The Manathai is a beautifully decorated hotel, close to the divine Surin Beach, it has a lovely cocktail bar outside and the Chimes restauarant offers lovely Thai dishes, with a touch of luxury thrown in. The breakfast is fresh and delicious, sets you up for the day.
When asked to speak with a manager, there apparently wasn't one available.
The poolside was not cleared from the 24 hours, glass, ashtrays and dirty towls just left.
The laundry can be piled up outside of rooms and looks unsitely.
Overall I had a great stay at the Manathai and would return. We did have a problem on the first evening, we were given a room with a blocked toilet and the smell was very unpleasant. After I complained we were moved to a suite with a plunge pool which was just lovely. If you stay at this hotel just remember it is ran by Phuket locals so you may have a few communication breakdowns. occasionally things get lost in translation. I wouldn't let that stop you staying at the Manathai, I believe it is great value for money.
Hotel Feature Tip : The hotel bar and cocktail bar does have two happy hours, but they are not well advertised. Check with the staff at the beginning of your stay.

- new hotel, good design;
- good after check-out service (shower room free of charge);
- friendly staff
- no private beach, you have to cross the road and small green field to get to beach
Good but quite small bourique hotel. Quiet. Nice decor inside. Good staff and friendly personnel. However the hotelhas no its area or garden or whatever. Just next to a road but not noisy at all.

Staff at Manathai is very friendly; especially those working at beach club & beach restaurant.
Rooms in old buildings are not acceptable
Returned for 3rd time to Manathai Phuket and again enjoyed our stay very much. Hotel location and beach club are excellent. Restaurant at beach offers good Thai food at very low costs. We can recommend the use of the excellent spa & gym next door at hotel Twinpalms. Manathai requires some urgent maintenance work, especially the rooms in the old buildings. What does 'design' mean if broken parts are not being replaced by the owner? Overall we had the impression everything is a bit worn out and not looked after properly. On the positive side we can mention the extremely friendly staff.

Staff extremely friendly and helpful, room was clean, decor was the best out of 5 hotels we were at on this trip!
Food and drinks were more expensive than other areas of Thailand, but there were plenty of restaurants to choose from along the beach!
This was the final hotel we stayed at on our first Thailand trip, and we couldn't have finished off any better. The staff was friendly and very helpful, the location was great (just a 3 minute walk to the beach), and the beach was perfect! Surin beach is more of a relaxing area, so it really doesn't have much of a nightlife, but it was the perfect way to finish off our trip!
Restaurant Tip : The best value for food is at anyone of the beachside restaurants!

Great location - near to the beach in Surin. Decor in rooms was really nice. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Nice to have a turn-down service!
Breakfast wasn't great. We went there when it started (7am) one morning as we had a trip. The bacon, pancakes etc were out, but cold (the burners underneath weren't lit) - so it makes you wonder when it was cooked...
Getting around Phuket is very expensive in a taxi - the hotel arranged one's are about $2US more than the ones you can get just outside.
The location is really good - just next door to Twinpalms and Chava, but the prices are much more reasonable (in the run up to Christmas twinpalms and chava were really expensive). The interior is really stylishly decorated and there are water-features galore! Rooms are on the small side, but still well appointed. Slightly disappointed with the bathroom which could have been bigger. We only went to one pool which was ok, but with the beach so near we spent our time there. Overall it is good value for Phuket and really friendly. If you want a truely amazing hotel then spend more elsewhere.

- Attention to service
- Quality of the food
- Location 100m away from the beach
- Beautiful design
Went to Manathai based on friend's recommendation, and found it offers great value for money. Hotel is nice thai/modern design, room are big, an it is perfectly located 100m away from beautiful & quiet Surin beach, on which Manathai has a a beach club with with tasty food. Staff extremely kind and helpful. I will certainly return!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : You can also spend the day at the beach where the Chedi is located, as beaches are public in Thailand!

Lovely room, decent breakfast and a reasonable location.
Quiet locality with limited public transport links
If only every hotel was as good as the Manathia Phuket. Modern, beautifully decorated and laid out. Breakfast was good quality with plenty of choice. The hotel staff said the best rates were available on Agoda! Would have no hesitation in recommending this for honeymoon couples, families or couples. Try the Manathai, try Phuket. Have a wonderful break. Manathai Chiang Mai is well worth staying at too.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Book trips to Phi Phi island etc in Phuket town- more choice, more competition and a better price. Negotiate on the cost of your taxi back to the airport- we paid 500 bhat. Check out the twin palms hotel next door- wow. Catch the local bus to Phuket town- about 40 bhat. Try the twin brothers restaurant on the beach.

