very friendly staff. felt their welcome and warmth when we reached resort. Nice environment. Convenient as near to many amenities like massage centre, shopping area and restaurants.

swimming pool is slightly small

When we reached the resort, the hotel staff greeted us warmly and they were very friendly and helpful. We were led to our room and the environment was very relax. Location was right in the heart of many interesting things to do like massage centre, pubs and restaurants. It was also pretty near to the beach. The swimming pool may be a bit small for serious swimming but enough for a dip in the water and to relax. The steam and sauna room were just beside the pool, so you can have a dip and head over to the steam room to relax further. Overall experience, great.

Free coffee and water in the room as well as hair dryer. They even supply a towel for the beach or pool. Very close to beach

None

There are restaurants, massage parlors, banks, Seven Eleven convenient store right in front of the resort. Lunch in Mali restaurant is expensive and really not good. The restaurant opposite to Mali, in front of the resort is cheaper and better. Free Renting of DVD is a wonderful gesture. You could rent movies only during day 14.00-19.00

Restaurant Tip : Natalies resto a couple of streets up. Very friendly staff and good food.

Good room in the hotel.

The boy stand by the front desk who help us to lift the bags was very rude!!!

We did not have breakfast here. But it is the best hotel of five we live in Phuket this holiday. Althoug it was raining for days, we borrowed DVD to spend our time. For the cheap price, many details of this hotel make us satisfy!

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Very near to the beach.

pool access rooms are excellent! very pretty and comfy boutique hotel in Kata beach. 5 min walking distance to the pretty Kata beach.

breakfast is poor, not many choice. A little noisy when they have drunken customers at poolside during late hours till morning.

I had a awesome trip with my friends in a group of 6 of us. I had 3 pool access rooms, swimming pool is just in between our rooms. A very plus point is they have FREE internet access for customers in this hotel at the internet area. Also my friend & I went for their spa, it was AWESOME~! one of the best ever spa! great service, and friendly hotel staffs.

Hotel Feature Tip : they have FREE internet service.

The swimming pool is really good. The position is very close to the beach! Everything is really good!

The resort is perfect for me.

This is my first time to live in kata. There is no many peoples in kata. Sugar palm resort lives in the beach of kata, 2 minites walking to the beach. The price is really competitive and good service. If i go to kata again, i would like to live in the sugar palm resort again.thank you veyr much.

Best location in kata beach.

Car park and old room.

The location of this hotel is very good. You can walk just a few minute to the beach so if you don't have car or motocycle you should consider this hotel but on the other hand if you have a car, if will be one of the worst experience in high season because with limited car park, hotel service will take your car to car park so you have to wait or walk a bit far to get your car. Be careful when you buy your room. Superior Room is in the old wing of hotel so the room is old and have to walk without elevator. Finally, make sure you buy room with breakfast if you need it because when you buy it later it is far more expensive.

Absolutely perfect hotel for our needs! Guest Rating: 8.3

Had everything we needed in a great location near to shops and resturants and beautiful Kata beach. Will definatly return when I go back to Phuket

Swimming pool only had minimal sunbathing space which I expect would be crowded in peak season

We stayed in dulux pool view room. Rooms were spacious and clean with modern (but not particularly Thai) decor. Bathroom also spacious with bath, shower and sink. Balcony gave nice view of the pool and great for drying clothes or smokers! Location perfect; 7/11 round the corner, Natalies resturant next door with cheap food, drink and friendly staff, 3 min walk to Kata beach. Hotel staff really helpful and friendly. Free internet was great. Didn't eat in hotel as loads of other, cheaper places close by.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Natalies resturant (next door)has good food and friendly staff. Massages are fixed prices in the area but barter for everything else as even fixed price tours get a discount if you ask. Pums cooking class really enjoyable (Patong). Fantasea very commercial but like a Thai west end show-thoroughly enjoyed the evening. I think Kata beach is the best out of Patong, Karon and Kata.

nice design, good staff, free parking, close to beach

not right on beach

This hotel was really nice - they upgraded me to the pool view balcony room at no extra charge. My wife loved the soaking tub. I loved that its just a few minutes walk from the beach. There are loads of restauraunts nearby. I would reccomend hiring a scooter so you can explore the rest of the island - its especially nice further south. THis is a great hotel for the price and was nicer than I expected

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : hiring a scooter is a great way to get around

Pivate swimming pool and view with room design. In addition, it is step hotel.

