location, pool, rooms & value
not right on the beach & no views
Second visit to Twin Palms which for us is the obvious choice when travelling to Phuket. Surin beach is beautiful but if you're going during the six months of the monsoon season be aware that the ocean is really choppy - you might not get a swim. Snorkelling in the dry season, there's a big difference. We have had great weather with no rain even in the monsoon season, it's just the rough sea that's a downside. Make sure you get a Grand Deluxe room - good size, lovely rooms. Short walk over to the beach and Catch Beach Club is great - is back to being free for Twin Palms guests.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Some good eating in this area - Lemongrass Thai, Silk for upmarket (and they will collect you). Do the John Gray 'Hongs by Starlight' sea kayaking - amazing.

Beautiful garden and swimming pool. Toiletries are excellent... they are from the Lemongrass House.
Had chocolates on the bed every night after we got back to the room. Nice touch.
Service is awesome... we left some fruit in the ice bucket the night before and when we came back the following night, the ice bucket was full of ice again, with our fruit inside... Chilled mangoes! Yummy.
Although we didn't watch TV, the Deluxe Lagoon room we stayed in came with a big box 24" TV. It's 2009 guys! A 24" LCD flatscreen costs less than $400 USD these days!
Surin beach is about a 5 minute walk away from the front steps of Twinpalms. The path to the beach is not highlighted and it is a dirt path.
I have been to Phuket before and was considering the Chedi as the resort is very quiet and private. Since I've been there before, and didn't want to do the same thing twice, I asked my girlfriend (first time there) to choose another hotel nearby. I'm from Canada and lived in Asia for 6 years now so am quite picky when it comes to the quality of hotels (overall hotel quality vs price in Asia is better than America/Canada)
We stayed 3 nights at the Twinpalms. We both felt we needed a few extra days there. It is a beautiful small resort. We loved the fact that it was really quiet and very spacious.
We arrived around midnight and was given a nice flower bracelet and a cold towel. It's not a big deal, but we didn't get any complementary drink that night. We did however get upgraded from the Palm room to the Lagoon room. The per night price during the low season on Agoda after tax was $100usd a night. Great value for this place.
We loved the toiletries so much that we went to the Lemongrass House to make a litre of each one so we could "take Twinpalms home with us". They smell awesome! :-)
Restaurant Tip : Rent a motorcycle and ride to the East side of the Island and eat at Laem-Hin. The price of seafood there is about 1/2 the cost of Surin and Patong beach, and fresher!

Excellent service, attentive to guests, newer facilities, clean, wonderful amenities, great atmosphere, wonderful spa products, excellent breakfast buffet, excellent beach facilities.
Shower pressure was weak and hot water in my building tended to fizzle after long showers.
The Twin Palms Phuket is literally one of the top resorts in Phuket. When I mentioned to the driver that we were staying in the Twim Palms Phuket he immediately was impressed. The staff there is extremely helpful and attentive to your needs and is kind and courteous at every moment, from check in, to even after checking out. I did not encounter a single disagreeable staff member. The facilities are also on the newer side, with modern design, advanced lighting with dimmers and great amenities.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The hotel's beach facilities are managed by "Catch Beach Club" which offers great dining beachside. A great way to spend an afternoon on the beach.

This was my first time to Thailand and the Twinpalms was our first stay. I fell in love with the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, the quality of the hotel in all aspects and the location in Surin. Definitely do not miss this hotel if you are going to Phuket
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Phang Nga Bay kayak tour booked through the hotel

The Twin palms has a number of redeaming features, Breakfast is great, the Pool is fabulous, the beach clup is fantastic.
The only thing that needs improving is the lack of variaty in the restaurantes its all very similar..
Twin Palms is a lovely hotel, the staff are great, the facilities are lovely and in good condition. Food is very good even if it is not all that varied.
I would recommend BBQ @ The Beach Club!!
If we go back to Phuket we would stay at TP again!!
Shopping Tip : Go see Harry @ Eleganza Fashions!! New Suit for 5000 bhat

