Great location and beach, Mediocre Hotel

Dont opt for hotel internet way overrated. A rip off that you have to pay for such a poor internet connection. Rooms were so so. There was this weird partition one side of the bed so you can only only get out on the other side. Food was substandard but cheap. Great beach.

the resort has a private beach which is beautiful

when we just checked in and wanted to take a shower, we found that both the shampoo and the shower gel are empty,which make me very disappointed. it's not like five stars hotel.

secluded location but very family friendly. great play area with good baby sitting services. breakfast/ meals were satisfactory. spa is overpriced but there are reasonable massage options within walking distance.

had a fab stay here. only down fall was that it was such a long way away from everywhere and the taxis cost an arm and a leg! great if you can ride mopeds. not so good for families with kids

this was really a very good hotel.the pros above cover the main points. but there were some cons too. the worst fault is noise in your room from outside. when i first arrived i asked for a quiet room. when i lay on the bed there was a continuous noticeable throbbing noise like a truck idling outside the room. some hidden machinery at that end of the hotel. anyway they moved me to a quieter room. even though the walls seemed to be concrete i could actually hear the person in the next room pooing in the morning and when they flushed their toilet it was like a waterfall next to my bed. i know this problem cannot be fixed without re-building the hotel,but if guest comfort was a priority that should have been addressed at the design stage of building.
Travel tip:
hire a car. katathani beach rseort is too far away from everything. if you don't have a car its a lot of walking or hiring tuk tuks which in phuket are run by the mafia and hideously expensive. my car only cost me 10000 bht for 9 days (thats less than aud$350.

I just spent a weekend at Katathani Phuket Beach Resort. The Resort in general is simple but very comfortable. Service staff is very kind, however not all the reception staff is capable. Amazing service at the restaurant. Remarkable also the bar/restaurant service staff by the pool and good the idea of massage/treatments by the pool provided by the resort. Spa is quite good but not exceptional.
The beach is clean and quite.
The location is unfortunately not very convenient if you like to have a nice dinner or a drink in a more lively area. Taxi/tuk tuk service is quite expensive and not negotiable (they are all from the same company).
If you look for a place to unwind though, then it's the right resort. I had a lovely, resting weekend.

the daily servicing of the rooms was fantastic, location excellent, staff very friendly

The band that played every cpl nights was amazing.. staff on food room service did not speak english very well so kept on messing up our orders. Pool bar closed very early (7pm) which was disappointing. rooms large enough for 2 ppl. Staff at front desk very helpful. Cocktail party with Manager was worth going to as he was extremely helpful with any issues.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Go into the main street of Karon to book Tuk Tuks and any day trips

Beautiful staff and lovely rooms

Our daughter just got married at Katathani and we now know why she picked it. It caters for everyone from families, couples, singles and young adults.My daughter booked rooms for all of her guests and no one had any complaints. The rooms are large, clean and have great views. The staff are beautiful and helpful. There are 5 pools which are all well kept and never too crowded.
The bars are everywhere you looked and the staff were great fun.It was great to relax by the pool
Restaurant Tip:
Make sure you try the seafood resturant in Katathani. Its a little bit more costly than the resturants on the street but worth every dollar. The view is amazing and the food melts in your mouth
