Beautiful Hotel, great location
swimming pools are beautiful
7.3
We loved this hotel after a month long trip throu SE Asia. Very good place to relax and wind down. Unfortunately our son cut his belly on a sharp edge in the pool, requiring stiches. The hotel gave us a free dinner and some free internet to compensate.

Paton Merlin rating
great location, close to everything without the noise and good for the money. we we greeted with cold hand towels and a drink on arrival, people are friendly and loved hanging at the bar near front entrance and has live music some nights, great atmosphere and the buffet breafasts are great!! good selections to choose from.
7.7
we stayed for the first 3 days of our trip then headed to koh samui and came back toward the end of our trip on our way to return to home, the first room was good and we found no problems with the bed however when we returned the second trip the bed we had was so rock hard and very bad!!, when you stay at a hotel that's what you pay for is a good comfortable bed. So a bit disappointing also on our second trip back there returning for home we were also told we could have a late check out later than the 12 noon check out they normally have as our flight home was not till 8pm and we were very sick, they said it was no problem so i was the most well out of both of us and went down to check the next morning to make sure all was o.k only to be told at 11am with them informing me that we needed to be out now and someone else needed our room, as we were really sick i needed to pay another 500baht to be moved to another room so we could then have a late check out at 4pm (we dont mind paying extra for the room,it was that they knew this when we arrived and it could have been arranged differently as we were unwell upon arrival and infromed them this)so with my partner still in bed i had to race and get him out of bed pack the bags and room so we could move to the other room.it was abit of an inconvenience.
i do think as it was our first trip now knowing the area better you can get probably better for your money perhaps next door resort holiday inn. the good thing is this place is close to everything walking distance without the noise and has three pools and one for little babies/kids if you have any.. we dont but incase that's what you are after, the bar areas nice in the afternoons for atmosphere and has some nights live music. We felt very comforable being there for our fist time as we notice alot of other aussies stayed here also, So is wasn't as scary and daunting being there for the first time and not knowing the culure and how it all works etc. We may stay here again
Travel tip:
you have to check out bangla street especially on a saturday night, what an eye opener very entertaining the best spot to watch all go by is the bar straight across from the lady boy bar,(forgot name of bar) make sure you sit abit inside the bars if you dont want to be hassled by sellers on the street but you get the best views for free of what the street has to offer. It is off tap on saturday nights! love it and the drinks are quite cheap and the girls are great on service. Great entertainment!

Patong melin Hotel
Buffet breaky as it was the only meal we had most days, close to island tours, the pools were amazing, pick which one you want everyday, waterfalls and shower things in the pool, was cool
10
It was pretty awesome, close to shopping, but sometimes all the market stall people were too overwhelming every single day, our hotel was our sanctuary we spent more time at the pool than at the beach because some days we couldn't handle being outside for too long being hastled. The hotel says not to arrange tours at the tour places in the street and to arrange them through the hotel but thats only because they want to rip you off. You can get the same tour for half the price in the street, I think all hotels do that. we got a tuk tuk driver to take us on a day trip around the whole island for 600baht one of the best things we did
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
don't book tours through the hotel, they say the tour places in the streets are bad, theyre not, theyre the exact same tours for cheaper, we even went with a tuk tuk tour it was alright and cheaper

Patong Merlin Phuket review
7.7
We were part of a group of eight persons who had booked four rooms. We were disappointed with the rooms and found them very basic. The beds were very hard and the staff seemed to find it difficult to understand we needed soft pillow tops. The best they could do was place doonas under the sheets. There was no turn down service at night. We all loved the location of the resort with the shops at one entrance and the beach the other. Most of the staff were friendly but we did strike the occasional sharp person. Breakfast was always a very busy experience especially at the egg station. We often had to wait up to 10 minutes for our eggs. Overall the resort was very good value for money but I am not sure it has won me over to stay again. When booking we had asked for pool facing rooms. However when checking in we were told we would have to wait four days before we could move.
Hotel Feature Tip:
There are plenty of internet cafes near the resort. These are a lot cheaper and more readily available. The resort charged $4.50 (AUD) for 30 mins. The outside price was about $1 for every 30 mins.

Fun Times at the Merlin Hotel
Excellent Staff. Excellent food. 3 great pools. Rooms are clean and spacious. The hotels locatioj is excellent, everything you need is within walking distgance.
10
The hotel is siuated in the heart of the city, wverything is within walking distance. The hotel staff are fiendly and nothing is a problem for them, they are most willing to make sure your stay is the very best it can be. The food at the hotel is supurb, we have never had a bad meal there and we have eaten at all the restraunts on a number of occassions. I would rate this hotel more as a 41/2 star. We will most certainly return there.
Shopping Tip:
If you are looking for a excellent tailor go a see Jamie at Top Tony. The staff there are extremely friendly and very funny. They will help you in any way they can. Since returning to Australia I have even had clothing made and sent here. The quality if very good and well wearing

Patong Merlin
Its location, its size, the pools, gardens and entertainment
9
When we booked into the Patong Merlin we were disappointed to find that we did not have a pool view room so asked reception for a move. We were offered a room overlooking the pool with an apology that the wing did not have a lift, olthough older, the room was clean and confortable for three persons. Staff were all very friendly and most spoke English well, all restraunts were very good as was the entertainment provided most nights in the hotel or the outside dining area at the beachfront. I thoroughly recommend this hotel.
Shopping Tip:
Dont bother visiting Phuket Town for shopping.

3 star rooms, 2 star elevators, 4 swimming pools
Location and visually appealling from the outside. Also largely chose based on 5 star rating on Agoda site (which is inaccurate).
6
Also, no internet in the room.
On the positive side, the location is very good and visually appealling from the outside. Nice pools. Decent resturant and bar area.
Hotel Feature Tip:
While it's nice to be on the beach, actually the street just inside the town and parallel to the beach seems to be more central (and easy access to the beach). I would choose hotel on that street, rather than trying to get something that appears to be directly on the beach.

Family hotel set back from the beach
within walking distance of shops, pubs, nightlife.
6.7
The welcome greeting at the hotel was excellent, with a welcome drink and refreshing face flannel to cool you down.
Hotel foyer spacious, attractive and inviting.
The room was a bit tired but clean. Balcony overlooking the pool was a bonus. Wall between ensuite shower and bedroom is see-through so carefull what you want to reveal to the family!
