Hotel is perfectly situated. Can hold many people at once and more than accomodating should you have any functions. This hotel is often upgrading which is a lovely touch. Last trip was upgraded to the penthouse suites. Very nice. super spacious. If anything too much room. Pools are good and very casual and only a 5 min walk from Surin beach

cluttered rooms, absurdly inadequate lighting in the room (we used flashlights), pool was cold, shaded and full of leaves, staff was unable to book a taxi to the airport, staff do not speak adequate English, ordering breakfast was a nightmare and then the food was wrong and not good.

Lovely hotel and service with a smile

Location: Manathai is just opposite Surin Beach and it's definitely a must-go because the sunset there is extremely breath-taking. Several seafood eating houses along the beach and you don't have to pay for the sun beds if you show that you're staying in Manathai. A few manicure/massage parlor that cost me at affordable price.
Hotel: Stayed in Studio Suite and it's very resort kind of room, pool view from the balcony with a bar just beside the pool. Staffs there treated us with great hospitality and definitely felt comfortable in communicating with them (they are just like our family!). Morning breakfast was just normal as it was low season. Greatly recommended to try their restaurant as it serves nice, delicious food! Heard from the staffs that other customers from elsewhere actually traveled down just to dine in at their restaurant. It has definite romantic ambiance that allows you and your partner to dine with great atmosphere.

The hotel location is a bit far from the town and centre area like patong. It costs 500 baht to patong and 600 baht to phuket town. Massage service is next to the hotel and can find decent restaurant nearby the hotel.
The pool of the suite is not clean and lack of privacy. The fuse always cut off when I turned on the hair dryer.

This is a nice hotel with a good location at Surin Beach. As long as the prices are under and you want luxury, then this would be the one to go. Of course there are nicer 5 star resorts next door but the price if much higher too.
The pool is quite nice at Manathai. The rooms are not luxury but very nice Thai style.
Free Internet is a plus.
The location tho is great. Just a short walk across the field to the beach.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Try the massage next door right next to the other hotel on your left hand side when walking out of Manathai.

Value for money. Close to the beach. Not a lot of shopping near by but they provide a free shuttle bus to Patong. Very limited choices of breakfast. Pool is not quite suitable for a small child. Staffs are very friendly.

We stayed in a pool suite, which obviously neccessitates it being on the ground floor, and restricts the view available. If I had to think of something negative to stay, that would be it. Honestly, we were so happy with the Manathai and it's facilities, it's hard to think of a downside.
The buffet breakfast is great, the 'egg chef' here makes a great ommelette, the beach club is a short walk from the hotel, and the taxis across the road are reasonably priced (all the taxis along this strip of hotels have posted prices, and all charge the same, so don't stress about walking down the road to try to get a better deal, just jump in and enjoy your day)
One note, when you're on your way to the hotel, if the driver doesn't know where the Manathai is, try telling him it's 'next door to the Twin Palms', it seems every driver knows where the Twin Palms is. And don't pay too much attention to Google maps, the current location is not correct. The Manathai is the property immediately south of the Twin Palms.
Restaurant Tip:
Walk to the Surin townsite behind the hotel and try some of the food at the 'shanty food halls', they may not look flash, but it's an experience not to be missed. For seafood lovers, try the catfish on a stick.
