Great location, with own private beach and a great resort lifestyle.
After spending six nights in Patong Beach, we relocated to the South to spend some time to relax. Katathani has the option to do as little or more if you want. Everything that you need is in the Resort if you don't want to go outside. The staff are more than helpful, and very friendly. They even give you the option to assess your bed after the first night and they will change it to suit! Breakfast is glorious, so much to choose from. Booking with Agoda was simple and hassle free.

If you like night life this is a bit far from it
The hotel is located on Kata Noi beach which is a quiet almost private beach. We stayed in a Junior Suit which was nice. We have stayed before and found the place good then and we got the same again here. We will also return as it is ideal for a relaxed time. The hotel is a good size and well kept. We like the pools and the breakfast is always good. I would recommend that you always pre book you transfer to the hotel and otherwise there can be hassle when you get to Phuket airport from other taxi drivers
Hotel Feature Tip : Always pre book your transfer from the airport

The Kata Beach. The swimming pools and bars nearby.
Service hours of the restaurants and other entertainments are so fixed and limited.
1) The Deluxe room with two queen size beds is just so comfortable with modern room design.
2) The food and beverage at the Cinn.. (one of the hotel restaurant that I forgot the name) is so delicious. I tried the chef's recommendation on my first day there. Then I knew I would probably keep going to that same restaurant if I could stay for a couple of days more.
3) KataThani has the best beach which was only a few minutes walk from lobby. The sand here is so soft. And best of all, there are not many people around. It wasn't noisy at all.
It was a perfect choice to stay with KataThani:)_
Hotel Feature Tip : We had to order room service when we were back from downtown around 11:30p.m... How I wished the bar in the hotel could opened 24 hrs...

Pools, Breakfast area and its beach is excellent
Location is a downside. Bath towels are not immediately replaced by the cleaners, which i have to call for it every day.
The room is splendid at Thani Wing and its view of the shoreline and beaches is so beautiful. Everything is so good that felt sad on out last day at Katathani. Its pool and facilities are up to our expectation. The only bad thing is that there is limited transportation from the hotel to other attraction sites.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : It is better to book attraction and sightseeing trips out of the hotel at those small travel agents. They offer better discounts, which the hotel do not offer.

Adjacent to a superb beach.
Generous proportions for the hotel rooms.
Friendly and cheerful staff who are always willing to help.
Some staff need to improve their English (but it is only a small number).
The Katathani Beach Resort is adjacent to a superb sandy beach in the southern part of Phuket. It offers generously proportioned rooms, excellent pools and pool-side services, and fantastic views across the Andaman Sea. There are several dining room options, all with sea views and the facilities are all in excellent condition and very well maintained. The Katathani Beach Resort is a great location for a short holiday or a longer break from day-to-day life.
Hotel Feature Tip : The tour desk is staffed by people who really know Phuket and their guidance could not be faulted. They always knew the best tour operator and were very efficient in booking tours.

Very nice beach and pool area.
Close to some shopping areas.
Difficult to get internet access. My room did not offer it, had to use the computer center, and the connection there was a bit dodgey.
Somewhat hard to get a drink or food at the pool, you have to hunt someone down who will help you.
I thought the hotel would be a bit more secluded. It has direct access from the commercial road, but once you are in the hotel compound, all of that is left behind quickly.
Overall I enjoyed my stay at Katathani. It is a nice hotel for the price. It is not a five star as the writeup suggests though. The common areas, such as elevator and hallways are rather drab, the rooms are nice, but not 5-star. 3 or 4 star though and comfortable.
The beach at the hotel is quite nice, and is not plauged by tour and souvenier vendors like other beaches. It's quite peaceful and you can move between the beach and the pool quite easily. The pool area is expansive and very relaxing.
In terms of cons, it is difficult to get internet access. My room did not offer it, had to use the computer center, and the connection there was a bit dodgey. It was also somewhat hard to get a drink or food at the pool, you have to hunt someone down who will help you.
I had thought the hotel would be a bit more secluded. It has direct access from the commercial road, but once you are in the hotel compound, all of that is left behind quickly.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : In Phuket I would highly suggest taking a day boat trip to surrounding islands for snorkeling or diving. If you purchase the tour outside of the hotel it's about half the price.

Near beach, quiet, and beautiful
A little far away from city town
Nice stay here, room is spacious and beautiful. It is a little bit far away from city and patong beach, which makes it be very quiet. If you want to have quiet and sweet time with your lover, this would be a good choice. The hotel also provide nice breakfast. And there were a few very nice restaurants nearby. Although we stayed here only for one day, we have great memories.
Restaurant Tip : Two restaurants near it are very nice.

perfect position. ( just in front of the beach) and good service.
food is a little bit expensive
we only stayed for 1 night and it was raining season. But we still got a chance to swim a little bit in the sea because it is so close. The hotel is good for its service and position.

