Location. Style.character Excellent bedroom, roomy, comfortable, quiet. Friendly reception people. Excellent breakfast.

Toilet seat was needing replaced.

I arrived quite late from Malaysia having taken a taxi from the airport. The reception people made me feel welcome. I had read some bad reviews about this hotel but found the to be groundless as I have found in reviews of some other hotels in different countries. Some people expect too much. I would not hesitate to use this hotel again. Its central and very comfortable. I was also very happy with the rate I paid. I am from the UK and know my way around hotels. This one is good.

Nightlife Tip : Do your own thing. Stay clear of the drivers hanging around close to the hotel. They only take you to "very" expensive places where they get commission for taking you in the first place. Take some time on your own during the day to find your way about.

Helpful staff

Dilapidated facilities, bad smelling lobby, location lacking

I booked this hotel as I needed a place to crash making my way from Vietnam to Ko Phi Phi in Thailand. All I wanted was a clean, quite and comfortable room. The hotel failed me on all accounts. The building both inside and outside has fallen into disrepair and the lobby smelled. The room they put me in faced an all night go-go bar (but the staff did move me o a quite room after I asked). There is nothing around the hotel of interest at all. In all, it was only a stop over so minimal downside to my overall holiday.

Close to ferries

Couple of booming nightclubs nearby - bit noisy Hotel a bit dated

The Metropole served it's purpose in that it was a stopover point that gave ease of access for an early morning departure on Phi Phi and Krabi ferries. The hotel doesn't pretend to be anything else other than providing servicable rooms in the centre of Phuket Town - if you are expecting 5 star resort style services and facilities then you need to look elsewhere. If you are looking for a convenient place to bed down for the night befor jumping on the ferry the next day then the Metropole serves this purpose well

Travel tip : Great little shopping/eating strip just round the corner

Location and friendly staff

Old and may need refurbishment. Noisy at night . Need soundproofing

The hotel stands out in terms of location in town and easily recognisable. However, it needs refurbishment and the ID needs to be improved. Overall it is comfortable and rates are reasonable. There were noises coming from a noisy singing joint which disturbed the silence in the night. Can be solved by soundproofing.

Restaurant Tip : The Hokkien mee sold across the street is a "must try" for food enthusiast.

- Central location - Some nice antiques placed in hotel, must have been a flash hotel at some point in time.

- Rooms are very old - Lobby has an unpleasant smell - Staff not fluent in English

Generally fine for a night's transit but hotel is undistinguished.

Friendly service, well kept rooms

None

If you are looking for a place away from the beaches and centrally locate in Phuket town, then this is a good choice of hotel. It is close to the bus station and various places of interest in town. The hotel was a good value and I have no complaints about the service. It is not set up as a vacation resort but is a good place to stay if in town for business.

cheap and convenient

bit old

I stayed here for 4 times already and still liked this hotel. To me convenience is utmost important, convenient to the market, shopping and restaurants. Opposite the hotel is my favorite MI TON PHO and the hokkien noodles and porridge. It is so easy to move from place to place from here.Other hotels are nearby and cheaper restaurants compared to Patong.I dont mind being far from Patong as I don,t like the beach but love to enjoy the tranquility of Phuket town and its old charms. The service here is good, breakfast has got a good array of local and western food.people are friendly, mostly Thai visitors and I feel so at home.Facilities wise not much but who needs the gym when you can tour Phuket till you drop. Then again to Patong and other beaches is not far either and you pay a lot less staying in town and mingling with the locals.Ill be back again

Shopping Tip : go to Robinsons and Central Festival

Friendly staff. They let us switch rooms at about 1:00 AM (see below). Great views from our room.

The ridiculously loud Disco next to the hotel doesn't stop until 3:00AM. When we complained, they gave us a quiet room on the other side of the hotel. The rooms are a bit old but I don't think there are a lot of better options in town.

The hotel is fine for the price, but certainly nothing special. After spending several weeks in the beach towns, Phuket is a bit of a letdown. The hotel was probably one of the best options, and it was priced fairly, but problems with the disco next door made us wish we'd skipped Phuket town--especially since the shopping and dining options were no better than anywhere else on the island.

Travel tip : Skip Phuket Town and go to Kantary Bay Resort on Cape Panawa, same price, better experience.

room is big

staff is not professional

hotel room is big, but the staff is not professional. For check out they need to check the room 2 times, goes and back to the receptionist desk. It's wasting time. And when I booked my breakfast in the box one day before early morning check out they said it's okay. In fact, Im waiting more than 15 minutes and breakfast is not ready...

the facade, entrance hall

the rooms and public areas

A hotel that has seen better days and is in urgent need of a refit. I felt this permeated down to the staff who generally gave the impression of indifference. The locale was handy for most tourists' objectives and, therefore, somewhat disapointing that the hotel was a let down. The Pearl, also an old hotel appeared in much better health. The Metropole updated will garner much new business!

The hotel is ok but a little bit too far from the center of entertainment. Room is clean and nice. View is good. Near Robinson and market.

Cannot get a non-smoking room.

When I first entered the hotel, my point of view is this hotel is quite good, good location and good service. Difficult to find non-smoking room. The breakfast is ok but you do not have many choices. But for the location and service, the price is ok.

OK, but not more Guest Rating: 6

Central located Nice reception

The breakfast Pretty old place

This is our third hotel we have tried in Phuket town and this was the one who gave us less for the money. Other reviewswe have read about Metropole hotel said they had a great breakfast. Well if you like rice and nudles for breakfast, but otherwise no. They had no cereals at all, only white bread. Pretty nice omeletts though. The rooms are OK, a bit old, but a lovely warm shower. The hotel is situated near good shopping and a McDonalds, and within walking distance from the busstation.

Shopping Tip : Robinson shoppingmall with McDonalds is just 500 m away, and good shopping on the way to get there.

Large Room but managed decent sleep. Friendly staff

Dated & tired...needs to be updated

Stayed for one night given I wanted to stay in Phuket town prior to catching my flight back home. Location is great but the hotel itself is dated and could do with an update. The town itself is a shadow of itself and most of the investment is geared towards the resorts etc so it's no surprise to see there wasn't much going on. I think things have slowed down a lot and the hotel itself will have felt this impact. Having said that I slept well enough and the place was adequate. 3* is about the max rating one can give to this hotel.

Great buffet dinner & breakfast. Nice big rooms beautiful lobby friendly & helpful staff

Alittle paint in the rooms would freshen them up

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The dinner buffet was a reasonable price and had a lot of variety. Breakfast was a very nice array also. We thought the hotel was very nicely designed and the lobby was striking. The rooftop pool area looked good but unfortunately we were not able to use it as there was a wedding booked to use the pooldeck and our stay was too short.
