Salathai Resort, Phuket

arrived at Phuket airport and had no problem being cut-out from the mob by the hotel's limo driver. From that point onwards, I was forbidden to touch my luggage, since i am a 15 stone weakling, every bit helps. After viewing the traffic for a while, I considered increasing my travel insurance accident limits. Upon arrival at the Salathai resort, I was received like a long lost son with smiles, greatings, small talk and a cool drink. I was way to early for access to my room, so after a short wait, i was moved to a suite instead of a room. The rooms are clean, well appointed, everything worked, including the safety features of the safe that locked me out with a sounding alarm after I failed to enter the code correctly three times! A bonus was the mini-bar that was re-filled with complementary drinks, like water, beer, coke, etc on a daily basis. Money, sunglasses, etc.. left in room was still there on return, honest staff! nothing went missing during the whole two weeks. All-in-all, a pleasant, well appointed and safe hotel. There were a few 'extra' guests leaving each day around lunchtime, but everything seemed to be handled in a subdued and polite manner by the staff. Great hotel for singles and families alike.

We enjoyed staying at the Salathai. Disappointed to find we didn't have adjacent rooms although we had asked a number of times (family with children spread across two rooms). A couple of other small problems (you get them everywhere) were sorted out quickly and with a smile. While it seems quite open to the street, we were surprised by how quiet breakfast was as well as the pool area during the day.

A very nice boutique hotel, close to beach, restaurants, bars, etc. The pool was very pleasant, expecially on the hot days and when the sea was under the red flag (strong currents). It is surprisingly quiet given that the street (a busy one) is only meters away. It was a very comfortable hotel with pleasant, friendly and helpful staff.