It's a cosy hotel with unique decoration. I recommend the couple lover or small family to enjoy the facility of the hotel. I like small swiming pool or enjoy your time at the private beach just cross the road and walk down to the beach about 3 mins.
Delux room is so small for the old building.
The overal of the hotel is good. I like the decoration and style. The hosts are friendly and polite. It's really good hotel to recommend for the coupler to enjoy your time with romantic atmosphere.
Restaurant Tip : There is one resturant at Surin Beach call Nok Seafood. Food is fresh and nice..

Well located in Surin beach, close to dining and beach.
Free Internet
Friendly staff
The staff were very willing to help but seem to lack direction.
Swimming pools are very small.
I have stayed at the Manathai many times and always enjoy my stay. The standard rooms are a little tired looking and small but perfectly serviceable.
On my last visit, I was upgraded to a better room and I have to say, its worth paying the extra as the room was far nicer, the bathroom was great and there was a lovely balcony overlooking the pool.
It is walking distance from the hotel to several different restaurants and bars, which is great.

nice decor, pool, bad water pressure in the shower
This is a good hotel, but it is not a resort. The beach is a short walk and they do provide towels and sun chairs once you are there. There are really no hotels/resorts on the beach in Surin but the restraunts and bars on the beach are great.
Restaurant Tip : Dinner on the beach at sunset is a must!

The architecture and Thai decor is exquisite. Staff are very nice. Good breakfast with excellent coffee.
Reasonable priced dining.
The hotel needs a little touch up and the beach hammocks and parasols need to be replaced.
We just visited Manathai during the low season and were upgraded to a suite. A very pleasant, and much appreciated, surprise to begin our long weekend stay at Surin beach. Breakfast was great the next morning, with real cappuccino brewed to order. Staff's hospitality was touching and the happy hour at the beach was very enjoyable. I like it much better that their more upscale neighbor Twin Palms. Manathai has more character and you get your saving worth...at least we did!

beautiful design (boutique), excellent service, quiet, nice beach
restaurant a bit pricey (but good food)
We enjoyed our stay at Manathai a lot. We arrived in the late morning after flying into Phuket from Bangkok. The "bell boy" took our luggage from the rental car to the beautiful lobby, the receptionist was friendly and efficient, we received an upgrade (not exctly sure why, but who cares ;-) and got our bags carried to a beautiful room by the pool, fully equipped with giant TV & DVD player (not really necessary for holiday at the beach, eh?), big bed, great interior design and a fantastic and spacious bath. Very stylish and yet an instant "home"-feeling. Fruit basket with rambutan and dragon fruit included. Dinner at the restaurant was also very much agreeable, if a little expensive and maybe a touch too western. Breakfast also thumbs up. Both the pool bar and indoor bar are fully equipped and offer a range of tasty own creations. All in all a much better than average location, especially regarding value foe money.
Hotel Feature Tip : Excellent boutique hotel

Location, great rooms and bathrooms, nice modern/ethnic architecture style and furnitures, lovely staff, nice swimming pool with lovely bar.
Not a beach front hotel, like any other on Surin Beach, but they have their own sun-beds on the beach about 50 mt. away. The reception area should be equipped with better fans, it was too hot.
We really enjoyed our 1 night stay (unfortunately only one), ther room was amazing, we have been upgraded to the suite for free. We didn`t try the restaurant, but it looks pretty nice and elegant. A great value for money, a very good boutique hotel/resort, not crowded as well they seems to have about 20-30 rooms only.
Nightlife Tip : Have your breakfast at the local restaurant on Surin Beach watching the sea, eat a banana pancake and get a local coffee (cafelom). At the evening go to Catch Beach Club on the beach for an aperitif or for an after dinner drink. This Club is managed by the Twin Palm Hotel, one of the best of the area. There is nothing much to do around Surin, it`s a Muslim area. If you want to visit the nearby Mosque or the local markets, I recommend to women to dress properly, cover your shoulder, your chest and your legs.
