Good Hotel away from the meyhem of Patong

Having been to Patong twice previously, we knew what to expect, however, this time we had young babies with us which probably meant Patong wasn;'t the best choice to make given it gets more and more hectic year by year. Alas, the Mercure was a welcome releif from the meyhem of patong and thankfully our room was quiet and away from the noise. The hotel is well appointed and maintained, but the only real criticism was a number of selfish guest slam thier doors (not the hotel's fault, but they could probably minimise the noise by retrofitting the doors) The noise of slamming doors evewry few minutes all hours of thew day isn't always ideal when you're trying to settle young babies to sleep.
Shopping Tip:
Jongceylon Shopping centre is about 10 minutes walk away and a great place to escape the hectic roadside Patong madness and find some alternate places to eat and shop without getting hassled.

this hotel was very lovely, it was in a very good location, breakfast is a must and the dinners they have setup by the pool at night is delicious and very cheap. this hotel has everything you need and more. only let down was wifi was very weak

Alway make sure you haggle with price, can usually get items for 1/2 to 1/3 of original price suggested. Also check money change rates carefully can vary quite a lot.

Nice pool, certain pool view rooms are nice but not all

cleaning of the hotel room was indescribable - balcony doors ere left open, floors were not swept or mopped, linen wasnt changed, towels were not left behind. constant calls were made to reception for things like towels, bathroom accessories etc. quite ridiculous for mercure

room cleaning was not up to mercures standard even after several complaints. Cleaners were forgetting to leave towels after cleaning the room. forgetting to lock our balcony door, not changing linen eventhough it was dirty.

Not available to do a late check out that was disappointing as we had to pack bags and find somewhere else to stay for 6 hours. Any good hotel will make allowance for late check outs. A bit far from main shopping centre and nightlife.

The hotel is very modern with spacious rooms. The location is perfect for those who want a quiet hotel away from the noise of central Bangala Road.
Although we did enjoy our stay, you could smell mould in the room. We did notify the staff of the issue however they didn’t do much to help with the situation.
The hotel pool was cold :(
