Proximity to beach was excellent; beach was beautiful and clean; rooms are spacious and spotless; hotel had lovely landscaped grounds. Staff seem a little jaded with all the tourists, especially the pool staff (but who could blame them?) We stayed at the Kata Resort and Spa in October, and were pleased with the choice. We booked the room on agoda.com; the rate did not include breakfast. There was no transport offered from the airport to the hotel (about a 30-40 min ride with a little traffic). Upon arrival, the front desk staff were efficient. The rooms were very clean and very comfortable. The decor in the rooms was nice, but it was obvious that the rooms need just a little bit of an update. The location was right on the beach and the beach was lovely and clean. The pool was very nice with adjacent outdoor salas where you can get massages. The food by the pool was fine (not extraordinary) and was a bit expensive considering other options near the hotel. Overall, it was a nice stay and we'd recommend for others to stay here.
One drawback was that staff could stand to be a bit more courteous. I am a woman of Southeast Asian descent (though American-born) and my husband is of Caucasian descent, and though I understand that 'transactional couples' are rather common in this region, I do tire of having hotel staff assume that I am a prostitute. The irony is that I am the one paying for the stay. In any case.
Restaurant Tip : Across the street from the hotel are some small places to have a relaxed and inexpensive breakfast (if the room did not include breakfast). There is also an Indian restaurant called Dubai that had excellent service and food for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Best location beside the beach. The massage was not as good as Chinese massage. We really liked our stay at Kata Beach. Its perfectly located and the beach is super. The personnel is very kind. The facilities are the best. The outdoor pool is perfect for children. The sun beds are easily available and the service is good. Can really recommend it to everyone.
Restaurant Tip : Kata Mama on the left end of the beach.

Good location, close to nice restaurants and bars. Difficult to communicate with the staff. Besides the communication barrier, we had no major issues. Make sure the staff understand your requests, they can get really angry when trying to communicate. if you don't relax, you can get really upset.
Restaurant Tip : Rico's restaurant, very close to the resort, have a good selection of wine and food is great but doesn't accept credit cards.

Nice layout, next to the beach. The interior color, too reddish almost like the Chinese shrine. Good food but the room is a little bit old and dusty,very good location -next to the beach and perfect surrounding area, a lot of shops and restaurants. Nice personnels.

Extremely friendly staff. Large rooms, with good view. Plenty of bathroom accessories. Excellent choice for breakfast. Beach towel system could be improved. Hygiene in breakfast room with birds flying around freely and picking up scraps from serveries. Internet access only for 1 hour at a time. Could be better if available by the day or week. Our stay at the hotel was very enjoyable. The hotel is ideally situated, on the beach and yet right in the town of Kata. Facilities were very good. Cleanliness was good, except for in the restaurant for breakfast with birds flying around and picking up scraps of food from the serving plates. Not very hygienic! Staff were very friendly and eager to please. We will definitely recommend it and consider returning if we come back to Thailand.
Restaurant Tip : Bella Vista restaurant on the hill.

Excellent location, right on the beach and right across the road from lots of shops and restaurants.
Room was large and comfortable with a nice ocean view. Use of wireless internet is a bit expensive, but this is unfortunately normal for resorts in Thailand. This was our second time to Phuket and our first time to Kata beach. The hotel was very nice and surpassed our expectations. We have a 3 year old daughter and found it to be very child friendly. The breakfast was above average. The location is perfect, being right on the beach and close to lots of shops and restaurants. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable, and had a good view of the pool, gardens and ocean.
Travel tip : Watch out for the undertow during monsoon season!

The location,the beach,the price the hotel is very,very nice,the location is great,just on the beach with no road in between,the place is quiet and peaceful.it has two pools,but the relaxing one is really amazing.I love it!!! The thai massage right on the beach....awosome!!!! I surelly recomend it,we had a great time at Kata beach resort!

Beautiful pool and grounds; staff was thoughful and very helpful; a little slice of paradise Guest relations desk could not provide many answers to questions or requests we had - we had better luck taking to the Taxi & Tours desk We were delighted with our stay at Kata Beach Resort & Spa! They had all of the amenities of a premier hotel and the staff was gracious and attentive during our time there.
The pool and sea views were outstanding and the service at the pool bar was prompt, in spite of the fact that they were constantly busy serving all of the guests that frequented the pool.
Additionally, the seaside massages were a great value and one of the best we had during our trip to Thailand!
This hotel is in a prime location and you can easily walk along the well-maintained sidewalks into downtown Kata and up to Karon.
We left and went to the islands for a week and decided to spend our last night in Southern Thailand back at Kata Beach Resort & Spa. I would suggest this place to my friends and family!
Restaurant Tip : The Summer Coffee House up the road is a great and relaxing place to grab an espresso and check email!

The ease of access to the best beach in Phuket We loved our stay in the hotel so much that we decided on an extra night. The rack rate was about THB4200 so all I did was a live chat with the Agoda team from a local internet cafe and we got their rate which works out about half the price we were quoted at the front desk! The Agoda team were excellent and got everything sorted in about 45 mins.
Restaurant Tip : Another excellent Restaurant which is run by the same group as the Boathouse is Mom Tri's Kitchen. Definately worth a visit if you are into good food.

Clean, friendly, excellent position on the beach. Slightly smelly drain in the bathroom that was freshened up by the room attendant. The hotel is in a perfect position on Kata Beach. The sun sets directly in front of the hotel, it's very close to all the restaurants at the southern end including the relaxing and funky Ska Bar which is tucked under a massive tree right on the beach. The free barbeque and fire show on Friday nights are well worth a visit.
Restaurant Tip : The Boathouse next door (on the Beach) is our favourite restaurant in Thailand. It has the best service and exquisite food, with one of the best wine lists in the world (according to the Specataor Wine Awards)

The location is really good, right on Kata beach, one of the nicest beaches in Phuket. Nice size rooms, and nice decor I arrived late at night and had a hard time communicating with the desk clerk. However in the day and evening no problems with communication I have been to Kata Beach before but this was my first time at this hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are large and my room had a great view of the large pool and the beach. The breakfast is first rate and the staff are very helpful. There are many restaurant's and shops nearby. I will definitely stay here again.

Right on the beach. Very close to restaurants and only a short trip to Patong Not enough deck chairs. Cleaning staff very lax. Air conditioning not as good as it could be. Had a great time, despite a few minor problems. Overall, this hotel is in a great location and very close to restaurants, shopping, etc>
