Lovely Pool, Contemporary Rooms in new Pool Block, Pool Access Rooms superb for water lovers.Old style block has it's own charm.
Initially I had mixed feelings when I arrived but there was a bit of a mixup with the reservation and it was my honeymoon and I didn't really want any hassle. A/C didn't work on the first night (old block) so slept in 28 degrees all night. Problem was solved next morning quickly and efficiently although maybe this should have been checked before hand. Room was decorated with petals etc for honeymoon as per request. Staff were superb and possibly best I had experienced in Thailand. Nothing too much trouble. Jacuzzi only had cold water but still very nice in 34 degrees. Shower at the back and Jacuzzi were quite secluded but only 95% private (if that makes sense). New block was keyless entry door, full LCD controller A/C Plasma TV whereas old part was CRT TV, No DVD etc but that wasn't an issue for us. We had the New Years eve buffet meal which was compulsory and was good fun with loads of food but maybe not worth the price we paid - I guess that's how hotels make some money so I guess the same could be said elsewhere. Great experience with no real negative points. Hotel and surroundings where very clean.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Go on a Phi Phi Island Trip if you haven't been.

Pool, Location, Friendly Staff
We stayed over the new year break and had a pool side room, everything in the room was almost brand new and very modern. even though the hotel was full it wasn't noisy. Staff where very helpful and food was good. Location very close to the beach and there was a good selection of local restaurants. Would recommend the Phi Phi island trip for sea lovers. Patong is a short taxi ride away if you want the "full on" nightlife etc, but the Hotel location is quiet and very pleasant. We stayed around the pool and relaxed and would return again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : We went on an elephant trek and to Phi Phi, both recommended and can be booked just outside the hotel.

The hotel has an impressive reception area. Well maintained surrounding with clean simple decor of fresh flowers and water features.
The maids and sercurity guards were very pleasant and friendly.
The hotel have easy acess to the food stalls.Good food!
There were buiding work in progress which was noisy. The drilling went on until 21.00 hours one evening!
The bed sheets and towels were old and worned. The rooms should be updated.
Shopping Tip : The shops along the beach and taxi drivers were trying to make as money from tourists. Always negiogate the asking price especially clothing/acessories etc.half the amount!

excellent location. generous sized pool view room. well maintained, clean and modern.
front desk experience could be improved with a more pleasant receptionist. no individual internet access in room.
family enjoyed the experience there. the family sized room were surprising generously spaced. breakfast were adequate. supporting services like massage, restaurants and minimarts were a stone throw away. however the front desk recepionist could have been more pleasant. every request we made like for a change of wet towels was met with a 'no'. a more pleasant way of denying request would have been appreciated.

Huge room and bathroom
Clean
Lovely Pool
Good breakfast
Helpful staff
Lovely grounds, well maintained
Phuket overall is awful but this hotel was a perfect retreat after our flight.
Room service menu could be more authentic thai and more extensive, but then again, its a good incentive to get you out and about to experience the real thailand.
We only stayed in Phuket for 2 nights prior to leaving for the islands. The Old Phuket is perfect for this kind of thing. If you are into resorts and Phuket, I highly recommend the Serene Wing (new part) of the hotel and the Pool Access Room in which we stayed in. Sparkling and wonderful.
Travel tip : Everything surrounding this hotel is pretty awful, Phuket is revolting, the massage places in the lane leading to the front of the hotel are good though, and the travel service desk with in the hotel was helpful.

Location of the hotel for people who like to relax, love the beach and prefer not too crowded places.
Very friendly and helpfull staff
More Staff members should speak english at a good level.
Travelagency within the hotel is expensive.
The hotel is nicely situated at Karon Beach. It has two entrances, one directly leading to the beach (one street to cross).
Our main interest was diving in Phuket. We found South Siam divers around the corner near to the main entrance. It was very confenient.
The hotel provides towel for the beach and swimming pool and is very helpful. They also provided us towels when we checked out for 1 night to sleep at a boat.
Breakfast is good, with some small variations, making it enjoyable as a start of the day.
Next to the building we were staying in a new construction is going on. In the room we did not hear much from that. However walking on the hallway to the room, it was sometimes quite noisy.
After all, we would stay here again.

Clean,quiet and serene.
The hotel is within walking distance to the beach
little variety for breakfast.
The food are not tasty.
Bed at sino wing is not fixed.
The hotel is quiet and serene. The receptionists at the lobby are friendly. The security guards are also very friendly.
The swimming pool at the serene wing is beautiful.
However, as we stayed at sino wing, the view outside the corridor will soon be blocked because there's construction ongoing infront.
The hotel is located along a street with many eating places and massage parlours. There're also a couple of mini supermarkets so it's quite convenient.

