Tropical Garden Resort
Proximity to the beach and restuarants, ocean view from our room.

We stayed here over Chrismas and New Year. We chose a delux ocean view room and were not disappointed with the view. The room was cosy and had everything you need. The resort's pools are great, but they close the main pool for setting up the chairs and tables for the gala dinners. This means the smaller pool is packed at peak times. However, the resort is so close to the beach anyway. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful. Overall we had a wonderful, relaxing holiday!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Go for a walk just over the hill to Kata Noi beach and enjoy the sunset.

Don't expect much (part 2)

First trip to Phuket, booked Tropical Garden because it was cheapest. Upon arrival, my buddy and I were told they only had one of our two rooms (I had to be relocated to the Serene Resort down the street for a day). The front desk always seems bewildered when you ask them something. The manager, while quite capable, wasn't always around. The "Taxi Service" at the entrance (which is a part of the hotel) is just a bunch of goons standing around staring but not helping. They just point to cabs waiting on the street. They didn't have any rental bikes. They charge 100 baht for 100 min of internet. I was happy to leave.

Tropical Garden Resort
Great ocean views from our large balcony.
Two good size swimming pools with lots of space.
Large comfortable room, nothing fancy, but comfortable.
Short walk to beach, shops, and restaurants.

Tropical Garden Resort was a great choice for us as it was spacious and in a good location. The rooms were slightly run down, but very clean. It is situated close to one end of Kata Beach, near a variety of restaurants and shops. (It is about 200 meters from the water on a hill side). Staff was friendly and accommodating. Nice views from our large balcony to enjoy an evening cocktail.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Although there is a spa at the hotel, the best ones for quality and value are in the beach area.

The decor was dark, dated and worn and the bed was hard. The bed was really hard and did not look very inviting. For the quality of the room it was too expensive. The restaurant environment and the breakfast was very good. Our room was quiet since it was way up high from the streets. It was a long steep walk to the room but their were elevators.
Restaurant Tip:
Thai Jasmine restaurant across the street was good.

More than one swimming pool so it gives choices and avoid overcrowding. One of the pool is with jacuzzi features.
Very quiet and serene with nice view of the beach especially from the seaview deluxe room.
This part of the island is quieter as compared to Patong but no less stalls selling good food, drinks and souvenirs.
Breakfast is ok only.

Too far from airport and taxi very expensive from Kata to Patong in comparison with taxi fare in Bangkok.
Noise from next room quite audible and aircon is quite noisy too.Basically an old hotel but fairly well maintained.
The free vouchers for welcome drinks and coffee are ridiculously restricted to certain hours like between 6pm to 9pm and 12pm to 3pm respectively. We ended didnt use them as we are out during those hours. Might as well dont give at all.The bed is hard.
Travel tip:
This place is better than Patong. Walking distance 10 mins to many stalls selling food. drinks and souvenirs. Try Oasis across the road,

Beautiful Place
Lovely, clean, comfortable rooms in easy reach of anything you might want or need.

This was a great start to the vacation, arriving at midnight to find a clean, spacious, comfortable room, waking up looking out over the pool, just across the road from the beach with tonnes of restaurants, bars and shops, but without the noise of a big party area. The staff were helpful and friendly throughout our stay.

Overall, this was a nice place to stay for a good value. Our view was beautiful, service was good, and we were only a couple minutes from the beach. It's not a top of the line hotel, but really nice and worth the money, especially when Agoda is having a sale. I had read conflicting reports about the stairs/elevators. Now I understand the confusion. There are several different levels in the hotel, so different guests have different experiences regarding stairs. Our room was at the absolute highest point of the resort. We had to walk up a small flight of stairs, take an elevator to the 4th floor, walk through the pool area, go up a flight of stairs, walk up a ramp, go up another flight of stairs, take another elevator to the top (4th) floor, and then one more small flight of stairs. It was ok for us, and the view was worth it, but it definitely made us not want to go back and forth as much. One day one of the elevators was broken, making it a long climb. If you have any problems with stairs, make sure to request a room in the lower building that can be accessed by elevator (with only a few stairs to get to the lobby level).

Das erste Zimmer welches uns angeboten wurde, hatte zwar ein Jakuzzi, allerdings kein Fenster (!!)und stank total verschimmelt. Nachdem wir um ein anderes Zimmer baten, wies man uns ziemlich barsch darauf hin, das die Beschreibung so im Internet zu lesen war.(da hab ich das Kleingedruckte wohl übersehen) Trotzdem gab man uns dann ganz jovial ein "Upgrade". Das Zimmer stank noch schlimmer nach fäulniss.
Am nächsten Morgen sprach ich mit der Managerin, die sehr bemüht und freundlich war, ich kam mir danach trotzdem abgewiegelt vor.Also mich sieht dieses Hotel nicht so schnell wieder.
