Staff are not well trained, not friendly, not polite. I found coffee ground in the cups provided, finger prints and grease all over the plates, very old towels, slow internet, security deposit box didn;t close, called but noboday showed up,called next day, they fixed it and stopped working again next day, turned out the battery needs to be replaced. Staff doesn;t speak much English, doesn't get what you mean. Bought 4 tickets for FantaSea show from hotel travel agent, was charged 1000 Bht more than friends who bought tickets from another hotel. Made a call to a local mobile for about 2 minutes, was cahrged for 100 Bht,not sure about that.

Great Thai atmosphere and close to the beach

We (2 adults and 2 children; 9 and 11 years old) spent 2 weeks in this hotel from Dec 16th - Dec 30th 2012. This was our first visit to Thaland and our first Christmas away from home, but there were Christmas lights, Christmas trees and Christmas music all over. On Christmas eve there were a gala dinner at the hotel (mandatory at all hotels), and Santa Claus arrived in a tuk-tuk.
Great pool area, but might be shady due to lots of palm trees and high buidlings. At the same time the palm trees etc gives the pool area a quiet and great atmosphere. Breakfast where you could get a freshly made omelette, eggs and bacon, toast and even some Thai dishes. Very helpful and friendly staff at the hotel.
Just 5 minutes walk to Kata beach. Great sandy beach with sunbeds for bath 100 and jetskis, banana boats and longtailboats if you would like to go to another beach. We reccomend to go to Kata Noi and Nai Harn a little bit longer south. 15 minutes with a tuk-tuk for baht 400.
We have already started to save up for a new trip to Thailand in February 2014.

My family of 3 took a short vacation and spent 3D2N at Kata Palm. We will greeted with a smile and friendly service at check in. The room was ready and the check in process was a breeze. We are pleased with the overall cleanliness of the room and the retire resort facility, given the fact that it's over a decade old. Breakfast was reasonable and sufficient. My daughter enjoyed the pool. Being near shops which are sprawled all along the street in front of the hotel was absolutely convenient. Our overall experience of this resort may be summarized into this ... Simple, sweet and sufficient :)

As per the pics on Agoda the superior room pool view looks as if it has two double beds, well they were quite small and we required an extra bed for our daughter,that was not going to happen so we had to upgrade at quite a substantial cost, so we didn't get off to a great start. Anyway, breakfast was brutal, yesterdays bread/croissants, flies all over the show,not impressed. Room cleaning was not good at all, they didn't even clean the toilet and we had to ask nearly everyday for the coffee/tea to be replenished, very average. Plus side, the pools were beautiful, the room we had in the end had it's own pool access, very nice. Staff generally quite helpful but this is not a place I would recommend or go back to. I've been to Thailand 6 times and this was the worst place I stayed in. Location wise, some good shopping for sure, 10 min walk to beach.

we had a really nice impression in kata palm, nice swimming pools and variety of breakfast. it's not far away to kata beach. we were satisfied with all of facilities of our room, i like the private balcony so much, it's very relaxing and comfortable when we stayed over there. you only need to do one thing, that is how to avoid to be attacked by those crazy mosquitoes. overall, i like this hotel. it's a good choice if you want to stay in kata.
Nightlife Tip:
Not far away from Kata beach, restaurants, many markets, 7-11 is near.

This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel and sadly the quality seems to be declining each year. The breakfast whilst there was ample, did not have its usual zing. The choices were quite bland. We booked two rooms and although they were not the same room type we requested that they be as close as possible. When we arrived they had us in a room on the first floor and a room on the fourth floor. It was disheartening that they thought it was acceptable to put a 10 year old and an 11 year old in a room on their own on the fourth floor in a foreign country. When we requested that this be changed it was almost as if it was too difficult. Their english skills seem to be declining as well, their was two staff on the front desk that could barely understand english and had to get the manager to address our query.
The location is handy and we enjoy being out of the hustle and bustle of Patong. The pool access rooms are great and we do enjoy just walking out the door and hopping into the pool. I think that customer service definitely needs an improve.

Comparing with Patong beach area, night life in Kata wasn't attractive, but you can found most facilities nearby eg. restaurant, convenience stores, money exchange etc.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Transport fee by tuk tuk is quite high even just travel to closes area, thus bargain before riding on is a must.