The location to the beach was excellent.
Breakfast every morning offered everything you could ask for.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The pools were kept exceptionally clean. In fact the whole resort was kept spotlessly clean.
On the one day of the week that they offered yoga as an activity, the instructor was sick and there was no replacement.
The bed was HUGE in our room but the blanket wasn't long enough to cover the entire bed, so our feet stuck out the end.
Kata is a public beach so if you want to use the loungers, you have to pay 200 baht. The beach was also a little dirty, although a team of volunteers did come through every day to clean it up a bit.
The hotel was everything we could have asked for. It was directly on the beach and ran the entire length of Kata Beach, so it felt like it belonged to us. It didn't though, it is a public beach and you will get charged 200 baht for using the loungers on the beach, so beware!
Every day we were there, they had the red flags out (no swimming) although there was no rip - just a few choppy waves; one day it was even like a mill pond and the flags were still out. The water was warm and clear. We swam every day without any problems.
The hotel is split in two - with the Thani wing being on the beach side. Be aware of this when booking.
The staff were great and helped us with everything from changing our flight and booking another night to changing money and ordering taxis. Everyone spoke English (to some degree) and they were always happy and smiling.
I arranged a transfer from the airport directly with the hotel before leaving Australia for 1200 baht. But you can get a taxi for 800 baht. Although the arranged transfer was a nicer car (with seat belts!) and they gave you bottled water and a refreshingly cold face towel for your trip. Took about 50 minutes from the airport to the hotel.
Our room was fantastic (Grand Thani Suite), looking straight out to the beach, in full view of the sunset. The shower was amazing (like standing under a waterfall), although the bed was very hard. They will change your mattress though. There is a card asking if your mattress is too hard or too soft. Unfortunately, we didn't find this card until the day before we left!
There are some great little restaurants across the road that are very cheap and authentic. We dined at these most nights.
We would definitely go back to this resort. It was top class.
Restaurant Tip : Dine across the road from the hotel in the small local restaurants. You can get a fantastic phad thai for 80 baht, washed down with a Chang for 50 baht. A very cheap lunch/dinner alternative.

Beautiful facilities, very modern, super nice staff and peaceful beach.
We were looking for a quiet and peaceful beach and that's exactly what we found at this hotel. The room was perfect for us, clean and modern. The hotel has several restaurants to choose from and we especially enjoyed thai choices. The hotel has a great spa by the beach. We were very lucky for rainy season (didn't rain at all!) and it was less crowded and less expensive! We loved it!
Nightlife Tip : If you're looking for nightlife I don't recommend this hotel, as it is far from Patong and Phuket center.

Very open and spacious, great room with ocean view, great service.
The resort is great. We booked the junior suite and the room is wonderfull. Ocean view and lots of space. The surroundings are also wonderfull. Very open and lots of space for sunbeds. Kata beach is not very far from the other beaches but not as busy. If you rent a scooter everything is accessible. The food and services in the resort are also very good. I will definitely stay here again.

Wonderful beach, with a sunset worth the trip.
-No bathtub on the room. However, the biggest shower I ve ever used.
-Noisy air-conditioning.
-Bhuri wing is somewhat separated from the rest of the hotel.
-Somewhat distant from Kata center, and with no shuttle service to go there.
We spent a short week at kata thani in august 2008 (which is during the rainy season). We were surprised that, having booked a deluxe room, this was separated from the main part of the hotel. Finally the room seemed to be OK. It is useful to rent a car (which is not expensive for european standards, adn useful to move around the island -and much better than motorbikes with rainy weather).
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Go to phi phi island to view beautiful landscapes and underwater sealife.

-Rooms are in old style ( 80"s...)
-a bit far from town by walk
-sea around there is risky (big waves)
Very nice place with very good location ( 100m from beach)and lights are very special at night. From our room view among the perfect cut of green grass there's a big pool with the sea beyond it. There are even a "Neon-BAR" near the beach... Restaurants there is also great for breakfast and/or dinner. But just two things : We dont like the rooms style, its pretty old style, maybe 80's, and the sea there is pretty risky to swim cause of waves and rocks...
But all in all : we like this place :)

Semi-private beach with beautiful sand, beautiful waves. Far, far from the maddening crowds. The pools were also gorgeous, and you did not have to get out early in the morning to "save your spot". I was also impressed with the staff and the women who provided other services at poolside (pedicures, etc.). Everyone was extremely professional.
If you want more shops, restaurants, etc, you will have to walk 10 minutes over the hill. We did not mind, but this might not be for everyone.
I would highly recommend this resort if you can get a reasonable rate (we got the off-season rate). The semi-private beach is probably the best feature, but pretty much everything about this hotel had class. Even though we had a discounted rate, we did not get a discounted treatment. I think it is the nicest resort in Phuket.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Do not take the trip to Phi Phi Island. This was a complete tourist trap. Unbelieveably crowded, and then they drop you off on a very small island for 90 minutes with nothing to do except rent a chair to get out of the shade. Instead, rent a scooter, and take the trip to the south of the island.

Nice big hotel with private beach. Lovely view from our suite. Good service. Nice pools and a variety of restaurants and bars. Kids play area was good
Food a little expensive in some restaurants. Had to go quite a long way to other end of beach to kids area - could do with something for little people at both ends. Quite a long walk to get into Kata beach or other restaurants, shops etc
We had a great stay here and enjoyed several of the restaurants. The beach is lovely and quite private. We had a great room overlooking the beach. Initially on the 2nd floor we moved to the 3rd as our room felt damp (possibly due to the 06 Tsunami).
Restaurant Tip : Fab restaurant above hotel on cliff at boutique hotel (sorry can't remember name) which can be acccessed either by road or walking along beach up path on cliff. Definitely worth a visit and a good close option
