Nice hotel in good location

enjoyed our stay here, very convenient for historic Phuket Town and right next to bus station. Lovely swimming pool area, and great breakfast served on 19th floor. Live music in the lounge in the evening added to the pleasant atmosphere of the hotel.

We stayed for 3 nights in the hotel as we wished to spend a leisurely holiday in Phuket. We took the time to walk through the old city. One thing we miss is authentic Thai food. The transportation system system is to say the least is chaotic. You can hardly find a taxi in the city. However, we managed to take a 10 baht ride from the city to Central Festival using no 1 Pink Bus (modified truck with double wooden roll seats).

Rated 4 stars but worst the 2 stars. Old & dirty.

Room.
Checked in and was upgraded to business deluxe room. So happy but short lived. When I saw the room I was terribly disappointed. Look like time stood still there. Room is very out dated and carpet very dirty. Bath room tiles has black mosses and bed sheets found long strands of black hairs on it. The room definitely looks 70's.
Elevator.
Old and smelly. Carpet looks worn and badly need replacement.
Breakfast.
Basic tasteless buffet with limited western food. 10 people line up for omelette as there was only one chef preparing.
Reception.
Only one girl speaks English.
Internet.
Very expensive. 200 baht for 2 hrs wireless use. Terribly slow connection.
Gym.
Treated like 2nd class as it is more catered for Gym members. Hotel guest not so welcome. You have to pay 200 baht extra to use sauna.
Shopping Tip:
Robinson Departmental is just behind hotel, 5 mins walk.

we stayed during a stopover also in the sino house hotel, which was good. royal phuket city hotel was however approx the same price and better value for the money. actually hotel cafe, breakfast pool and gym where excellent in comparison to room price.

Expemsive Hotel at poor location

This hotel is far away from airport. I landed Phuket after 10pm where there were only taxis left. I had to pay 800 B to get there. If you plan to arrive Phuket late at night, don't choose this hotel. This hotel is very close to the Phuket city where you can explore the local history.
The room of this hotel was clean but lack of slippers and teeth brushes.

Great hotel as base for day-tours from Phuket Town

We spend 3 weeks in Phuket and decided to spend some few days in Phuket Town to have easy access to boat-trips to e.g. Phi-Phi Island. We choose Royal Phuket City Hotel since non of the more well-known brands were available, but we were very pleased with our stay. However, do not expect much of the hotel itself but a clean room and a decent breakfast with a great view from floor 19. Their pool is very small and there is not much else to do in the hotel itself.
Travel tip:
Stroll around in Phuket town, take one-day trips to e.g. Phi-Phi Island or the wonderful Elephant park ....

in the heart of the city center. the bus stop is opposite. you can take a bu to & from the airport for 85/- bhat

the shopping is round the corner & behind the hotel.robinsons is within walking distance.good places to eat also available close by.
the hotel staff were very friendly & helpful.the rooms were good & value for money.only swimming pool is available.for the gymn you have to pay.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
You may book your tours to various attractions at the airport itself.

Comfortable and near to bus station

I will say this hotel satisfy our requirements after a 8 hours bus journey. We wanted a hotel with clean room and no hassle check-in to rest ourselves and this hotel does it pretty well. Many food options a short 5-10 mins walk away from hotel at Robinson department store area.
