Fourth visit and still great as ever

This was our fourth visit to Thara Patong. Every time we have been very happy with out stay, and this time was no different. Before we started our holiday, we had read some reviews that the hotel was run down and the bathrooms were mouldy, which was very different from our previous three experiences. We were a bit apprehensive, but once we arrived, our fears were proven wrong. Our room was as good as ever (we have stayed in the same room every year), and it was spotless. I also noticed that one whole wing was being renovated - I will wait and see how that turns out if when I go back next year. My friend, the duty manager, has left Thara Patong. I was so looking forward meeting him again, but the staff has no clue where he has - he was sorely missed and I wish him well in his new career.
Back to the hotel - great drink prices during happy hour, delicious seafood and pizzas on the terrace and free live entertainment every night. The buffet breakfast is awesome as ever. One thing that could improve, is the extremely fatty bacon - come on guys, you can fix this - other than that, no complaints - see you all at Tahara Patong next year!

We booked for 4 rooms. one of the room was like a pantry with kitchen hob and hood, kitchen cabinet!! When we check in that room has no bed but with dining table and chairs. When they set up the room, it was not a proper bed! it was just an extra bed type. and we were charged for the Superior room type.
My friend was furious and when we request for change of room, they told us that it was 100% fully booked. What rubbish excuses.

Nice hotel in great location

We enjoyed our stay, rooms were large and clean, staff at reception courteous and helpful. Location was great, close to shops, beach, but quiet inside hotel.
Shopping Tip:
Don't accept first offer on anything, the shop owners expect you to bargain the price.

Very nice hotel, excellent location, but !
Right on the beach road. Good food, Good room size, Lovely pools (2) 3 minutes to nightlife, but quite at night

traveling with my wife and 16yr old son.
on arrival the room was not ready. they said 10 minutes. after 15 they said half an hour-1 hour. after causing a minor erruption we had a room in 5 minutes.
a great pity, as this is a lovely hotel and we sincerely enjoyed our stay. however when the check in and check out are a complete wash out (our booked taxi to the airport did not arrive)it seriously dampens the holiday spirit.
the hotel itself is very good. the rooms are a good size, even with the extra bed we were not cramped. plently of tea and coffee. good power in the shower. decent buffet breakfast. lovely pools (2). nice balcony. lifts. 3 minutes walk to the nightlife, but far enough away you can't hear it.
would i stay again? the answer is yes. but, i will send my wife a dayearly to ensure when i arrive the room is ready and book an outside taxi from the street which are plentiful and cheaper.

Walking distance to shops especially Jungceylon and nightlife. The cleaning off the room each day was excellent. Staff very friendly nothing was a problem. The only thing i found was I had my laundry washed and dried , first time they came back clean but the second time clothes were not washed properly example under garments and marks still on clothes and very grey. Room hand quite a few mosquitos, otherwise stay was great.

Mid range hotel with good location

The resident manager was very friendly and helped us all the way to our room. It is not usual for a mid range hotel but very useful especially the hotel room is not easy to locate in the compound and quit a distance away. The hotel also has no lift so guest needs to walk up the stair with their lugguage up to 3 floors. The staff are friendly and responsive.
