Hotel to die for?

Our visit was spoilt by a faulty air con and hazardous electrical wiring in the bathroom . Our room was like an oven and we only slept there and left the next morning. The owner did try to have it fixed and offered us another room on the top floor but due to a bad knee an extra flight of stairs was not on. The main point I want to raise is the safety of the bathroom shower hot water heater. When we arrived the cover of the isolation switch, which was only 3 inches away from the shower rose, was off, and constantly fell off. This to me is dangerous beyond belief and the number of electrocutions by such bad wiring in Thailand every year would back me up. We ate twice in the restaurant and thought it okay but nothing special.

The hotel was ok. The location is a little hidden, but easily accessible on foot and at night quiet. Unfortunately, a new hotel built in front of it so the view was a bit limited. The noise did not bother us because we were not there during the day.

This was a great little guesthouse.
First, they had a taxi meet us at the airport with advanced notice of the flat rate to the hotel (a very good thing in Thailand). I also understand that this service was complimentary with a weeks stay.
Once we arrived, the owner, Terje was there to greet us, feed us, and show us around the place. He was also very helpful in pointing out local attractions, the best of course being the beach a few minutes walk away.
The room was very clean and spacious with everything in working order. If you're the cautious type, there is also a room safe for your passports, cash, etc.
This place seemed to me to be perfect for most anyone. For a couple (like us) it was quiet, but plenty of restaurants, bars, and markets very close by when you feel like doing something.
The restaurant downstairs had some delicious Thai food, as well as western offerings if you get a little homesick.
I would definitely stay here again, and have already recommended it to a couple of friends.
Travel tip:
Do: Eat street food. It's every bit as good as restaurant food, and usually cheaper. Find the grilled snapper on the main road into town.
Don't: Go to Patong. It's everything that I don't like about Phuket.

i enjoyed my stay at the guesthouse. it's in a great location next to a number of bars/restaurants and shopping, but also very close to the beach. the host is a nice guy too.
Nightlife Tip:
The Rick n Roll bar around the corner is a nice place to meet people over a few drinks.

Host Terje offered to pick me up from my previous accommodation as he was somewhat nearby. What a lovely first impression. As a single woman traveler I found the place to be ideal. Good location for bars, restaurants and the beach. I could choose to join others in the bar downstairs, or not. It was a quiet location and I enjoyed the spaciousness of Room 6. Rooms on the other side of the hotel are subject to construction next door which looks as if it will take some time to complete. King sized bed was typically Thai firm.

Terje was amazing! He was very helpful from the first time I contacted him, helping to arrange airport transfers and boat transfers to the island. The location is great, on a quiter street close to restaurants and bars, about 5 mins walk to the beach. I will definitely stay there again if I'm in Kata.

the southern fried rice guesthouse was an amazing place to stay at , they gave me a better room on my second day , the owner terry is very friendly but also very helpful, any day trips go through him , you wont get it any cheaper trust me .
the guesthouse is in the heart of kata beach close to all the food you want , look out for the ladies who sell the ribs and its only a short walk to the bars.
the room i had was very comfortable , they have a pool table which is free and also free wifi,this is a place i will come back to