Many!! Recently renovated common areas; room in great condition with cute decor; excellent location near restaurants and 2 minute walk from beach; extremely friendly staff!
2 small ones: European-style beds were a bit firm, but that wasn't a dealbreaker; some construction noise from the development next door, but only midday so it didn't wake us up or interrupt our day since we weren't at the hotel during the days
Rate on Agoda and thought it was too good to be true. But since we were booking last minute and there weren't many other options available under budget with good reviews, we took the risk. Very happy that we did! The hotel staff was extremely friendly and accomodating, the breakfast was 250 baht per person and an adequate buffet selection, and the hotel had multiple pools. Everything was extremely clean and the room was in excellent condition with a Sino-Portugese style decor. Just a one minute walk from the hotel lobby was the Aroona Karon Centre with a number of massage salons, thai and european restaurants, and some tailors. The beach was a 3 minute walk from the hotel lobby, and never crowded.
The Karon Beach area is one of my favorites in Thailand so far. It was extremely low-key and the complete opposite of Patong. Patong and Kata were only a 10-20 minute tuktuk ride away, and the airport is a 1 hour ride away (550-750 baht). The beach strip had a shopping market and plenty of restaurants, but with about one-tenth the amount of people as in Patong, and a more mellow crowd.
Overall, we were extremely happy with our vacation at the Old Phuket Hotel and would definitely recommend. It isn't a Four Seasons, but the condition and style was right up there with a number of the Le Meridien hotels that we have stayed in.
Restaurant Tip : The Tre Kronor restaurant just outside the hotel is deceiving good! I say deceivingly, because it is covered with Scandinavian flags and we didn't expect the thai food to taste so authentic. Service was speedy and the ingredients were fresh. We ate there twice!
The CG massage salon in the middle of the Aroona Karon Centre (north side of the centre) was our favorite in Phuket. We recommend the foot massage, which is a combination of food, hand, shoulder, neck, and scalp massage for an hour. Can't be beat!

Rooms are lovely and the breakfast is good. Staff are very helpful.
Noise from construction beside
Hi. I stayed in the Old phuket Hotel last week -Oct. It is indeed a lovely hotel and great value for money on Agoda. It is a lovely setting and handy for all really.
Two swimming pools at the hotel which don't open til 10 in the morning. There were actually diggers droning loudly at 10pm one night at construction work next door! I said at reception and immediately was upgraded to other side of the complex away from main noise no problems at all. (wouldn't have minded a free glass of vino but...)
It is not safe to swim on Karon beach at this time due to rip tides- do not take children on even shallow part! (no idea about other times of the year).
This is a lovely hotel and good for relaxation in general. A taxi was very expensive but I am used to Bangkok. No meters in Phuket.
Karon itself has not got great nightlife. It is a small beach but quiet at this time so plenty of room -not sure about high season -it would be crowded.
Pi Pi island trip good -as usual shop around. Irish bar beside Coyotes in Paton has good music and craic. Coyotes has great chilli.
Travel tip : The taxi guy you get from the airport should cost about 500 baht. This sounds expensive but in comparison to getting to and fro Paton this is good. Get his number and a quote to pickup for airport return. It was the cheapest price.

The staff were all incredibly kind & helpful. From the wait staff to housekeeping, security & gardeners, we felt all staff couldn't do enough to help us enjoy our stay. The staff made an enormous effort with our 16 month year old son, by remebering our names, saying hello & even taking aour little boy for walks when he became bored at the breakfast table.
The hotel was very clean & the gardens beautiful. It is a very quiet hotel, which is exactly what we were looking for. Although there were renovations taking place which were quite noisy, there was no problem when we asked for a room move. This was done immediately without any fuss.
The Old Phuket is a fabulous hotel for those who are looking for a relaxed, quiet holiday. We found the staff were all exceptional & went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The location was ideal, set back slghtly from the main affair but close enough for a casual stroll to restaurants, beach, markets, etc. As our son was only 16 months when we stayed the quiet location as ideal. However, I wouldn't recommend the hotel to families with older children. I was suprised that the hotel didn't have a restaurant for evening meals, but the restaurants connected to the Old Phuket off the premises were fantastic & offered a discount to residents of the hotel. I would definately recommend The Old Phuket to anyone looking for a relaxing, serene holiday without the hussle & bussle that larger resorts often offer. The staff are exceptional, hotel clean & position ideal.
Shopping Tip : Check with hotel staff before taking a taxi to Patong. They will advise you of the reastic price to pay.

We 4 had a very happy and pleasant stay at The Old Phuket Hotel. We roughly reached around 10am on 28.09.09 and the rooms were already ready for us. Although the Original booked rooms were with construction works nearby, but without disappointing us further, the lady manager changed us to a much luxury & spacious room, free of charged. We really appreciate Old Phuket and they really shows that their very service oriented. Of course, we will defiantly see them very soon again. Thanks guy, we loved your service =)

I am a very senior hotelier and have had 20 year service with Marriot Hotels as a senior Manager. I was surprised when I saw the Rooms specially the stylish bath room and the swimming pool.
Shortage of power soccets in the rooms to charge battery of the cell phones or to link up other electrical devices. a couple of more items can be added in your breakfast Menu.
I along with my family enjoyed my stay at old Phuket Hotel. During the trip we enjoyed four destinations in Thailand but this hotel surprised my family. Whatever we say about your stylish huge bathroom that will be less. Also we found your swimming pool a different one with a nice touch of jaccuzi.

quiet, nice staff, good breakfast.
Stayed 1 night in a pool access room which was nice but our side of the pool was lousy & dirty. nice breakfast and very helpful staff. Paid internet is OK, gym was too hot & mosquito-filled. Next night we moved to the standard room which was OK for its price. Anyway, Karon beach is not one of the best in Thailand, at least not in low-season.
