Nice new hotel
New and clean rooms, quiet, great restaurant, friendly staff with good English skills, free wifi (at least in the lobby)

We decided to stay here because we needed a relaxing place after hectic Bangkok and this place had the highest reviews on Agoda. We were not disappointed. Though it's a little pricey by Chiang Mai standards, the hotel is very nice and everything is new. It's very quiet and the staff is great. The restaurant was also surprisingly good and cheap by western standards. Free wifi and computer terminals in the lobby are a big plus, wifi in the rooms would be even better, though.
It's a little far from the downtown, but that can be a plus in the sense that it's quiet. We recommend getting a tuk tuk into town (pretty cheap) or renting a car or motorbike; some type of motored transport is really essential to getting the most out of Chiang Mai anyway given its size and all the cool sites deep in the mountains.

Modern resort on lovely quiet Mai Khao Beach

i spent one night at this hotel with my sister. we came to phuket with the ferry from koh phi phi and we were leaving for bangkok the next day. we were looking for one night on phuket but we wanted to avoid patong and the other very busy and touristy parts of phuket. we found this resort on agoda and we were very happy with our choice. we had a huge, quite luxurious room with to large twin beds (the was the deluxe room with pool view).
Hotel Feature Tip:
The Mai Khao Beach is quiet and is beautiful for strolling, enjoying the sunset, morning jogging etc.

Good option near the airport
close to the airport, nice pools

We were peased to find this hotel near the airport for a reasonable price during peak season. I thought that airport transfer would mean the hotel provided a free shuttle, but it did not.
Restaurant Tip:
There is a small place next door to the hotel out by the beach that has good food for less money. Good option.

Nice hotel but would not return

The hotel was pleasant enough. The staff was friendly. We only stayed for one night and had lunch at there. The food was not very good. The location is ok but a bit removed and you will want to go "off property".

great value on a beautiful beach, a little quiet
beautiful beach where all the other resorts are 5 star - marriott, rennaissance etc, v quiet

they were building a holiday inn next door due to open may 2011, so some building noise but not too bothersome. staff v nice, restaurant pretty limited but there are bungalows next door with a restaurant or you could try the marriott type places. there is also a small shopping mall and supermarket not too far away (10 min drive).

Nice little surprise

We were very pleasantly surprised by Piraya. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere, but it makes for a quiet beach... there were very few people. The food was good and reasonably priced. Very nice view from the restaurant. They have 3 pools and a gym. The staff at the front desk were less than helpful and not the most friendly, unfortunately.

Do you want to rest and get peace of mind? This is the place to be. We stayed in a 'Deluxe Pool view' room and it was quite amazing! The room was beautiful and we had our little private terrace with immediate access to the pool. The view from the room was very 'zen'! We are travelling with our 2,5 year old daughter and she she could sleep in an adorable wooden baby cot with animal prints. She loved it right away. During the day, while she was sleeping, we could still relax on our terrace at the pool and even swim without leaving her alone to far. And in the afternoon the hotel staff brought some fresh fruit. Absolutely lovely! The restaurant had good food, was not too expensive and had a fantastic view. Yes, we were happy and would definitely go back!
Restaurant Tip:
The little restaurant next door (on the right) has good food too and is even less expensive (= restaurant of a backpackers place).

The location is near the airport but far away from the down town , it need take about 1 hrs by taxi or car. also the taxi fee are very experience. The breakfest also very bad and the service also very bad. I will never stay this hotel again.

Great beach & beautiful pools! Service not great.

hotel was beautiful, clean, & well maintained. lots of little "extras": flowers in the room, towel elephant, fresh fruit in the fridge. pools - long, cool, & well tended. lots of loungers & umbrellas. many rooms had private lounge areas with pool access. pretty cool! fitness "ctr" had 4 machines. lol
best part: beach. soft, white powdery sand -- no rocks. water clear, cool, salty & refreshing with enough of a wave to splash about. lots of tree cover for shade (and great napping!) inexplicably very few people. had cranky staff move the heavy loungers closer to the ocean after asking nicely 3 times. recommend: get more lightweight loungers & locate at the beach. this is a huge advantage to capitalize on.
breakfast was only fair -- fresh made omelets good. service not good. requests for more coffee got a smile & no coffee. language issue maybe? i got the coffee & tea pots to serve our table & our "neighbors" myself. that got a lot of laughs. :-) lunch was much better, but avoid the house white wine.
great if you want a total relax time, else find something closer to the tourist areas.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Arrange for taxi pickup at airport ahead of time. We arrived at 11:30PM -- no hotel shuttle, no tourist help. 800Baht taxi rip off to hotel which was NOT that far...
