If communication is a problem, be persistent until you talk to someone who understands English.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Be sure to book a trip to Phi Phi Island from Chalong Bay through a travel agent in town for the best deal. Be sure to visit many agencies and bargain for the right price as prices vary from company to company. Be sure that your package includes lunch and admission to the National Park.

May is low season, weather was good, only some typical showers mostly in the night.
- Restaurant Tip : Cheap but good Thai restaurants on the beach within five minutes' walking distance.

Don't bother going in February, the guide books don't tell you this, but there are stingers in the water at the beach and islands, that can be potentially fatal if they sting you. If you go this time of year you can only swim in the pool at the hotel
- Restaurant Tip : Kata Mamas on the beach is really good and has very reasonable prices. Natalie's in the main street is also very nice food, with good prices and very friendly staff.

My only comment is that I can't wait to go back and stay at Kata Beach Resort again, it was a real treat.
- Hotel Feature Tip : The best feature of Kata Beach Resort was the beach front location.

It was a nice resort, tropical surroundings and friendly staff but the hotel food was disappointing and the room a bit ordinary for the price.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Don't use the hotel tour agent - go to one of the many across the road for at least 30% saving and friendlier service.
