Good service, excellent pools

had a great stay, the service is very good, internet works well as long as you buy a voucher. the best thing about this hotel is definitely the swimming pools, they have 3 huge ones, very clean and looked after very well. breakfast is ok, the new renewed rooms are super good, the old ones aren't that nice. i had a friend staying in one of them and it was dark and damp. mine on the other hand was excellent, bright and fresh. staff is always smiley and helpful. the gym is disappointing.
Restaurant Tip:
try to avoid western food in phuket, they claim to have imported ingredients (new zealand chicken, aus beef to name a couple...) which are most likely not stored well and not very fresh. after having a chicken cheeseburger snack in the hotel both my friend and i ended up with food poisoning. always go for thai food and you should be ok.

Good location -- our room in need of repair

We had requested rooms together with our family. Not only were the rooms on different floors but also in different buildings. Our room had rot in the ceiling, mold in the shower and a cupboard door that fell down every time we opened it. We needed to go through a poorly lit back breezeway to get to our room which made us & our kids feel unsafe. This was once a beautiful hotel that has not been maintained.

Booked 2 rooms as we travelled with another couple and prior to arrival I requested for rooms that were on the same floor. Was allocated rooms next to each other - great!
They have 2 massive pools which were good and very well maintained. Landscaping around pools were also very aesthetically pleasing. Spend a lot of time lounging by the pool and relaxing with a book or a cocktail.
Room was serviced everyday.
Breakfast buffet was alright.. Would have loved to see more variety but I still enjoyed my freshly cooked eggs every morning while I was there.
Room was definitely value for money. Bed was big, comfortable although I did have to ask for an extra pillow as the pillows were too soft and I had a stiff neck on the third night. My request funnily enough was declined as I got told there already was a second pillow in the wardrobe which I knew on arrival.
Shower in the bathroom was excellent - height of shower head is adjustable and pressure was great! Although water supply had stopped altogether on our last day there which the staff promptly fixed, so no dramas there.
Plenty of storage inside the room which was very handy as we were there for 10 days.
All in all I loved our stay there.

This is the the third time we have stayed at the Tara and were very pleased when we told we were being given a free upgrade to a premier room overlooking the pool. This was large and beautifully decorated in Thai style, with balcony overlooking the larger of the two pools. The room was spotlessly clean and the linens and towels were of excellent quality and spotlessly white.
Overall, a wonderful stay in a super hotel.
Restaurant Tip:
The '99' sea food restaurant complex opposite the Paradise Hotel, serves a wide variety of delicious sea food as well as traditional Thai dishes. The curried crab (choose your own) is delicious with steamed rice (khao suey)and mushrooms in oyster sauce.

had a wonderful stay. room was large with all amenities, plus a balcony. although breakfast was included, was great to have a kettle with tea and coffee provided. breakfast was plentiful with a buffet choice of an array of western and asian dishes. staff were gorgeous - always smiling and wanting to please you. the pools, and gardens, were stunning.

the hotel locate in a very good spot and have nice facility but - the rooms quite old and not maintaine wall , the service slow (we waite a lot of time till someone open the safe for us or improve the air condition). the swiming pool nice but look dirty , if you have problems the local staff doesnt know what to do , minimal breakfast

This place has nice rooms, swimming pool was good and back entrance was just across the road from the beach.
The only downside was they charge for wifi and don't speak very good english, when I asked for a bottle of water in the morning before my tour they didn't understand and gave me a glass of water instead. The staff are very friendly though and try to be helpful.
Breakfast was very good with a large range of choices inc cereal, pancakes, french toast, fruit and other stuff.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Island tours are a must see as well as snorkelling (around phi phi island).

we stayed from the 19th-22nd of july.
luckily we got a superior room in the garden wing which was at the corner of the garden wing hence we ended up getting a wonderful pool view. pool looked beautiful but it was too hot to enjoy it in the day( unless you go in the morning). location-wise, it was great as it was a short walk to most shops and eateries. around a 10 mins walk to jungceylon and 3-4 mins walk to the beach. beach-wise we found kata beach more peaceful and enjoyable as we could do whatever we wanted as we definitely had much more privacy there. patong beach had way more people. kata beach's sand was also much cleaner in our opinion.
superior rooms were too small, no bathtub, toilet looked really old. balcony had paint peeling off. quite a few dark patches on the toilet walls and balcony. tv didnt have as many channels( less than 20 i think), kata palm resort and spa( the one which we stayed in) had about 90 channels. also, internet is really expensive- 100 baht for 30 mins i think. but first 15 mins free.
service was average. nothing great.
restaurants charge high prices compared to eateries outside.
overall,a nice hotel with good breakfast( pancakes were lovely)
with a great location but wish the rooms were bigger and more well-maintained.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Dont book your day trips from the travel agency in tne hotel as their prices are much higher even after bargaining. Patong street travel agencies give better prices. Prepare to pay at least 200 baht extra per person if not.
