Great family resort
Family friendly, nice swimming pools for children, close proximity to beach

Overall, we had a nice and comfortable stay in Sunwing Resort and Spa. Our ten year old daughter loved playing in the pools and on the beach. Staff were very polite and welcoming. There was a family atmosphere which made our stay even more relaxing due to the fact that we had a young child with us. The only minor inconvenience we encountered was the lack ironing facilities in the room.

Great Place for Children
The hotel has great swimming pools for young children, is located right on the beach and the restaurants are very reasonable

We enjoyed our stay because the hotel is very child-friendly. The rooms are self-contained and are very comfortable. The open-air restaurant adjacent to the beach was very pleasant and service was good. The cleaning of the rooms was a bit disorganised, but in the end it all came together. The beach was very clean and the children enjoyed playing in the surf. A great place for families with children.

over all was good, great location (right on the beach) and resort had 4 different clean & big pools. But our room was very disappointed because the bathroom smells and got lots of mosquitos. The resort did not confirm with our airport pick up that nobody came to pick us up and we have to spend over $35 to get to the resort.

I was disappointed with the resort, the front desk staff are good however the staff in the restaraunts and bell boys lack customer service. When checking out I had to eventually bring my own bags to the foyer as the bell boys took soo long. You have to pay for wifi in your room, its free in the foyer, why not free wifi throughout the resort. I felt like I was being pushed through the breakfast buffet, it was so busy you needed to be quick to get anything and it was exactly the same food each day, big on quantity but not quality. The resort is not ideally located for shopping and taxis outside typically charged a premium to take you anywhere. We had a car however could not park it at the resort as resort car park was always full.

It was my first time in Phuket. I am glad that I chose this hotel. It is located right on nice long beach with clear water and no crowds. They have shows for children.

direct access to the beach. bangtao beach is my favorite in phuket
plenty of activities available for adults and kids
breakfast 100% same every morning
no room service, impossible to get food after 10 pm from the restaurant. at 12 pm the mini market closes down so after midnight it's impossible to get any food from the whole compound
THB 2,100 for 7 days of internet service is quite expensive. in my opinion should be free of charge

Even though our daughter is 2 she still enjoyed the activities they had to offer. The staff were great with her and she loved the pools, especially the one with the small slide. There was enough to keep even the energetic going. Lovely staff, good food and the studio (which was big) was great. Very happy with our stay, could have stayed longer
Shopping Tip:
Cartons of milk are quite expensive in the mini market so i'd recommend buying them from Tesco (up the road).

Hotel is fine but the Spa is overpriced

Sunwing is a family-friendly resort chain. There’s a clinic, kids club, and kids below 12 eat free with paying adults. The rooms come with 2 sofa beds, with enough towels and beddings for 4. The pantry is equipped with cutleries and a microwave. However, there isn’t a bathtub or a hand held shower. Not so easy to shower young kids properly. A baby tub is provided only in the Happy Baby Studio. The TV is CRT, so you can’t plug in your media player.
Sunwing Bangtao is located almost in the middle of the 6km stretch of beach. Mostly calm, shallow sea. Just a few jelly fish to watch out for. The hotel has direct beach access, which is great. The wading and kids pools are by the beach too. There are a few easily accessible beachside eateries but beware of high tides in the evening. If you venture farther, chances are you’ll be wading in sea water trying to get back to Sunwing. Just opposite the hotel entrance, there’s quite a nice restaurant. The prices are the same as those casual beach side ones.
As we visited during the low season, the breakfast spread wasn’t great – we had better at a cheaper hotel – but hey, it filled us up good. Food quality was fine. No complaints re service staff. Those from The Philippines speak English and the Europeans are multi lingual. The Spa is a let down. Old, and uninteresting. Overpriced. Better, cheaper available out of hotel.
Like most international branded hotels, in-room internet access is expensive. They do have free access at the lobby though.
On the whole, we prefer the newer Sunwing at Kamala beach. Sunwing Kamala has bigger pools, better movie area and is better located to amenities. The only downside is the rooms are located far from the beach, unless you get the beach front rooms. OH and no free internet access.
Hotel Feature Tip:
If you prefer to have more variety, choices, shops and free internet access, stay at hotels nearer the Best Western side. The shops are there.