Difficult to walk up and down expecially on the raining day since cart can not take the customer down to the lobby only walk by yourself. Should have elevator for customer who live top level.

Nice hotel with good location and design but the hotel has many step to go up to the room. Having cart send you their but there is no one get you come down especially on the raining day and it is too difficult for customer to walk down. I suggest to have elevator. Room is very nice with having pivate swimming pool (even share with other 2 rooms) Nice employee but the parking area in front of the hotel is too small.

Nice design, close to the beach

not right on the beach

This hotel is really nice - it is about 5 minutes walk to the beach, has free parking, and the rooms are well designed in a modern style (love the soaking tubs). The area its in has loads of restaurants, shops, massage places etc. The beach is a pretty standard resort style beach its really long and has lines of chairs and vendors which are not too much of a pain. The surf can be fun to swim in (or an annoyance if your not a good swimmer)

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : if you have a car or scooter check out the southern end of the island - its a lot quieter and there are some good views and beaches

Location

Parking, Cleanliness of corridors

Location wise...ideal. Kata beach is great with lots of lovely bars and eating places. The hotel staff were OK, but maybe the quiet time of year reflected in the staff being a bit apathetic and not so frienly as usual...not all just some. The bedroom was clean and kept clean, however Imanaged to cut my leg (twice) on the bed which had some sharp metal sticking out at an awkward shin height. The complaint however was dealt with quickly and efficiently...but no apology. The free internet in the lobby was good, but always busy and not enough terminals. Parking was difficult, you have to relinquish your keys and are always prone to get blocked in.

Hotel Feature Tip : Don't have a car

The breakfast was pretty good Close to the beach Pretty friendly staff

You have to make sure if you book excursions that you get picked up there as their are 3 Sugar Palm Hotels. There were 2 separate occasions our taxi went to the wrong hotel.

The staff were very friendly, and if there was a problem the staff would sort it out for you, free of charge, eg the taxis would go to the sugar palm hilside to pick you up instead of sugar palm Kata. The rooms were average, but good for the price with a lovely breakfast included. The onlt problem with breakfast is if you are allergic to bees they seem to know what time the food comes out, so it can be a bit of a problem. This being said the staff are very attentive and do their best to keep the bees at bay. Beds were a bit hard for us, but all the beds seem to be that way over there. We were upgraded to a superior room, so that was nice.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Don't pay for transport here, go to the other vendors, save yourself some money

Location, Pool, Free Internet and Wifi, Cleanliness

The construction work being done to the foyer right outside our room!

After a pretty hellish taxi journey from the airport we arrived at Sugar Palm Resort. We were shown to the reception and a member of staff took our bags so that we could check in. We were given a cold flannel and a fruit drink while we were sorting out our booking(it was hot!). We were then shown to our room which had very kindly been upgraded. Our room was very spacious with a decent sized bathroom and a large flat screen TV on the wall. I instantly liked it! We had an outside patio area which was surrounded by water this was great to sit out on as it was very relaxing and quite secluded. The only down side at the time we were staying was that some construction work was being done to the entrance which happened to be right outside our room so at about 9 in the morning there would be the constant sound of drilling concrete. The swimming pool was lovely and quite big and the little orchid decorations on the trees were a nice touch. There were about 5 PC's with free internet and a selection of DVD's and magazines to choose from for a rainy day. You can ask at reception for the Wifi password but the signal isn't very strong, you may find yourself walking about your room with your arm outstretched for a while! We were never up early enough to take advantage of the breakfast so can't comment on that but around the resort are a large selection of bars and restaurants ranging from Thai and Japanese to Steakhouses and Italian cuisine. The seafood is a must as it's all so fresh and laid out for you to pick and choose what you want. We booked a couple of trips through Sugar Palm as there was a 'Trips and Excursions' section next to reception which was handy and quite cheap. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay at Sugar Palm, being close to the beach, restaurants and bars was a great advantage but it wasn't so close for it to be noisy either. A great stay!

Restaurant Tip : Go to the 'Jazztaurant' it's a beautiful restaurant you get to by walking up some very steep steps but it's well worth it. Best visited at night, you look out over the town as a man plays jazz music on the piano. The food was very good and well presented. A definate must!
