Great location but small rooms
Away from the busy tourist areas
4.3
We would not stay at this hotel again. Although you pay for what you get, the pictures on Agoda do not accurately reflect the true state of the hotel. Our room was small, not furnished like the pictures, not as clean as we would have liked, the door didn't shut, the young lad on the counter was not friendly or accomodating, the pool was more like a wadding pool - enough said.
Travel tip:
Stay at this hotel if you are going to spend minimal (and I mean minimal) time in the hotel, don't mind skipping breakfast and are contemplating upgrading from a hostel.

Clean hotel and friendly and flexible owner
Clean, nice balcony with washed clothes rack, little lovely swimming pool on top floor with nice view, hotel owner James listened to clients' needs and flexible,in a calm area with lots of service facilities.
9.3
The owner James was always available to answer our enquiries over the phone before and after arrival. The staff at reception gave us a room in the ground foor which we did not really liked. However James quickly switched us to another room that satisfied us.The room was extended one more night with the same room and same rate as on Agoda. On the cons side, the tv was small and the location is not too close to the beach but by motorbike only took us 3mins.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Kata beach has white silky sand, cleaner water than Patong, not too crowded.Lots of good priced and quality restaurants. It is perfect for couples.

New construction hotel on quiet side street.
Clean and comfortable, generally good locationn
7
This newly constructed hotel is clean and quiet and is only about a 10-15 minute walk to the beach at Kata (albeit past a rather malodorous canal). There are also several decent restaurants in the area.
I always try to look at Google Street View in advance of a stay at an unfamiliar location, but in this case Street View only shows the hotel under construction. Make sure you have the hotel's phone number with you because even Kata based taxi drivers may not know where the place is.
Were I to return to Rama Kata, I would ask for a room other than the ground floor room I had. It has no view, other than a close-at-hand masonry wall painted blue. Its akin to being in an inside cabin on a cruise, which is ok if one's intention is to spend all day away from the hotel. I personally prefer to look out a window at something, anything.......
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
I found Kata Noi Beach to be preferable to Kata Beach.

Comfortable centrally located hotel but very basic
Clean rooms, friendly staff, great location to the town centre/beach
6.3
We booked Rama Kata at the very last minute for a NYE getaway. The location for us was perfect to walk to the beach and check out the local shops and restaurants. The room was comfortable and had all the basics but don't expect 5 star - this was ideal for a quick holiday where you just need a comfy bed, good shower and air-con at the end of the day. The pool is a bit strange and small, probably wouldn't recommend using it especially as the beach is 15 mins away. The hotel staff are friendly and made us feel very welcome. Make sure you hire a scooter at one of the many shops in the nearby town centre - they are cheap and the best way to get around.

Moden hotel with good location

Short stay in Kata. Taxi driver was unsure where hotel was. Very nice clean modern hotels. Perfect location. Kata is more for family or mature couples. No problems & enjoyed my stay.

New & clean hotel. Location is very quiet.
Rooftop pool with mountain view, out of busy town which you can rest & relax
6.7
Overall we enjoyed our stay in Rama Kata Beach Hotel. The hotel has just renovated and very clean. However, there is no lift in this hotel and we need to carry our luggage bags all the way up to third floor by ourselves. The highlest floor is at fourth floor.
The hotel is out of the main road view nonetheless, public transportation (i.e. tuk tuk) is easily accessible (from the hotel entrance, turn to your right to the main road).
Kata town is not as busy as Patong town hence the area is very calm and relaxing.
Restaurant Tip:
7-11 convenience store is just a 5 mins walk from the hotel. Across the road, right opposite the 7-11 store is a local restaurant which sells beef noodles, local mee. Very delicious!
