sophisticated. Clean and calm atmosphere.
Overall a nice resort, but wouldn't really stay there again on my next trip to Phuket purely because of the location.

I think the staff in this hotel and Phuket in general are sick and tired of tourists, even though tourists are what hold the economy up here. The service seems to lack in care and attention and are very abrupt.
Rooms were nice but the plumbing has major issues as you could smell the sewage every time you entered the room until you "got used to it".
The pool area which includes a pool bar is very nice until you realise you can't get a deck chair because they have not thought through how many guests might be staying at their resort. We had to set up and lay our towels on the wooden floor at one corner of the pool near a room corridor. Plenty of space IN the pool but not enough AROUND it.
A lot of walking up and down stairs to get to the elevators to reach the pool/lobby/dining areas.
Shuttle to the the mall are very limited (2-3 trips a day)
Breakfast selection was quite good. For lunch and dinner I would go elsewhere as the prices are higher in the resort and the food is probably better outside.
Restaurant Tip:
A nice restaurant with a view just a short walk down the hill. Much cheaper and more authentic than the food in-house. Just watch out for the ants!

The best hotel in Thailand I have ever stay at!
Great hotel, fantastic view, away from the noise but near enough to go party!
10
I pick this hotel because of the great pool that had, everything was brand new, but the best of all is the people that worked there, especially in reception
I was only going to stay 3 nights and then move to a cheaper hotel, they end up giving me a great deal and end up staying over 2 weeks!
The Breakfast is fantastic, I just cant describe how much I enjoy my stay here, I would highly recommended, the best is the pool view, is good that is away from the noisy Patong, and a 5 min ride in a cheap taxi will get you there for a great night life.
Room was my home, I will be back soon for more good service and fantastic food in the 2 restaurants on site... Remember the view here is priceless!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
If you want a great private beach, go to Paradise Beach....

Loved this hotel so much we came back again
9.7
Amazing hotel - pool needs cleaning though, music in pool area is the same every day and needs changing, cocktails seem to have no alcohol in them, dinner menu needs to change also.
Views from the restaurant are amazing and the staff is great.

Cannot expect the service
4.7
This hotel point is "new", and that's all you can expect.
Yes, facility is new, but build is cheap. Furniture is also quite cheap build. Room clearness is not enough even it's new. Staff "Service" cannot reach as 4 or 5 star hotel.
Almost staff needs to be told what they have to do for the guest.
Only one or two staff have enough hospitality mind. But they can not cover all of the hotel. Definitely I would not stay this again.

Lovely Resort, Friendly Staff & Nice Sea View
Newly Resort in phuket town, hotel breakfast with lots of food selection & food yummy yummy
8.3
Customer service is good in Kalima Spa Resort! Overall we are very happy & satisfy with our stay with Kalima for 4N3N phuket holiday. Just one things have to take note that some of the hotel room equipment (eg bathtub, lamp light ..) might not in good working condition, suggest the hotel to have regular checking & maintainence on their facilities. Other than that, I'll like to rate "Very good" for this Resort! Will come back again!
Shopping Tip:
There is shuttle Bus from hotel to send guest to Phuket town for shopping, patong beach etc.

Great hotel, great service, amazing room!
the rooms are gorgeous, five star with balconies and tubs overlooking patong bay...

the service is impeccable, the food fresh and tasty (pricey though), and the rooms are gorgeous, overall i had a great experience for the price. however, the hotel is not near the nightlife, it's about a 15 minute tuk tuk ride into town. be aware of this, the hotel does free shuttles 3x a day but you will have to arrange your own ride otherwise.
Hotel Feature Tip:
wake up for the continental breakfast, a beautiful spread!

great view and hotel facilities
fantastic view, modern and new decor and furnishings, good facilities
7
kalima is a new resort and so the furnishings are modern, clean and new. it was a joy to go back to the hotel. housekeeping was very attentive. on our first night we opened a bottle of the shower gel and used only a tiny bit of it but the next day they gave us a new bottle on top of the one we opened. it's the tiny attention to details like this that impressed us. the buffet breakfast was one of the most extensive we've had and it was more like a lunch spread than breakfast. we enjoyed having breakfast there every morning. the view from the restaurant was beautiful too! all around view of the beach and with high airy ceilings. you can't ask for a better place to dine.
the only bad thing is probably the process of checking in. check out time is 12pm and usually in other hotels you can probably be checked in about 1pm. but at kalima we waited till about 3pm before we were finally in our room. there was nothing else to do except to wait around the lobby or go visit the pool (which is very pretty by the way!). the reason why we had to wait so long was because the hotel's check out time is actually pretty flexible, they call you up at 12pm to remind you to check out but they don't actually follow up again and the guests end up taking their time to emerge from their rooms at 2pm. this was not an isolated issue. we stayed for 2 nights in the seaview deluxe room and 1 night in the grand seaview deluxe and when it was time to check in into our new room we were faced with the same problem of guests taking their time to check out. for both times we waited till about 3pm before we were finally sitting in the room. when we were waiting to check in, we did ask reception a couple of times when our room would be ready but they merely said the guests haven't checked out and they don't know what time they will check out. this frustrated us immensely! but it was a supposed to be a chilled out holiday and we decided to take things slow and not rush ourselves too.
