The staff was not friendly and helpful at all. Poor room facilities, I would not give four stars to that hotel. An old building urgently needing renovation. We were cheated with the bill for the mini bar. The only positive thing is the location - just few meters to the beach.

As pros and cons, very happy with everything, except guest charge, which is a bit cheeky I thought, and not many cable channels, which is not a huge problem, coz not here to watch TV. Good pools, with one of them big enough to do some lengths. I would go back
Travel tip:
When bartering on the street, always offer them at least half the price they quote you, then walk away. If they don't come after you, just increase your offer a little at the next stall, they all sell the same stuff.

The hotel as such is okay but the age is obviously catching up. The mattresses on the pool chairs are old an run done, i.e. they do not serve the purpose of cushioning any longer. The prices in the hotel are acceptable. The price we had to pay for the mandatory New Years dinner was way too high. More than EUR 100 per person for a very average dinner buffet without any drinks is absolutely not okay. The area around the hotel is nice for those who look for night markets, discotheques, regular restaurants. If you look for spending a quieter holiday with more quality time, this is most likely not the right location.

This was our second visit to the hotel and we enjoyed it more this time. We were familiar with the hotel layout and enjoyed having the three lagoon pools to choose from with different features and layout. The location is great - far away from the hustle of Bangla Road but close enough to get involved when we were in the mood. Great restaurants were just up the street with heaps of good shopping too. The cleaning staff at the hotel could not do enough for us and the rooms were always spotless. It was a pleasure to come back to an immaculate room after breakfast each day. Would I go back - definately. You can count on us making it visit number three sometime in 2010 or 2011.
Restaurant Tip:
BBQ Hut Restaurant in the street behind the hotel, on the same side further down the street has great mexican food and mango Margareitas

My returned visit to Patong Merlin
The rooms were very neat always cleaned well, staff are very polite, friendly and obliging.
The grounds were kept very clean and presented beautifully.

This is my second stay at the Patong merlin. This is a great hotel for families with children with the added bonus of a kids club, or for couples. The hotel has four swimming pools to choose from and all amenities a tourist requires. Staff are very friendly. The rooms are spacious and very well presented. The breakfast buffet is always a big plus in my family. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Phuket.

FAntastic pool scenary.You feel in the middle of the jungle with all those exotic trees,flowers and hudge leaves.All casted in the blue light of the pool water!Room af the range I have selected are elegant and simply furnished in a japonese style.

It is a lovely adventure to spend a few nights at the Merlin Patong Hotel. When you wake up and open the curtains you just look for Eve.Yes ! You are in the Eden as Adam.When you lo an adventure indeed. Such a long pool made with many different small lakes.It is a real adventure to stay at Patong Merlin.And personnel is very good and trained.
Shopping Tip:
City side offer many markets where you find all you need. See side is at handjust opposite to reception entrance.Great.

Patong Merlin Hotel - Nota 5 Star

We chose this hotel based on agoda's five (5) star recommendation in Patong. However, this hotel is anything but five star: room furnishing indicates 3 Star hotel, Wireless does not work reliably (i.e. it only worked if you stand close to the door). Bathroom fixtures are pretty outdated. There was not enough water pressure so that we could not use the shower properly. The toilet seat cover was not properly attached etc.
I really don't know how can this hotel be rated as 5 Star ? We used Agoda on this trip for two other hotel bookings and the hotels were great, just to our expectations.
