Nice hotel, close to the beach

The hotel is nice and the room was large and clean (somewhat dated), with big bathroom. Hotel has very limited F&B facilities, but on the 5 minute walk to the beach you pass at least 10 restaurants (and many, clean massage parlors). Buffet breakfast was good (nothing special). Small market at 5 minutes walk; center of Karon is 15 minutes walk (or short tuk-tuk ride).

nice hotel

I had a nice stay at the old phuket, with only a few short comings! the room itself was quite large with a good sized bathroom and outdoor patio area! however the floor of the room was concrete which gave the room a cold sterile feel! the room safe was an advantage and the close location to the beach and restaurants was also a nice touch!
Unfortunatly if i was to visit karon beach again, i don't think this hotel would make it to my return list! from what i could tell from my experience in phuket there are much nicer hotels in alot better area's for only a fraction more of the cost! Old Phuket thanks for a the stay, but i won't be back, no not for one more day!

Great hotel with a great location

I have stayed at this hotel previously and was as impressed upon my return. The hotel is clean, staff friendly, rooms are spacious.
Hotel Feature Tip:
The two different pools are quite contrasting with the two different sides of the hotel....you can feel like you are in two different places.

Staff were friendly & accomodating. The serene wing is much nicer than the sino wing. I was hardly in hotel room so bed was comfortable enough

Definitely go to Phi Phi island, elephant trekking, Fantasea & Phuket shooting range.

Lovely hotel & good location

Only stayed two nights after moving out of another hotel which was substandard. Hotel staff were so friendly, allowing me to used the hotel facilites before check in time. Also allowed luggage storage & use of a shower & clean towel on departure date when I have a late transfer to the airpor.

Hotel room had a great bathroom with a huge comfortable bath and a seperate shower with good strong water pressure

It is not perfect hotel, but I liked location. Everything is close- sea, restaurants, massage salon... Quiet place, nice stuff, good breakfast. I had a good holiday.

If you are looking for a quite secure place to stay in Phuket, The Old Phuket Hotel is the place to be. It has 2 beautiful pools, very clean, friendly staff, nice rooms. Locating in the heart of Karon beach, you are only a few minutes away from shopping areas, the sea is at the doorstep, and the spacious gardens make your stay as wonderful as you can imagine. I love it!
Restaurant Tip:
The Ging Restaurant has English-speaking staff, the service is fast, the portions are huge and the price is very reasonable. You'll feel at home here. Also, the massages around the area are superb - don't miss it!

The main reason I booked this hotel over all the others is because I was planned to arrive close 10:45 pm and I wanted to secure an airport transfer to the hotel. I was traveling alone as a young woman and I didn't want to be harassed by the taxis waiting outside for tourists. Therefore, I booked the Old Phuket Hotel and arranged via email for them to pick me up at airport. A few email exchanges were made and they confirmed the date and the time for my pick-up.
Unfortunately, and to my severe disappointment, they forgot to pick me up. I waited 15 minutes before I called them only for the staff at the hotel to say that they knew nothing about my arrangement of my airport transfer. They kept saying to me that I was wrong, and that I didn't have any arrangement.
I was upset, but became furious as I when I was on the phone, several taxi drivers were harassing me for a ride. This was exactly what I was trying avoid. After speaking with the hotel staff for over 20 minutes and they said I would have to take a taxi. I did, though I had a headache from negotiating, and arrived clearly after midnight. They apologized even though they said I had no arrangements.
I presented my email exchange proving my confirmation. The next day they said I'm sorry again. No compensation, no real understanding that starting off a vacation being harassed is not a good thing. I do not recommend this place as they lack customer service and empathy.
