Loved the hotel decor. The hotel staff was generally nice. Spa was great, however was very expensive. Italian restaurant was expensive but food was very nice. The hotel is very far from the nearest shopping place and hence taxis are very expensive.
Overall the stay was great will definitely visit again

We loved the hotel. The staff was very friendly and understanding. Hotel room was comfortable and very well maintained. It is little far from the airport so the cab ride to get around can be a bit expensive. Hotel Spa was great but was very expensive; however there are cheaper alternatives in close proximity of the hotel.

This is a good hotel for a relaxing break. It's a little out of town, with a small row of cafes/tailors/spas. Bargain hard for taxi transfers into town.
Room was large, clean and very comfortable. We very much enjoyed the excellent breakfasts. Pools are lovely, although the sea was rough when we visited in July - we'd expected this but it really was quite noisy at night.
Summary: lovely hotel, excellent breakfasts and very relaxing. If you are looking for nightlife, stay in town or be prepared for lots of haggling with taxi drivers!

Royal thai food resturant was great with the 250B coupon they gave. clean beach and great swimming pool. breakfast is really normal.

Its a huge hotel, But the cheap room is like half mile from the beach, unless you want to pay more for the beach front the ones. it's clean kata koi beach but not private beach , the beach has big wave you can't go swim. I prefer kata beach resort. th way better value for closer to the town and same beach.
Restaurant Tip:
You really have to go the royal thai restrant. the food is AMAZING!

relaxing on the beach

Just came back from a fantastic time at Katathani at Kata Noi. My brother and I stayed for five nights with an "ocean" view room ("free upgrade": code for the fact that the room we booked was unavailable due to the on-going and behind schedule construction). Overall we were very pleased with the resort (fantastic location, hospitality of the staff, ample buffets, relatively quiet foot traffic). The beaches in Thailand are free and public, but Kata Noi is a bit out of the way, so few non-resort guests were on the beach. The only complaint we had was that our room smelled of mildew and was a bit damp(something we were unable to communicate effectively to the staff who just put scented oils in the room to mask the smell). This is something that I would expect of an older hotel on the beach. I imagine the ongoing construction is going to update the accommodations for future guests. We arranged for a hotel pickup at the airport, which was a great way to arrive (air-conditioned, comfortable, free bottled water). We would definitely go back if we ever make it back to that part of the world...
Hotel Feature Tip:
Internet is much cheaper at the local cafes up the hill from the resort. (On-resort prices were more "Western" rather than the more affordable Thai prices...)

Fantastic Hotel
Location,directly on the the best and cleanest private beach in Phuket. Family and couple orientated. Dining in hotel as well as within 2 minutes walking distance from hotel. Superb service. This is our second stay, we are booking for another visit

WE have visited Phuket 7 times over tha past the past 3 years and have stayed at the a number of hotels on Karon, Kata and Katathani beaches. Hotels have all been 4* +. Katathani in our opinion is the best hotel. Service fantastic, location perfect, rooms nothing better from Karon to Katathani beach. Buffet certainly the most oppulant. If you want a hotel right on the beach with great pools and available pool chairs this is the hotel to stay. If you need some nightlife then stay in Patong. This hotel is perfect. Recommendation, stay in the Junior Suites which have the most amazing rooms and beautiful sea views. Massages, pedicures etc at the pool are great and priced very competitively.

Use the hotel transport from the airport, safe, modern car, efficient and only 700 Baht.

We stayed in Katathani hotel in July 2009. The hotel is quite big, with vary good interior. The personnel is amazing - we had to book an urgent flight and the hotel service helped us professionaly and promptly. The territory is very clean, safe for children, they have a very small swimming pool for kids, as well as two additional big swimming pools for other guests. There are 3 restaurants and 2 bars where you can dring very good cocktails. Unfortunately the fitness center is very small - it can hardly house 4 people at the same time. But overall impression is very positive. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Taxi near the hotel is very expensive. It will be much cheapre to walk a little bit and take a cab on the way to the center of Kata beach. Tuk-Tuk can also be cheap depending on negotiations with the tuk-tuk driver.

The Best!
The great view from every room, the beautiful pools and beach only a stones throw away.

This is a beautiful resort which is highly recomended. We were originally only staying there for 4 nights however decided to stay another 2 because it was just too good to leave! Amazing service and facilties. Especially a fantastic band which plays at the coconut band each night during happy hour. The pools are very large and picture perfect. We would definatley return!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Scubadiving is a must which can be organised through the resort.

I had a pleasant stay at the Katathani.
The reception was excellent. Reception staff gave a good run down activities and key areas within the hotel.
The Beach is clean and extremely close to the hotel - It is very much a private beach.
I will definitely return to this hotel for my next visit. I might also try their villas which is near completion and should open early next year.
Shopping Tip:
The tuk tuk or taxi rates ard the hotel area are usually inflated.
Try negotiating down by 50-100baht.

We have stayed at Kata Thani many times and always enjoy ourselves there. Buildings in the Thani Wing are parallel to, and close to, the sea so all rooms have good sea views. It is very quiet and relaxing in low season (June) when we usually stay.
