Lovely, huge lobby but hotel in a secluded area

this was not my fave hotel in thailand. the area felt kinda sketch and we only chose it because we thoght it would be very close to the pier... but it ended up not to be and we were glad we booked the tour when we got off at the airport. they picked us up from the hotel which was great! we had to walk about 15 minutes before we found some food - it was limited in choices but we ended up having a great meal at a local bar. the room is big (a little dim in lighting though), breakfast wasn't bad, but overall if you're looking for just a place to stay the night, it should be okay. lobby is very nice and grand, and i think there was a party going on that night, so it was good to know that lots of people frequented the hotel!

I was recommended that this is the best hotel in Phuket town. The hotel is very smelly once I walked in and even on the hall way to my room. It is very old hotel and I dont like it at all. Breakfast was very boring .
Restaurant Tip:
There is a very good restaurant just opposite the hotel.

A reasonable priced hotel with satisfied service
Good place for people to explore the life in Phuket

The destination of the hotel is really nice. It located near the old town of Phuket which is worthy for tourist to go to. Besides, the price of the hotel is reasonable, comfortable and tidy. However, the only thing not good is the wifi cost me a lot because the wifi of the whole building is not free. As a whole, it is a nice hotel with no free wifi.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The price of one day tour provided by the hotel is quite nice. Tourist can book them a day before.

Overall we are quite happy with the room's size and service, location great(near to shopping centre and food stalls),will
stay there again if we will to visit Phuket's town again.

good stay. reccomended for travellers alike.
should try out the porridge stall at the opposite road of Royal Phuket City near to the 7-eleven shoppe,worth the try. try to come over during the month of october as phuket is famous for it's celebration of the Nine Emperor deity. The city would be abuzz with tourists all over the world flocking over to Phuket to witness a grand celebration! Don't miss it. It's during the month of October!

the hotel is located in phuket town , about 3 min walk to all the shops, not much selection for restaurants. i would recommend staying in patong if you want the nightlife, bars,more choice of restaurants and shops for souvenirs, clothes etc.
the hotel otherwise is great, good breakfast, although no smile from the guy who cooks your omelette. there are taxis available outside the hotel and can bargain.
make sure from the airport you specify that it is royal phuket city hotel as the airport bus driver guided us to another hotel -phuket town inn, so better to take a taxi or mini bus from airport.

enjoyed stay - large room with view. lobby bar band nightly - and reasonable priced restaurant ground level. walk to phuket town but quite a distance from intercity bus station.
Travel tip:
nogotiate taxi fare before trip also look at map of island - quite large
