This is an awesome Hotel. Great location, Good Rooms, Good Views, 3 awesome Pools. and a private beach. anything that has to do with the staff. The Hotel staff, are under trained, unmotivated to assist, and are more interested in doing what they think the job is, completely not interested in what the customer wants. When I see something like this from almost the entire staff, of Thai people, who are usually extremely friendly and helpful, always wanting to help, then I can tell you that it is the fault of the management of this hotel. This staff, bleeds the attitude of it's management. The food served here is boarderline horrible. The menu isn't strong and the cooks simply aren't trained on international cooking. You couldn't find a better hotel to spend your vacation in, with a family. I love the location and amenities of this facility. However the staff here didn't act typical for Thai people. They simply aren't accomodating. They have their jobs to do and don't want to do anything else to assist the customers. For example, When we drove up to check in, we drove to the entrance area, where you unload your baggage, like anyone coming in a taxi would, and then check in. Since we were driving a motor bike, the security guard, wanted us to park our bike in the parking lot, about 300 meters from the enterance, not allowing us to drop off our luggage, which was almost nothing. Had we been in a car, it would not have been a problem.
We spent Christmas at the facility, paid amost $150.00 for 2 to have a buffet dinner and watch their Christmas show (nothing to watch). The food, was not good, and tasted of old food. I Asked for water, was charge an extra $2.00 for a small bottle of water. The next morning we went for the Breakfast buffet, Scrambled eggs, water-like, bacon, barely cooked, I think you get the point, it was horrible. Getting people to help, was difficult. We were at the pool around 11:00 am, asked an attendant for a couple of cokes, he said that they did not offer poolside service until 12:00. I guess that's their policy, but I'm thinking that we didn't get the service we paid for or having a hotel staff going the extra mile for a paying customer. Not even an extra step. sorry, but we spent good money to stay at a 4 star hotel, and were given 1 star service. Overall experience, NOT GOOD. Hotel and facilities, Great.
Restaurant Tip : Do not use the Merlin Beach hotel restaurants, the food is not good, go into town and use the restaurants at the Holiday Inn. They are awesome.

The Hotel is great, neat and tidy...The pool is massive and love the swim up bar.... the only annoying thing is how far our of the action it is..food is also expensive

Clean, away from suit and tuk tuk pushers, two great private beaches. Pool amazing, breakfast great and Thai food spicy! Shuttle should run more frequently - other than that pretty great We would highly recommend this hotel to travelers looking for a relaxing beach holiday. Away from the hustle and bushle of Patang with only a short shuttle into town. Beautiful rooms, spectaular dining options, great beaches with a monkey to play with. Three beautiful pools to play in with lots of activities for kids (often away from adult areas). Snorkeling off the beach incredible. Lots of beach chairs to guest ratios. Staff very nice. Rooms clean and big.