A funky feel to the hotel. Catch Club is good. Really pleased that the hotel has stopped charging for beach loungers. Loved the red card scheme!
Pool service needs to be improved - large number of loungers are non-adjustable.
Arrived at the hotel after staying at Moms Tri. Initial impressions were impressive. Lovely foyer.
Had an upgraded swim-up room which was nice. That said, rooms are small-ish.
Food - only had breakfast and lunch. Both good but not wanting me to write home about.
Had a great stay. Not cheap to eat or drink - tip is to ask for a red card loyalty card. At least that way you get credits for your spend which can be used against gifts in the library. Don't get too excited. We spent $300 and got an umbrella. Albeit a very nice umbrella.
In the Far East, we have enjoyed great poolside service. Not here unfortunately. Once or twice during our 4 night stay we were offered water melon. But the status quo is for iced water, fruit, offer of bar drinks etc. Twin Palms - you need to improve on this aspect.
Still recommended though. The beach is lovely. Some fab restaurants on the beach as well. Sadly, so many appear to have 'gone through'.
Hotel Feature Tip : Ask for a red card loyalty. Makes the spending just that little bit easier.

amazingly designed rooms with lots of space and many details, which makes the stay unforgettable!!
This was my fifth stay at the twin palms. every year when ever i come back i find new details, which really surprise me! This time there was the "click card" - with every Baht you spend at the Twin Palms you earn a click and at the end of your stay you get a reward.
The room was equipped with an i-pod which had lots of chill out music on it and and there were lots of beautiful photos of the Twin Palms and a video clip on the i-pod as well.
All the staff is very helpful - in any matter.
Restaurant Tip : Manathai - just beside the Twin Palms Hotel.

Absolutely beautiful decor, amazing spa experience. The best breakfast choice I have ever experienced! Calm and tranquil place to stay.
Nothing really, could be a few more loungers around the pool as the Beach Club loungers are quite pricey so we wanted to stay round the pool more.
I loved Twin Palms. I have to stay it is the most beautiful and relaxing resort I have ever stayed at. Calming music playing everywhere, lovely modern asia style rooms, amazing breakfast choice. I would go back there in a second! A short walk across the road to the beach, probably about 100 metres away. We were happy to stay by the pool the while time. Could do with a few more loungers but apart from that I cannot wait to go back, even if just to experience the spa one more time.
Hotel Feature Tip : Book yourself in for the 1 hour massage experience, worth every penny!

Beautiful hotel, small and quiet, well-equipped gym, rooms come with DVD player (and library rents DVDs for free), nice pool to chill out in (not to swim)
We loved how beautiful and quiet it was. It's a small hotel with a relatively small pool but we didn't feel like we were suffocated by the other tourists, possibly because we stayed on past the weekend; The deck chairs were full on Sunday. The room was nicely furnished and promptly turned down each night. We had a room with a terrace and terrace doors which opened up to the garden which gave us added privacy; you may want to top up for the rooms which open up into the pool. Food wise, we liked the food at the Catch Beach Club and the vibe there.
Ironically, I think they need to improve on their customer service, which is surprisingly given how good Thais are with tourists and guests. They screwed up our airport transfer from Phuket airport to the hotel by not turning up. We waited for a good 1/2 hour, called them up and told them to forget it as we will take a cab instead, which turned out to be 1/3 the price to-fro Twin Palms (350 baht from the airport via taxi (get one from the side where there is a taxi booth) as opposed to 1,500 from the hotel). They gave a flimsy excuse and didn't offer to make up for it. The next day we asked for recommendations for a supermarket (something like the big Tesco in town where we can shop for food and do some shopping) but they sent us to this local Tesco which we finished in 10 mins. Transport is probably the biggest rip-off from the hotel, a by-product of tourism.
Nightlife Tip : Surin Beach is a quiet and lovely beach. The best place to hang out, we found out, is at the Catch Beach Club (Under TwinPalms flagship) which oozes a nice chilling out vibe.

Overall a great place to stay.
Travel tip : If you forget to bring mosquito repellent (which is very necessary), don't buy the ones they sell at the 7-Eleven (they burn). Go to Lemongrass Hut, which is only a few doors down from the resort, and buy theirs.
