Bang Thao / Laguna

Some of the hotels in the Laguna complex have sailing and rowing boats for use, and Banyan Tree has a championship golf course which can be used by guests at all of the hotels in the complex. Laguna has a large number of very good and reasonably expensive restaurants, as well as poolside food and bar service. Guests can charge any of the restaurants in the complex to their room irrespective of which hotel they are staying in, but bars and restaurants outside the complex must be paid for in cash. While there are a large number of bars in the area, the nightlife is far more subdued than Patong, which is just a 20-25 minute taxi ride away.

Getting around Laguna is easy and free. There are free shuttle buses between all the hotels and the shopping center as well as a ferry service around the lagoon to most of the hotels and the shopping center. Surin Beach is also within walking distance.

The bay’s clear waters make it a great location for snorkeling, and a smaller, almost completely enclosed bay in the north is home to some beautiful coral. The area has an abundance of day spa facilities, and private areas of the beach with lounges and towel service. Activities include an excellent climbing wall, guided elephant trekking through the nearby tropical forest, horseback riding, yoga lessons and a kids’ club.

The Laguna shopping mall consists of around thirty local shops offering souvenirs, local art and tailor-made clothing. Antiques can be found at Laguna's Canal Village, and Bang Tao’s open-air village markets are also worth visiting.
