Worn hotel with bad customer service

When checking in the staff were very unfriendly, one of the women moving away as soon as I got to the reception desk. I had to move to another person - no one bothered to get up to check me in.
There were no smiled or welcome.
We were shown into a room, and as we had a son with us, it was pointed out straight away that we would have to pay extra for him - no offering of an extra bed. When I challenged this by saying let me know about the locked up extra bedroom in the room, if we could be upgraded to have the room - and how much would this be, no one bothered to get back to us.
The aircon in the main living room could not cool the room down.
the Bathrooms would have been nice in their hey day, however had grouting missing from places. No hand towels in one bathroom, - maybe we had to pay extra for these?
Coffee table had not been cleaned since it's purchase - it had ingrained black dust thickly set in its weaving. Rug had stains on it.
The hotel is squished into a small area, so that you feel everyone is on top of each other. There is also no private place to sit and sun bake near the pool.
The hotel wants to charge 60 BHT for "ice", when every other hotel we've been to in Phuket doesn't. You can buy ice for 7BHT at a 7 eleven shop by the way.
Breakfast is average. There is a queue to get coffee & tea. The person cooking eggs can only serve one person at a time, although there are 2 hotplates available, and he just wipes the pans with a paper towel between users, so not good for any strict vegetarians.

Spacious Room but Far Location

The rooms are spacious with great facilities. However, the location is far from the market. If you come with young kids, then you have to spend TB200.00 to Karon town market or the hotel will provide a free ride per day to Karon town.
The dinner is good and beyond our expectation. However, the food for the breakfast is same throughout the 4 nights stay in the hotel. Furthermore, the waitress service is bad who she will not respond to your request until you repeat calling for several times.
Generally, the hotel is good.

The room was much smaller! The pool was also smaller than expected. however, overall the staff, food and friendliness was 10/10. The pool is great for kids and the beach is only a five minute drive down the road.

Lovely resort with spacious rooms big enough for 6

The room is great - it's good value for money esp we got it with early bird discount. Very nice beds and pillows. Well equipped kitchenette.
The resort changed its name after we booked it and when we arrived the address, we couldn't find the hotel (we booked under Dewa Karon name) and we had a hard time asking around cos there weren't many people around there. Eventually the security guard saw us looking lost and came to ask us where we were heading and indeed we were right at its doorstep.
The reception area is just a small mtg room set-up. Nothing fanciful but it does the job. Staff are polite except one particular waitress at its restaurant who pulled a long face throughout the 4 days we were there.
The pool is kinda small but good enough for kids to hv some water play. Just that the water isn't the cleanest - lotsa dead leafs and bugs floating in the water every morning.
We rented a car and had no problem getting a lot but it meant we had to park very near to the kerb along the drive way. There's no lift to our suite (we stay at the penthouse karon suite that's in 3/f) and the stairs are kind of steep for my elderly mother-in-law who has weak knees. She had sore legs after the 2nd climbing up and down the stairs just for breakfast. Breakfast selection is limited but it has what people normally eat - bread, eggs, sausages, pastries, cereals and fruits. More than enough for 5 of us. But food items are largely the same every day.
We saw some folks walking down to the beach and we reckoned that the walk should be about 10-15 mins for a person without any knee or leg problems. If you are traveling with very toddlers and elderly, the walk is quite a challenge.
All in all, we had an enjoyable 4-day stay and we will consider this resort again when we next visit Phuket. My fussy MIL, despite the steep stairs she had to climb everyday, has been telling everyone how nice and spacious the room is.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Get the family suite on first floor if u t traveling with old folks. But these rooms are facing the foot paths leading to restaurants and this privacy might not be minimal.

Very nice hotel, large rooms.

Nice and clean hotel. Got picked up at the airport right on time. Arrived late and got a quick check in.
About a 10 minute walk from the beach and the center of Karon town. Really spacious rooms and a nice pool. The breakfast was decent and the restaurant location was good.
The spa was good. The whole family had a good massage.

A bit remote from the main road and beach. Car rental may be necessary. Only one king/ queen size bed in both room. It would be better to have two beds in either one room for a family suite.Bad smell from tiolet occasionally detected.
Staff are polite and helpful.

We have stayed family suite for 8 days. The room was fine and it has a kitchenette with full facilities. But during the night and sometimes day when there is no wind, the smell from outside was terrible which comes from the water cleaning factory just next to the hotel.

cramped resort but good rooms

we stayed over the peak season so budget played a part in the choice of this hotel. for what we paid, it was good value. but if we were to visit during low or shoulder season we would choose somewhere else for these reasons
location - its located up a hill which isnt the bad thing - its the walk passed rubbish dumps, horrible waste land that is the big turn off. once this is more developed in a few years it wont be so much of an issue.
hotel itself - not really a resort, more a hotel with a pool in the middle. its cold too as the surrounding buildings prevent it from being heated by the sun. our room (from the back) overlooked a sewage treatment plant.
service was ok, apart from the reception lady handing us dvd's to borrow in thai, and reception making us wait whilst they "check the room". the lady in the bar doesnt seem too happy about giving you happy hour prices neither - you have to remind her.
rooms - the ground floor are best. spacious and comfortbale with terrace outside. if you dont have the ground floor then you cant really jump from sunbed to pool, and there arent many available sunbeds poolside for anyone to use .
Restaurant Tip:
Ska bar /restaurant at the end of Kata beach . Good food and very cheap.

lovely hotel with great pool setting

i stayed 1212, it is not by the pool, but just a few steps away. i like the pool surrounding the restaurant in the centre. the suite is huge, with 2 toilets. nice open plan kitchen with all the utensils, though we never cook. bed was quite comfy too. there was some bad review online about breakfast, but i find it quite ok, with various bread pastries sausage, made to order eggs, fruit juice , salads and fruits etc. great to sit beside the pool for breakfast.
Travel tip:
about 10 to 15 mins walk to karon beach
