- We stayed in the old wing (ground floor) and had a Terrace shower -> awesome!!! and a big nice tub and bed. Really good standard for such a cheap hotel in Thailand
- very friendly and helpful staff
- structure of the hotel avoids long walking distances (everything is close to the rooms): Pools, Restaurant, Internet, Front Desk, Beach -The hotel doesnt offer a shuttle or cheap taxi to other locations around, so you have to deal with the tuk tuk drivers who are greedy, annoying and its over priced compared to the rest of the country where you can get an air conditioned taxi for little or nothing. (A tuk tuk in Phuket is an open tiny minibus with 2 benches in the back.)
- otherwise nothing to complaint about The hotel is in a good condition. A new wing has just opened where you can access the pool from your terrace (ground floor only of course), but it might be a bit loud (pool noise echo)in the main season, but looks great.
The old wing offers an outside terrace shower (ground floor). The room we stayed in was clean and spacious. Before we left, construction started again, but was only noticeable in the bath room which didnt disturbed us at all, not sure how bad that would be in rooms on a higher level.
The breakfast was OK, nothing special, but everyone should be able to find something.
Right in front of the hotel (beach side) is one street with a couple of restaurants (not very cheap but ok), massage places and 2 mini supermarkets. The prices are ok, however if you are planning to leave it takes a few mins to get to the main street beside Karon circle, where you can find plenty of restaurants, some cheap some nice and with shopping opportunities. The hotel offers one shuttle service to a shopping mall in Phuket where you can go shopping without bargaining so much.
So in our stay (7 nights) there was not one single incident to complaint about, we loved our room and the staff was very good. We would recommend this hotel to everyone who is looking for a nice hotel in a rather quiet location to relax, but not to far away to get around close by locations.
Travel tip : This hotel is in a quiet location, so perfect if you want to relax a bit, but not far away (in walking distance) from various restaurants and shops. In Karon the restaurants and most of the bars are closing rather early (we went in the beginning of rainy season), but for approx 200 baht/4,50 Euro you can get a tuk tuk to go to Patong (takes 10 mins).
Whatever price you are offered (especially for tuk tuk or excursions always check at least 2 or 3 other sources and eventually speak to other tourists to assure you are not paying to much. Once you know whats a good price you can also ask the hotel to match the price (for excursions e.g.)

quite a distance to shops and bars and restaurants. Disappointed with this hotel. shower outside. terrace chairs very uncomfortable. could not sit outside due to this. one pool shared by other hotels so could not get loungers. building work going on at side of hotel so noisy if you laid on rooftop pool. other pool building work also going on very close so also noisy daytime. service poor at breakfast.

On-site contruction site and so lots of construction noise. The hotel is beautiful, the reception is grand and contemporary so there is the wow factor when you arrive.
We stayed in the Terrace Deluxe which has a lovely old style and a 4 poster bed but we needed the mosquito net around it.
The breakfast area and breakfast was also great and the staff were friendly.
The biggest problem is the construction site right behind the terraces which leads to excessive noise. It also means that the newly launched "tranquil" pool is actually far from tranquil meaning we felt we couldn't use it. There is another pool however. Given the price if you don't mind spending your time away outside your room when the construction is going on then it's still a lovely hotel.

Comfortable clean room, friendly helpful staff. Price we paid was reasonable. Close to beach with many restaurants and shops. Breakfast was good. Pool was minimal. Not important to me. Lobby area is not air conditioned. Old Phuket is a simple linear hotel on a street perpendicular to the beach. The street is blocked in front of the hotel so there is no loud traffic. They are presently in process of expansion, so some construction was going on, but it proved not to be a problem. We stayed in the cheapest room and it was adequate. The antique exterior appearance was distinctive compared to most hotels in the area. My main concern is for cleanliness, convenient, and safety for the minimum price, so Old Phuket was fine for me at the Agoda price.
Shopping Tip : We had a couples massage at one of the shops near the hotel and it was excellent and good value at Bt 300.

Friendly staff, good location, nice pool area. Bit noisy from adjoining rooms, shower heads placed for the height of the Thais, hotel internet expensive, local area is a building site, gym was not good, equipment rusty. Nice hotel in a good location close to Karon beach. Staff very friendly, good breakfast and lots of restaurants nearby.
A few problems outweigh the good points though. If there are people in the adjoining rooms or above, you can hear quite a lot of their noise. We asked to be moved as the person above us sounded like he was moving his furniture around all night. Would not like to be there at the height of the season if it was full. Lots of building work going on around the whole area of Karon and Kata beach which tended to start at 8am but we were there off season. Hotel internet expensive (100 baht/hour). The gym was probably lethal and was situated in a corridor. The equipment was very rusty and had definitely seen better days. The shower heads were, seemingly, set up for the height of thais so if you are any taller than 5'2" then you will need to shower on your knees!

The room looks tidy and large. Toilet is not bad and has a lovely windows. The decorative ribbons looks beautiful. A little far from the beach. We had to walk five minute to reach the beach for swimming. For this price, I think it's good. The room looks beautiful,large and tidy. Toilet is not bad and has a lovely windows. And it is decorated with Thai style, I like it. I compare the hotels on Karon Beach and think it is cost-effective. It is the favorite inn during my phuket tourist. I'll still live here when I return to Phuket for holidays.
Hotel Feature Tip : The back door of the hotel is nearer the beach than the main entrance.

The location of the hotel is very good and only across the road from the beach. There are also a number of restaurants, bars right outside the hotel. The breakfast could be improved We returned to Old Phuket in July after our initial stay there in May. This time we stayed in the deluxe room. The room is very cute with the Sino-Chinese decoration. Has a flair other hotels in this price point don't have. The room is very clean. The pool is small but quiet. The staff is friendly. Think only thing that needs improvement is the breakfast.

For the trips you might do it is cheaper to order a Taxi at the Hotel than outside.
Restaurant Tip : Try the "PAPAYA RESTAURANT", serving Thai food at mid-range prices on the opposite side of Centara Karon Resort. I hope you enjoy it!
