Phuket Merlin Hotel, Phuket

The lobby is well kept, with an ornate glass in the ceiling, while the rooms are spacious. Sadly that's all to said for it. The self service breakfast was offered only 2 of 9 days - the food was lukewarm, seemed like leftovers. The other days, you're expected to accept a tiny dish from the a'la carte menu. The service was good, but they made it clear that they wanted rid of people, starting to move tables and stand around, up to an hour before breakfast ended. The two bars are nice, but offer no place for a quiet drink: karaoke blasted out every night, usually by drunk businessmen, and could be heard on the 5th floor, gone midnight. I complained, but they refused to do anything.

I stayed in the Phuket Merlin thinking it would make getting to the Phi Phi Islands easier. The location is terrible for this ---far away from the town & even further from the ferry port. The hotel is dated, & worse, is shabby & not too clean . The staff are not helpful, & nobody speaks english.The buffet breafast is awful, & does not cater to Western/International tastes.The room was OK, but not more than that. There are far better hotel choices in Phuket Town.

for some days to go around the island the hotel is okay. if you had visited the other beaches by taxi or public bus, you can go with the shuttle bus (free of charge) to two merlin hotels in patong or nearby. if you will walk to the center of phuket town you can go by taxi (tuk tuk) they are really expensive or you walk 20 minutes.

We really like this place. And for the price you just can't beat it. The breakfast buffet was nice, as was the evening meal in the dining room and the room service. We were there for two weeks and had a great time taking the free shuttle across town to Patong Beach and the private beach of the Merline Resort. We would stay there again if we were ever in Phuket Town.

So far i have been to phuket twice, first visit i stay at d pavillion and than this time at phuket merlin. I feel this hotel is better and in further i will still stay at this hotel cos the rates is reasonable and the room is good.

I can recommend Ph Merlin for some days stay. We stayed there 2 nights in the start of our holiday and 1 at the end. It is maybe a little too expensive for the quality and thye charge too much for an extra bed for our son, but everything was OK. We never tried the restaurants for lunch or dinner, but the breakfast was good, with a good mixture of international and thai dishes, we only missed the bacon. The staff was friendly and helpful and we was very well welcomed when we returned for our second stay. The room was good, even with an extra bed we had quite good space. The pool was nice although a little cold (!) The pool area was best in the morning and mid day, at the afternoon everything was in shadow. I can recommend this hotel and I can think of staying there again if I want to stay close to Phuket Town. Helt OK men inte fantastiskt kan man säga. Lotta Göran och Jocke
